I am still stuck in an endless back-and-forth with the iTunes Store support over my voucher from last year being unredeemable. So bloody annoying.

Arghhhhh....my MBA just shipped 2 days ago too. I was waiting for the BTS promo but finally caved.

Not sure of it'll be worth the hassle of returning my BTO and waiting another week for a computer. Maybe Apple will give me the promo if I call.

In regards to the idea that there will be Haswell rMBP's released tomorrow I highly doubt it. There hasn't been any leaked SKU's and we saw those prior to the MBA update.

Just the $100 Mac App Store gift card was kind of a bummer. In 2009 and prior It was worth it to wait for these promotions so you could get a $200 device for free along with student discount. I'd be pretty happy to see this type of promotion implemented again.

But the problem was people were using that promo to resell the iPods on Ebay and recoup the $200. Why should Apple care right? They shouldn't but people were abusing that promo. They would buy the Macbook/iPod promo, sell the iPod on Ebay then they would try and scam Apple by returning the Macbook without the iPod trying to plead for them give them the full price paid saying that they had not received the refund. Apple had to discount the price of the iPod from the return because the customer was going to get the refund from paying up front for the iPod and it was already set in the system to be sent to that customer. Well that alone caused a lot of issues. Don't ask me to show proof, I read some of it on the web and on here. Many people here had an agenda over the program.

Absolutely because Haswell will make our MacRumors surfing experience better. ;)

Sure will, my 2008 MBP's display doesn't work so I can't browse Macrumors when I'm not at home :p

Also, Haswell will bring probably bring more battery life to the rMBP which will make surfing on Macrumors better, certainly. :p

Trouble was that those free devices ended up on eBay etc way way too often.

LOL, that was a great reply, you made me chuckle and what you said was exactly true. :)

Meh, I was in the "wait for Haswell rMBP" boat but then I realised that life is too short and I could get a good deal on a refurb. Typing this on my gorgeous rMBP. I don't think we'll see the Haswell ones until about September/October. They're likely be announced alongside the next iPhone or at the rumoured iPad event in October. I don't think Apple will use BTS to launch a brand new line.

A: I purchase for an educational institution.
B: I do not buy refurb for that purpose. I build to order in bulk, and well above inventory stock specifications. Not exactly off the BestBuy shelf.
C: I buy MANY units at a time.
D: I buy once a year, and the machines that are delivered are locked into a rotation cycle after delivery. If they miss the update, they miss it, no practical recourse after the order, delivery, and deployment.

It isn't exactly a normal retail sale situation after delivery, where an individual retail or educational-retail customer can just decline delivery, return it unopened, and re-order, or re-sell to someone else, and re-purchase an updated machine.

I want to offer the best that I can, but I am on a time-table that I can't just delay because I would like to wait for a nice spec-bump.

Plus, keep in mind. BTS isn't up yet. This is a RUMOR about it for tomorrow.

There is nothing that says rMBP *won't* be updated on the AppleStore tomorrow morning, as well as BTS being announced.

I am hoping that they just held it off of WWDC for a minor issue, and let MBA have the spot-light. The Haswell update probably has a bit better benefit over the previous-spec MBA, with battery life and efficiency, and more obvious to tout.

Power-hungrier MBPros probably have less of a battery duration benefit to publicize, but probably more than nothing. The PCIe storage, and 802.11ac wireless are probably more noticeable upgrades. (once ac-wireless nodes start getting wider adoption, especially... as I said... a multi-year rotation cycle, and somewhat future-proof.)

Plus, software deployment with faster storage, and faster wireless (and no ready ethernet port)... gets FASTER. As I said... I order, deploy, and support many.

It's a voucher (actually a gift card) you can transfer via sale to anyone - it's got value, I sold mine within hours of listing it on eBay, got paid, sent the code to them, and received monies the day I listed it, all legal and allowed, so I wouldn't poo-poo it so quickly.

That sort of stunt is why they stopped doing the iPods and why it won't be shocking if they make you submit a form online with your Apple Id info and the credit is applied directly to your account. Or something similar.

Heck I wouldn't be shocked if they required you to submit a request via your school email address for some kind of coupon code that would be used at the store with your photo id to get your money off. And would verify that you aren't gaming the system by going to several stores and such.

I thought those Air SKUs turned out wrong... there were like 3 or 6 of them, but they didn't match with anything.

Right because they are completely new SKU's.

Compare them to the model numbers listed for the new MBA's:

MD711LL/A — Better — USA => 11" MBA 1.3/4/128

MD712LL/A — Best – USA => 11" MBA 1.3/4/256

MD760LL/A — Better – USA => 13" MBA 1.3/4/128

MD761LL/A — Best – USA => 13" MBA 1.3/4/256

EDIT:

Also, the other 3 SKU's match the new Airport Extreme and Time Capsules.

And iPods along the years, too.

I've never seen them announce a BTS promo, release/refresh a product, and then exclude it from the sale.

You do know that's just a pic Macrumors pulled off the internet, and not an official image from Apple, right? The BTS promotion hasn't even been announced yet.

Actually, the image is pulled from apple. Direct from their student page. Just not direct from a BTS page. Lets all play nice :)

I'm afraid I already know the answer to this, but am I screwed if I bought a MBA ~3 days ago and it hasn't shipped yet? For the record, it's set for pick up at the local apple store.

Maybe if I bitch at the apple store enough...

You have a 14 day return period, so ask at the store and see what happens. At the worst, return and re-buy.

I almost just bought a refurb iPad Mini for my daughter for $279. But since we rent a lot of movies and buy music through the Apple TV and iTunes Store, I might as well wait a day or two and just get her a brand new one along with a $50 iTunes GC, right?

Yeah, $50 could go towards those rentals.
