Whoever’s serous about camera and video doesn’t use an iPhone to make videos
apple isnt targeting those..or google or the others brands...those are more and more of niche league, Apple is targeting those who use the camera for casual use and memories...those are billions of people. Nobody here cares about that niche league, maybe just you, but you are in the wrong place then. The phone you have it almost all the time on you, a dslr not...so you need to have a good camera...a good camera on a phone is far more important than your issue with the "notch" because from there we started :) I think there are forums about DSLR cameras

That cinematic blur is just awful. (2:16) It makes me laugh how ****** is. Calling this cinematic? and fullhd only? This is for kids.

Yeah, and some of those children will be those who are going to be experimenting, creating, practicing and eventually becoming the next generation of cinematic storytellers. All because of Apple bringing powerful technology for everyone.

I'm glad we have Apple in artists' corner.

If what we saw were final production models, it seems that the graphite is getting a much darker band and lens ring.

For 200$ more , you get the 13 pro, promotion is almost like the 3gs-> iphone 4 display advantage...also the extra Ram, better camera
Only if you want the mini, the normal 13 is worth it
Absolutely. People forget what it was like to pick up a Pro Motion iPad for the first time. It is wow experience. From a display standpoint, yes, it is exactly like seeing Retina for the first time.

It is a really big deal.

I sure hope it deals with the flare I occasionally get from the Sun that's quite aways out of the frame on my 12. I attribute that to the beveled edge glass lens cover sitting a millimeter above the reflective silver-gray round housing.

I've been tempted to get a pigment-based black pen to make it less reflective.

Apple today published a seven minute video positioned as a tour of the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, with the walkthrough coinciding with the pre-orders that are now live.

Filmed at the Tower Theater Apple Store in Los Angeles, the tour highlights the four available sizes, camera technology like Cinematic Mode and improved low-light performance, the Ceramic Shield display and IP68 water resistance, battery life, ProMotion Display, and more.

Apple suggests the video will help users choose the iPhone that's the right fit for them. The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro models are available for purchase as of today, and pricing starts at $699 for the iPhone 13 mini and goes up to a $1099 starting price for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Customers who pre-order today can expect to get their devices starting on Friday, September 24.

The more and more I see the Sierra Blue in these photos the more I like it.

Never understood why they put so many shining surfaces near the lens. Even the back glass have a mirror finish. Hope that it goes away with the rumored titanium iPhone next year...

You are crazy! People don't care about the RAM amount. They care how the phone works in specific conditions. RAM management is way more important than RAM itself. (Samsung can talk about this).
Serious about video? Have you not seen what the phone can do these days? It will open gates to teenagers dreaming to be filmmakers to make movies with just that.
If you want foldable phone then you are really in the wrong section.

I think it would be beneficial for you to educate yourself how and what the iPhone is for and then come here and rant about nonsense.
Working for Apple? ;) or losing too much on their stock. BTW, I use an iPhone too but I’m not a cultist like you many others on this forum

If creativity important, children should start with an old fullframe. With this fake cinematic effect they will learn 0.

It looks like the biggest thing about this year iPhone is the camera, which doesn’t seem to be a big thing except for people like you who don’t know much about photography and videography. You should educate yourself on that;)

Even serious photographers will use a phone camera. As the old saying among photographers go: The best camera is the one with you. Granted, a phone camera wouldn't be my first choice. But my DSLR ain't gonna get my that shot if I don't have it with me at the time. I almost always have my phone with me.

I'm pretty sure videographers hold the same view. You ain't gonna get a great video if you ain't got you camcorder on hand.

I'm not a cultist, trust me. Very vocal about certain things for sure.
Yeah, 10 years ago I did work for Apple - it was good job to have when studying for my field.

However, I can't help but notice how kids have almost endless possibilities compared to our generation.
If you are into art of filmmaking or photography, you can just pick up an iPhone (or any recent smartphone for that matter) and make your own movie with very little limitation.
You can explore photography etc. and see the results immediately. When I was a kid I had to wait for the film to develop and as I was a beginner, most pictures didn't come out right. The time we live in these days is awesome for those that want to take advantage of it.

If you read biography of any of the famous directors you will realise how limited their options were back in the days.

I don't have kids yet but you bet that when that time comes I would love for them to take advantage of this magical time we live in.

I'm lucky enough to remember the good old days too which gave me valuable skills too. (like learning how to climb a tree, start a fire with nothing etc. - something millennials have no clue about :) )

So, my post wasn't about being coolaid drunk on Apple. Just in general what opportunities we have these days. The guy was complaining about the amount of RAM that he needed to know etc. which is totally pointless. He should be asking : Can it do what I need it to do or not. That simple.

Specs are irrelevant if the software is not taking advantage etc.

Just like the M1 iPad Pro. So much power and yet the chip is pretty much useless for now as the iPad is crippled with the software.

Anyway, you got my point

Apple had to create this video because none of the new features are that compelling or differentiating.

after watching the video who thinks the word iPhone is starting to sound weird. Dude said iPhone literally like 500 times in this 7 min clip

LOL, this was the exact quote I was going to use in this thread. Even if you have a bunch of cameras in your bag, you pick the one that best accomplishes the task at hand - if a DSLR is too intrusive, you trade off image quality for a lower profile that lets you take the shot. We all did the same thing when shooting film too.

The same goes with pixel count. I still use tons of photos for publishing that were taken with my first Canon DSLR, the D30, purchased in Dec. 2000, with only 3.1 megapixels. But it had a bunch of $2000 L-series lenses in front of the sensor, so the quality of the images was amazing for such a tiny sensor. Even today, 20+ years later.
