You people do understand that this is an Apple DEVELOPERS conference right?

It is not a product announcement, it is the keynote presentation for people who develop Apple software.

It is rare that they announce new hardware here. They do typically announce new operating systems and such.

I think a lot of people are setting themselves up for huge disappointment by creating unreasonable expectations.

As an iPhone user, I'm hoping for a big iOS 10 release. As a prospective first time Mac user, I look forward to what the next OS X will bring as it'll be my first version of OS X.

As an avid member of the Waiting for Skylake MBP crew, I'm hoping for some mention, a teaser, something that shows us that we have something on the horizon for the MBP. No mention at all, like in March, would be a big downer.

As a general Apple fan, I just look forward to another keynote, as I enjoy them immensely.

Coming from someone that looked forward to the WWDC keynote every year like a kid looking forward to Christmas, I can honestly say I couldn't care less. Apple has become boring.
Nothing is a surprise anymore. No offence to Macrumours but there are too many leaks lately. We already know what if anything will be introduced.

While this is true Apple have announced new MacBook Pros in the past, usually when they have been a redesign such as in 2012. I'm not saying they will announce at WWDC this year but it does make sense otherwise they will be announcing along with iPhone 7 in September which they have never done before, or holding a seperate event in October, which they use to do for iPads and Mac's but for the past 2 years they haven't done this.

I really wish people would stop saying this. Two out of the past four WWDCs introduced brand new hardware.

That colored font in the invitation reminded me of the OLED band in the place of the function keys of recent mockups of the new Macbook Pro. Is that a hint they are going to announce it?

You mean like Tech Insider?
"WWDC is Apple's annual conference for developers. The company rarely announces new products at the event, but it does give a preview of new versions of its iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch operating systems."

And how does the fact that two of the last four have introduced new hardware clash with "rarely" and my point that expecting hardware announcements at a software conference may lead to disappointment?

They very well may announce hardware, but some people are saying things like "people's heads will explode if a new MBP isn't announced" and if that's true people may be really unhappy (and have a big mess to clean up).

So, yes, it's possible, and No, you shouldn't get your hopes too high.

Redesign the whole UI please! Boring, old, outdated row of icon after icon on the iPhone. Something new...

I don't care what Tech Insider says. 50% over recent years is not equal to rarely. Everyone knows it's a software-focused event; seriously, we get it. We literally just got a Thunderbolt Display rumor yesterday. WWDC isn't immune to hardware. If something is ready, it's ready.

Overhyped expectations for the event is a separate discussion.

Yup, the mythical xMac. They'll sell hundreds of those - and if each customer bought AppleCare they might even make a profit. Might as well open-source OS X and save the hardware development costs. The fact that Apple is still making money selling personal computers is very much tied to the fact that they only make non-upgradeable high-end laptops and all-in-ones.

Computers used to be cheap and upgradeable because every component was hopelessly outdated within 18 months. Those days are gone, and if you do sell someone a computer with upgradeable RAM, SSD and PCIe slots you won't see that customer again until 2026. Apple made a terrible mistake in 2011 by selling me an MBP that let you replace the HD with a SSD - the only reason I need to upgrade now is that El Cap broke my USB3 ExpressCard & I don't want to invest in a Thunderbolt dock with TB3/USB-C on the horizon.

A Mac Mini based on the Skull Canyon chipset would be nice - except it would clobber iMac and Mac Pro sales so don't hold your breath.
yeah I'm sick of disposable desktop computers. I hate when they give us "limited time" when the computer will " expire" and force us to buy another computer every 3 years.

Anyone think there will be a new iMac this year?

How new do you need? The Skylake iMac was only just released in November.

I actually thought this was sarcasm the first time I read it. Now I realise its not.

If you're sick of so called "disposable" desktop computers, why don't you buy one that can be easily upgraded? Computers like that have been around for over thirty years, and I actually just bought one myself. Apple isn't ever going to give you what you want, so why wait on them?

There'll be no new MacPro, maybe a thinner MBP with even less connectivity, and SIRI in the Mac OS. And some Watch crap no one cares about.

Apple really has faded fast in just a couple of years.
Don't destroy my Mac Pro dream...... Nnnnoooooooooo!

This is make or break. The last 3 keynotes were extremely concerning and disappointing.
Make or break? You mean you will give up on Apple?

Anybody fancy playing the keynote drinking game with me? Hopefully should make it a little more interesting, at the very least.

You know, whenever there's a buzzword — 'magical', 'Apple makes the best products in the world', 'innovation', 'thinner' ... I could use some help writing up the rules, though, unless there's already a game written. What would justify a shot of hard liquor, for instance?
Here's your shot card! Game on.

Is that the current invitation's art? I hope there is not a MacBook for every one of those colors

Nonsense, I think Apple has been doing a great job with new watch bands! I can't wait to see what they have in store for us this time!!?! I heard they are working on new bands made from aircraft grade aluminium that will be both incredibly light and incredibly durable.

Yeah, June-July would be the timeframe for a MBP announcement/release, just in time for the back to school period and a time when a lot of other people are looking to upgrade/getting interested (myself included).
