Apple Sends Out Invitations for October 22 Media Event: 'We Still Have a Lot to Cover'

Mavericks is noticeably slower than ML

Since it will be released soon, wanted to share that, I've been running Mavericks for a couple of weeks now and I can tell you, those that are still using spinning HDs, will notice a slower OS. There's seems to be a lot more disk access from what I'm used too on ML. I love the new features but until I get a SSD, I might switch back to ML.

Still a lot to cover? The iStill!

Obviously, this is signalling the release of Apple's new iStill. Thinner, cooler, and made from glass and brushed aluminum instead of rusty tubs and copper tubing, the iStill will generate a whole new class of user experience as it generates genuine double-rectified busthead... with a hint of Apple.

Well Surface 2, you had your 5 minutes of fame. iPad is here come 10/22.....OH WAIT, Surface 2, you never had any fame. My bad. ;)

----------

Come on Google!!!!! Announce the Nexus 5, the Nexus 10, Android Watch and KitKat already!!!

And you're asking this on a Mac forum that caters to Apple products because???

Possibly. A previous poster suggested a 2 hour event evenly split among various products (e.g., Mavericks, Mac Pro, iPad, etc.)

If they do mention these Mac products is more likely to be a 90 minute event with 1/2 hour up front summarizing lots of great numbers of various kinds...briefly announce Mac Pro avail, Mavericks avail...then the rest all about iPad.

I just don't think they'll give it much time at all. iPad and iPhone are where all the money and attention is. They just won't give this much valuable press time to a product (Mac Pro) that's likely to sell less than 500K a year.

This is an iPad event.

I guess. But for the other products, they need to be mentioned.

You also have to look at the iPhone event. That event was shorter compared to the other ones. Only two products were announced, leaving out the rest of the products that need to be updated. I still think that they're too many products that can't go without say.

Mavericks can be released over the third quarter earnings call but I don't think they'll do that for the Macs, they too also have to be mentioned at the event (too big of a product.) As for products like the AppleTV they don't need to even say anything. Putting it on the website is good enough.
As it says in the invitation, they have a lot to cover. This is definitely going to be one of the longer events.

so you chose clue number 3, "We still have a lot to cover"...

well if you wanted to cover things, you may choose a sheet or a blanket, or maybe even plastic, so that item would be unseen. If something is unseen it may be secret or invisible, maybe like the Invisible Man™ The Invisible man sometimes wore a hat, hats go on top of heads, and the "head" of Apple is Tim Cook, cooks prepare food and if you don't eat the food, it goes in the BIN... yes That's right, you've won Dusty Bin!

"We still have a lot to cover?"

What does "still" mean? Still, as in the year is almost over? Still as in, we kinda sorta just announced a new iphone but we still have a lot to cover? I don't get it.
IGZO displays for the MBP, the iPad and the iPad mini, for example. The Thunderbolt Display with at least two Thunderbolt 2.0 ports (compatible with the new Mac Pro), and so on...

I would welcome a more "Smart Cover" like Microsfts. I think it would be great. Can not wait for Mavericks and iCloud Keychain!!!!

Wait just a second... Those aren't Apple leaves!

"We still have a lot to cover." I'm not saying Apple is engaged in an alien coverup, but Apple is engaged in an alien coverup.

The New Mac Pro is being made from black aluminium so you can't really rule out the possibility of the Retina MacBook Pros being black/space grey, not that I am saying they will be, just nobody except Tim Cook knows for sure.

I am curious about new ipads and mac mini. If they are not what i am expecting them to be i will be visiting a refurb section shortly after the announcements.

I guess. But for the other products, they need to be mentioned.

Maybe.

You also have to look at the iPhone event. That event was shorter compared to the other ones. Only two products were announced, leaving out the rest of the products that need to be updated.

And we have no idea how long this event will be.

I still think that they're too many products that can't go without say.

Possibly, but Apple seems to like focus and keeping things simpler. If those others are mentioned, my guess it will be a relatively small part if the event and then move on.

As for products like the AppleTV they don't need to even say anything. Putting it on the website is good enough.

I'd say that's the case for the Mac Pro and even the MacBook Pro.

As it says in the invitation, they have a lot to cover. This is definitely going to be one of the longer events.

Maybe.

It would be kind of hilarious if their meaning behind "we still have a lot to cover" means nothing more than what it sounds like... That they have more products to talk about. Sometimes I think their PR department gets a chuckle out of the frenzy you guys get worked up into over these things.

it never works out like that -- it always conveys a special meaning. it's no accident, and it's the marketing department doing their job properly.

OS X Mavericks - price and release date, new Mac Pro, 4K Thunderbolt Display, Haswell Mac mini, Haswell MBPs, iPad 5, ipad mini 2 with Retina. Something else ?

New iWork apps. Said at WWDC that they would be coming later this year. If iWork is getting updated then the iLife suite may finally get updated as well

----------

Please don't make it just iOS related, give us some Mac love.

I'm guessing it'll be pretty well balanced. iPad/iPad mini will be big, but the Mac will have the MBP, Mac Pro, Mavericks, and possibly Mac mini to balance that out. Oh and iWork updates
