I swear to god - its a ****** development conference. Software not hardware.
And the rMBP was announced in WWDC 2012
I swear to god - its a ****** development conference. Software not hardware.
Same here. I loved it! Very cool new features being added.I like a lot of the new features announced.
- SOS on AppleWatch
- I'm glad they brought back locations to Photos
- The more intelligent moments in Photos is also really cool, plus the ability to automatically create a video (ala iMovie Trailers)
- It's great to finally be able to have Skype deeply integrated into the OS
- Text transcriptions of voicemail
- The ability to have apps integrate with the caller ID and see what might be spam, and not, etc
- I actually think the messages additions are really nice and fun. I'll definitely be using them with my family. (I'm 26, not 12)
- The ability to store files off in the cloud to save on storage space is awesome! To have that deeply integrated with the OS is amazing to say the least.
I mean the list goes on. I was really, really pleased with the announcements made. But it seems that I'm in the minority.

It is not usual for hardware to be announced at the WWDC.And the rMBP was announced in WWDC 2012

Stop moaning - it was fairly decent with some cringeworthy parts. The list of developer features not mentioned is pretty huge.

Apparently the one I watched showed how Siri will actually start becoming useful because Apple finally decided to open it up to Devs. Same for most of their stock apps. Something MR members have been complaining about endlessly. Now it's here and you all are still trying to outdo others with nose in the air complaints.
As others mentioned, this was an event for developers, not for consumers. So I understood Apple's focus on software. I think I had gotten spoiled by hardware announcements during this event, but WWDC wasn't really the right place for that. Apple seems to be turning to "special events" at various venues to announce products, and they no longer seem tied to any specific schedule. No new hardware? Apple has lost their minds.
Old people buy the most Apple stuff. Why do you think they are desperately trying to attract a younger segment with all these lame things you find frivolous? They are heavily propped up by the boomers. I predict we will see a lot of revenue loss as the boomers start dying in larger and larger numbers.I'm not in the prime demographic anymore.Over 65 and retired. While I am impressed with what Apple is doing, I honestly don't think I am interested in more than about 10% of what I saw today, if that. I can only be thankful that the updates will be free cause I saw NOTHING worth spending money for.

Yes it does - hardware is rarely introduced at WWDC. It is not a consumer event but aimed at developers. They are exceptions to the rule.I swear to god, a ********* development conference does not mean just software. Just google past WWDC and see the hardware released....significant Apple hardware have been released .
Next do the maths how outdated the MacBook pros and Mac pros are....cross reference it from last WWDC where MacBook pros and Mac pros have been launched and the light bulb will go on![]()
Yes - lots of api based stuff further down the list. Are you a developer?Did you actually read the list? It overly inflated. Mailbox column.. Unlimited tabs in Safari.. Faster Camera launch.. Air Quality Index for China.. Definition dictionary in Danish.. and it goes on..

There's far more to WWDC then just this keynote. There's hundreds of courses, experts you can ask questions, and countless resources that are only available to you when you go to this conference.

I mean the list goes on. I was really, really pleased with the announcements made. But it seems that I'm in the minority.
Clearly not developer stuff. Talking about children software for more than 45 minutes was ridiculous or listening to a song that had nothing to do with developers was also extremely aggravating. Glad they had a 9 year old whose parents have thousands, but I don't see why developers had to waste 45 minutes because of it. "Don't you wish you had this when you were learning..." f* no. I learned development because I was interested and read books and tried many languages until I found out what i loved. I didn't need a dumbed down game to spoon feed me the information. It's a developer's conference! What did you expect?
Many people on MacRumors lose perspective. This is a developer conference. That's it. Opening up Siri, Messages, and Maps to developers is pretty frigging huge.
