Well the bottom 1/3rd of the video is cut out when viewing with my iPad 3 running 6.1.3, guess I'm not missing much.......

I don't often agree with Leo Laporte but today on his live special he got it right. He said the keynote lacked cohesiveness and it felt like Apple was just announcing a bunch of stuff and not really tying it all together. I agree. Take the new News app. Looks quite nice and I'm sure I'll try it out but what's the point of it? Is it Apple's way of saying Newsstand was a bad idea? Is there another purpose for it? And the Music portion of the event was painful to listen to and about 15 minutes too long. Jason Snell said on his podcast with Myke Hurley that the music section was the worst presentation he can remember at an Apple event. He said it was unfocused and self-indulgent. Which is a shame because Apple Music could be compelling but Cue and Iovine didn't sell it at all. It makes me wonder, did anyone at Apple do a run through of the music presentation. I can't believe the executive team could sit through a run through of that and think it was good. One thing is for sure, keep Jimmy Iovine off the stage. He's terrible.

I have to agree with you. I think the 'News' app, is Apple taking control over what Newsstand was supposed to be. When Apple announced it with whatever rupert murdoch's flagship magazine was (some "daily" or something? How soon we forget... anyway) It was supposed to be revolutionary to news consumption, but the costs and implementation were unrealistic. This seems to be a method to allow publishers and content creators, to add both app optimized content and regular web content (in my opinion). It also leaves me wondering what current newsstand apps will do? Just become old school single magazine apps on iOS?

And yet, Apple INSIST on forcing people to use a Mac or Quicktime to watch these events. How are they ever going to convince non-Apple users to BECOME Apple users, if they don't use STANDARDS (HTML5, MP4) to show their videos? Wake up, Apple - we aren't ALL using Macs and Quick(slow)time.

You don't have a single iDevice? and you are on MacRumors?

To those supporting the Keynote... Are you really telling the forum, that Developers need to get excited about checklists in notes? or scrubber bars in the photos app? Or maybe how the cursor gets larger/magnified when you shake it?

Okay sarcasm rant over-The WWDC keynote has in the past been a venue for developers as well as fans (consumer, prosumer, and professionals). In the past they have also been used to announce new products both software and hardware. "Can't innovate no more, my ass" (-Phil).

For today's keynote, it was focused on software, that many won't see for months, and many will be excited for some of the new features and the new optimizations. But all they did was shell out their new music service. Don't get me wrong I know they are dictated by other manufactures in the industry to product updates, but there was nothing for the fans to get excited about. Lets face it, many of us are waiting to post the "HERES MY MONEY, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" memes. There were no real timetables apart from the 8.4 Apple Music Launch, everything else is vague for the fall. This leaves many down.

FWIW. I'm sure many product updates will coincide closely with Thunderbolt 3, apart from the Mac Pro, which will see an update after the rest (historically the case). And it would have been an amazing "one more thing" if Tim had said "you know, we charge a ridiculous amount for those new retina MacBooks, but has anyone noticed there is no icon above the USB-C port,... well it's really a Thunderbolt 3! And here is the new amazing Thunderbolt 3 Retina Display with optional auxiliary support with USB-C. Oh and a new Force-Touch Track Pad. And finally the Apple iArchive, a super RAID to automatically back up your iTunes purchases, so your content can never be pulled."

Now those would have been some announcements I could get behind.

It sounds like all you care about is hardware.

Some of us care about the software. And I literally LEPT into the air when they announced Swift was going to be open source. It was not just checklists, you are acting extremely narrow sighted.

Save yourself the time and just look at the important clips. One of the most boring keynotes Apple has done in a long time.

Do you know where can I find such clips? No so much for the keynote being boring, but lame: the fake enthusiasm, the lame showmanship of Apple execs... and the paid fan screams and cheers... I don't think I can watch another one ever...

So, no new hardware...
Apple, seriously are you taking the mickey ? "Split View" on Mac ? how is that a new feature ?

Did anybody notice....

When Iovine was presenting, he brought up a slide and said "Apple Music is THREE things.... It's a revolutionary..." (People in the crowd giggled, to Iovine's befuddlement and distraction).

I also laughed because I thought he was paying homage to Steve Jobs iPhone introduction. "Today we are presenting THREE THINGS. A breakthrough internet device. A widescreen iPod with touch controls. A revolutionary mobile phone." (The reveal, of course, that it was all one device).

It was funny when it seemed like Iovine was channelling Steve, and then sad when the laughter was completely over his head, and more sad that it threw him off and made him look worse... Certainly not a full member of 'the Apple club'.

There is ways to watch it in VLC. Watched most of it today using VLC with no problem.

Can most people without your skills do it ? I doubt it.
People want simple things, they don't want to have to tinker with other software to watch something.

Steve Jobs highly respected Jimmy. Get it right. It seems that you've never clammed up or blew it..right? These guys aren't super human so get over it. Tell me did it really ruin your day? Your life? Wow this is such a big deal..?

I agree there were two parts of the keynote poorly executed - one was the watch OS and the second was Apple Music. All involved just aren't stage oriented and shouldn't do these things... But hold on. I seriously think that the biggest issue I had was that this was the wrong venue for the Apple Music announcement. Seriously Apple should have held a special Music only event and produced it perfectly -- and had the full attention of the media to focus only on it -- and hold it maybe at a venue like the Fillmore. Apple Music had zero to do with the WWDC.

Too many messages thrown out to the public. I kind of don't see the value of publicizing this event to the public. I'd also point out that none of these tech companies do any great keynotes of late - they've all sucked. Why? Because they are all trying way too hard to throw as much out there.

Wow, flamethrowers are on. I'm not sure what you're attacking, but have fun with that. I just thought it was a neat moment that unfortunately went wrong for Iovine. He actually seemed like an ok presenter, but seemed he lost his place a few times. No biggie. I was just nerding out on the iPhone introduction reference... that wasn't really. *sad trombone*

C'mon you don't think that opening # by Bill Hader wasn't entertaining? One of the best opening acts I have seen in some time, definitely puts Google's random collage of animation at Google IO this year to shame!

So I found this Keynote boring first off.

Secondly I want to know if Mac OS X El Capitan will make my 17" MacBook Pro 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8 GB ram slower than when I tried Yosemite on it. I had to go back to Mac OS X 10.8.5?

This was one of the best WWDC keynotes I have seen in a long time. They had so much compelling stuff to announce around new technologies, improvements to existing technologies, apps, services, and experiences. They knocked it out of the park in every conceivable way. It was also great to see some new faces up there presenting in front of a captivated audience.

I did enjoy the intro and it was probably the best part of the Keynote. The rest of it just seemed kind of jumbled and rushed to me. I think they are getting to the point where there are too many presenters talking about different things and instead of making things extra clear, it makes them more confusing and ruins the quality.
