Why can’t we just be happy for someone anymore? I’m jealous they got them, but that doesn’t mean I hate them for it. There’s no reason to be snide. “Old,” “outdated,” “obsolete” or not, I’d be thrilled to get a gift box from Apple!

That's a few Spatial drops there. I can't recall them ever giving a 550USD gift away to promote a virtual event, and I had been assuming this one was more like a micro-keynote like the M2 MBP launches. Interesting, might be more to it. Maybe this one is where we learn more about the Vision Pro too.

Apple has sent out Halloween-themed gift boxes to some influencers for them to enjoy while watching Apple's upcoming "Scary Fast" Mac-focused event on Monday night.

The gift boxes include a pair of AirPods Max headphones, an Apple cap, and a selection of "sweet and spooky" snacks and drinks.

As shared by influencer Lamarr Wilson, the boxes also include an invite which reads:
Hints suggest the event will be all about the Mac, and the company is expected to refresh several Macs in the lineup with new high-performance (or "Scary Fast") M3 chips, including the 24-inch iMac and the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.

That said, given the unusual late timing of the event at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, not to mention the confusion surrounding the Mac lineup right now, this is one of the more mysterious events Apple has promoted in recent years, so we could well be in for some surprises.

Apple plans to stream the October 30 event live on its website, on YouTube, and through the Apple TV app. For those unable to watch, MacRumors will be providing full event coverage on MacRumors.com and the MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

I didn’t get one.

Seems kinda seedy that Apple is sending gifts to popular YouTubers right before a new product announcement. It’s hard to take any of these videos objectively knowing Apple will send them goodies (presumably in return for positive coverage/reviews).

I'm actually looking forward to watching the event with my AirPods Max with Spatial Audio since I'll be at home and not at work. :)

Why the heck are people focused on dumping on YouTube influencers, instead of on speculating about what the fact that they send out APMs with a note about how "spatial" they are?

First of all, it costs them virtually nothing to send out 100 pair of APMs to get a little bit of free advertising, especially since they need to clear that channel of existing models before the new version comes out.

Second, the Prime Time scheduling of this announcement and the fact that they are sending out hints about Spatial Audio, I'm wondering if they aren't announcing some new service or expansion of an existing service. New Macs alone wouldn't justify a focus on Spatial Audio, since existing Macs already support pairing with APMs and, thus, Spatial Audio.

I guess we will have to wait 1 day 5 hours and 10 minutes to see, won't we?
Bro, watch it be a ****ing car.

Influencers makes want to do the opposite. They’re worse than humans that sells their body for money and mask it as selling love. Influencers are so weak minded that a heavy drug abuser seems like a wise man in comparison.
Many thanks for pouring out this fact. It is the exact same of what I've been thinking since years. Word by word. ❤️🤌💯

So, Marques Brownlee is the same as prostitution. Got it. And it's a "fact" too! Good to know.
I'm not saying content creators out there. The article said "influencers", not creators. And I was specifically pointing out to those influencers. Creators like Mr. Brownlee does not fall into that category of mine. There is a clear distinction out of that (see appendix no. 2).
And by the way, it seems like you're posting negatives here, and opposing to everyone out there with a very, very bitter and derogatory remarks. Are you an influencer? Or are you a fan of one of those mentioned in the article? I'm seriously asking here, before I make any conclusion to you impolite behaviour.
.
PS:
1. FYI, Mr. Brownlee bought most of things he reviewed, and he clearly makes a fair judgements out of them. Other than him, only a handful out there who does fair reviews as him.
2. There is a very crystal clear distinction between creators and influencers. Furthermore, there are lots of differences between opportunistic creators and fair creators. It's been discussed many times here on this forum, 9to5mac, iMore comment section, The Verge, Reddit, etc.

I wouldn't even call it a "problem", to be frank.
The OP, though, seems to be relating their experience. Whatever you want to say about theoretical human hearing capabilities, a personal experience still stands in that person's matrix of decision making. If that person does not like what they are hearing on those Apple headphones, then that will be part of their decision making.

Do you think Marques Brownlee doesn't have a job or provides no value?
Marques is a marketing face. Yes, it's a job. It's a good paying job. There are many marketing companies, big and small. They are real jobs, filled by real people. Marques is a small business in the field of marketing. He's good at his job and that is why companies like Apple like him.

He has through his education (went to a good school) and experience found that niche in our contemporary society that has made consumerism the ultimate American religion.

Apple sends out gift boxes to people who can afford to get the products in the gift boxes so they continue to tell everyone on YouTube what they want people to hear. Fixed it for you.

I do wonder if those AirPods Max have usb c?
What is TRULY sad is in this day and age an "influencer" is someone with a YouTube channel that fluffs Apple and Apple products with a certain amount of subscribers, with no direct measurement to any video's uploaded that directly lead to sales. However, existing Apple customers, users of their products that have more of a direct 'influence' to people they know that recommend Apple and their products and services that are more likely to lead to sales are NOT considered influencers?!

Anyone else see what is wrong with this move?

One would think that in 2023 viewers can see that youtubers/so-called influencers are GIFTED items for reviews and videos and nothing is purchased directly from them (no proof of receipts for each item reviewed, btw). At which point viewers/subscribers are just cross referencing for information or merely consideration as they contemplate a product or service yet most likely just for entertainment.

Yeah these kinds of gifting needs to either stop OR said influencers SHOULD, on every video, clearly state:
Products gifted for review,
Manufacturer of product/creator of service has reviewed or paid for the content created,
has reviewed and placed influential feedback of the review before being publicly made!

VERY much like what Mr.Mobile does - so there is CLEAR transparency!

Unfortunately youth and many adults today do not even consider nor think of this.

It's HIGH time Apple starts rewarding faithful customers FIRST!

Exactly.

I really don't understand your point. Unless you think all marketing and advertising is a gimmick.

Companies are going to try to market their products. So what. It's no less a gimmick to try to influence influencers than the very Event they are trying to market. Tomorrow will be all marketing. And good for Apple.

If marketing bothers you...stop looking for governments to protect you or for companies to act in the manner you want them to. Take some personal responsibility. Don't frequent forums that are going to talk about companies and products if these things upset you.
Exactly.

Companies are going to market their products. So what. It’s a gimmick to send unrelated products to try to influence people who think they are something they are not. There is no such thing as an influencer - it’s a paid actor. Tomorrow will be all marketing Apple products, not random other products. And good for Apple.

If calling a company marketing with another company’s products a gimmick bothers you…. stop looking for governments to protect you or for other people to act in the manner you want them to. Take some personal responsibility and stop trying to silence others. Do better.

This is not a new thing. They’ve sent out variations of these to large corp customers and channel partners for years - source, me - this is how I get most of my iPads 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Take personal responsibility and stop caring about people blatantly lying lol.

Not sure ever the criteria was to select the influencers. Also, I am not sure who is this guy influencing?

I think you’ve watched “Pretty Woman” too many times, as I doubt anyone is going by the job title “love worker”.
