Maybe it’s because I’m a little bit old, but I don’t see anything at all wrong with no update in 3 years. For a product like this I could see them updating every 5 years or so.

The fact that I purchased a separate pair sums up only that I had a need that these AirPods are not designed for (light weight, travel case, easy to plug into airplane entertainment system) and that I spend too much on headphones.

Wouldn't it be nice if Apple updated their Airpods Max and made them lighter weight with a better travel case and a way to plug into an airplane entertainment system? Seems like an update is in order!!

I hate the word influencer. What exactly is Lamarr Wilson influencing?

To make your viewing experience a bit more "spatial," we hope you'll enjoy immersive listening with AirPods Max, along with a few sweet and spooky snacks.
Are we glossing over this statement? What are they hinting at? Surely something new with the Vision Pro?

Anyone going to comment on the fact that the word “spatial” was used, but Vision Pro isn’t expected to be at this event at all?

Or what else was actually in the box. Someone pointed out that this event makes much more sense on Asian time, and I might be wrong but some of that stuff in the box looks kind of like Asian candy.

Influencers makes want to do the opposite. They’re worse than humans that sells their body for money and mask it as selling love. Influencers are so weak minded that a heavy drug abuser seems like a wise man in comparison.
Does that include the influencer who cofounded, brought back from the grave and turned into a consumer electronics Empire the company this literal website is about?
Remember, his actual knowledge of technology was quite limited. He was a very fancy salesmen, or the modern equivalent, an influencer.

I subscribe to many YouTube channels. They don't "influence" me in anything.

Good for you. Perhaps other people out of the 2.14 MILLION are influenced when he pitches something? Apple must think so. They gave him stuff they would make you pay for if you wanted it.

I never heard of him until today myself... but alas, I'm but one soul on a planet of 8 BILLION people.

Never heard of this guy before. It’s amazing the sea of content creators that exists beyond the MKBHD’s and iJustines.
I actually used to watch this guy’s YouTube tech content years and years ago…
He was quite funny, but I haven’t kept up with him in at least the better part of a decade.
He was around when the biggest tech reviewers were Chris Pirillo and Tys iPhone Help and channels like that. Very early days of YouTube.
Here’s actually a video of him on Chris Pirillo’s YouTube channel from 2009 reviewing one of the most ridiculous gadgets of the time…

That said, given the unusual late timing of the event at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, not to mention the confusion surrounding the Mac lineup right now, this is one of the more mysterious events Apple has promoted in recent years, so we could well be in for some surprises.
And unfortunately it’s at WORST possible time.

October 30th happens to be Sports Equinox, where MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL ALL PLAY ON SAME DAY!!!!!!!

And at 5 PM PST is peak period time where everyone is watching one of the sports. Not a lot of people will be watching the Apple event live unless they are die hard fans.

Yeah, Apple didn’t do a lot of research when scheduling the event. They could’ve been okay with scheduling the event at 10 AM PST on Halloween.

(And here’s a kicker: I have a friend who’s an influencer that got the gift box from Apple. Unfortunately he happens to be a die hard Diamondbacks fan as well, and he has the tickets to Game 3 of World Series, so he will be attending that instead of covering the Apple event live. Unless he is going to cover Apple event live AT Chase Field which will be impossible.)

@TechnicallyTee must read threads like this and wonder where his millions of dollars are since some are implying all content creators are rich and don't deserve gifts. He does a fantastic job as do many content creators. But he and most others aren't rich and there's absolutely nothing wrong with them being sent a gift box from Apple.

Have…have any of you ever looked at what promotional items celebrities get for events?

I don’t like social media, but giving out crap to drum up interest isn’t exactly a new PR tactic, are we upset that “influencers” are the new celebrity class? Is that where the hostility and hot takes come from here?

I’m constantly amazed by this site’s ability to look at standard marketing like it’s something unique just because Apple is doing it.

Anyone who thinks they aren't influenced by the media they consume is kidding themselves.

Thanks man I appreciate that and it’s always the people who has zero knowledge about the creator space that has the most to say.

You’re not a creator, you made a video talking about stuff someone else made.

Tell me when you make anything yourself, when that happens I’ll consider you creative.

But recording yourself gossiping is not “creating”.

This is a very un-Apple thing to do in my mind...either they want to work the extra hype for this event or just need to get rid of old inventory headphones. Or both.
