This is a nice gesture. Given how shut down some of those areas still are, though, it could be made better by the inclusion of actual meal components... assuming the picture is a reliable representation of the existing care packages.

But yeah, it’s a good thing Apple is doing, but maybe should have been kept quiet.

To be fair to Apple, it looks like a recipient made this public... not the company.

Wow. That's a pretty respectful and cool way of treating your staff. How many staff are getting these? I mean, the pessimist would and could say something like "great PR, but slave labour in factories" or "just clearing out all the channel of old iPads they now won't sell during the pandemic so they can sell the new one", or something. But, most companies in the world wouldn't do this, a lot of companies would (and will) demand you drag yourself to work.

I wonder in particular whether Apple also extends this to the people making their equipment. Technically they would work for Foxconn, so they wouldn't be "Apple employees" but practically they would work on Apple products every day. It would be especially nice if they included them too. Though they have no direct responsibility for them, they could still be regarded as members of "The Apple Team" IMO. Especially because of how closely Apple controls their outsourcers to guarantee quality and (trying to to :) ) prevent leaks.

PS: Not saying that what they did isn't nice, but that would be the difference between 'nice gesture' and 'Wow!'.

Apple has always been an ethical company that treats its people extremely well. Thank you Tim, you are living up to the ethics SJ and SW had in heart since day one.

Agreed @ your point about PR. But at the end of the day they could've done absolutely nothing. Hopefully the employees are treated better in the long run as well.

The fact that people managed to STILL find something to complain/criticize about...speaks volumes. For those criticizing what was or wasn’t given, think about this...it could have been NOTHING at all. The attitude of entitlement from some of you is astonishing. This is quite a lot of product that was given for no charge at all. Think about how much money they lost out on by donating these iPads. Get over yourselves. They made a nice gesture...when they very well could have made none at all. Hate to break it to you...but these people (and you) aren’t entitled to ANYTHING. Be grateful that they gave something and leave it at that.

WOW!! this just came out today!! IF TRUE Tim Cook should be crapping in his pants right about now!!
The stock market is gonna crash on Monday too! Told you TIM. GET OUT OF CHINA! The black plague which killed 50 million people and the whole Roman Empire back in 526AD came from China by the way of infected FLEAS!! 50 MILLION PEOPLE DIED. WORST PLAGUE EVER!!

Apple has sent gift packages that include an iPad, face masks, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and more, to its employees stranded in Wenzhou and Hubei due to the coronavirus, according to details shared on Chinese social network Weibo.

While over half of Apple Stores have reopened on shortened hours in China, many retail, corporate, and manufacturing staff remain at home. Families who have received the care packages are said to be "moved" by Apple's efforts.

A letter enclosed in each parcel says that the iPads are provided for children's online learning or to help pass the time during the "prolonged stay at home."At Apple's annual shareholder meeting on February 26, CEO Tim Cook commented on the prioritization of employee health and safety amidst the challenges of the outbreak. Last month he outlined plans to donate to coronavirus relief efforts in China, and in February, when Apple announced that it would not reach its March revenue goals, Cook said the company was more than doubling its donation.

Apple's stock price has seen major fluctuations in recent days due to coronavirus causing uncertainty in the global markets.

Tim Cook has been front and center before the market crashed with Feb 17 earnings warning and now that US stocks have tanked, made himself available to the press with internal company operational information in China. This has led many other companies to do so as well. More info helps stabilize markets and counter apocalypse scenarios by shorts and market manipulators.

This info above shows the other side of Tim Cook and Apple, with many critics saying they do not care for the low paid workers overseas. Apple still make an effort to increase employee spirts. It is impossible getting hands on N95 masks in China, or Hong Kong for that matter. Thank you Apple.

Hoping this virus die out soon.

That’s nice of Apple. I love me some butter Danish cookies, those would be easily obliterated in 30 mins by me. I was thinking with stock dipping, I should buy some, we all know when things return to some semblance of normality, there is gonna be a huge upgrade cycle with the iPhone 5G and new iPad Pro.

Struggling to figure out how the usual naysayers will turn this into a bad thing.

pretty easy...Nestle is one of the worst brands one can think of. I can't believe Apple didn't choose more ethical brands. That's pretty low for such a rich company, for any company really!
