It looks like the biggest thing about this year iPhone is the camera, which doesn’t seem to be a big thing except for people like you who don’t know much about photography and videography. You should educate yourself on that;)
I'm a person like him and have been using my iPhone for making photographs for the last ten years, with the last five years using it exclusively. What do you recommend I should educate myself about? Perhaps some favorite photographers I should be thinking about?

Also...I'm considering an iPhone 13. Can you help me out on making that decision?

So am I the only one that can't stand this video? The guy is pretty good but it is trying so hard to be this cool happening video yuck, too much cheese for me.

Cinematic mode: so fake blur that can't distinguish between a face and bricks?!?! hahaha... it's all cool but I'm keeping my XS and bring a real camera, thanks. I know what iPhone pictures look like on a 50 inch screen and they are garbage. What I really want is a 16inch MBP M2 and Mac Mini Pro M2.

They make a big deal out of Cinematic mode...but it is limited to 1080p. That really limits my interest in using it. And I doubt anyone that's actually trying to shoot a mini production of some kind is going to want degraded shots in 1080p while the rest of it is in 4K.

1. Throws pointless shade at new iPhone.
2. Acknowledges using a very old iPhone.

Sounds about right.

camera camera camera, all are crappy and most people don’t give a thing about focus pull. however is serous about video doesn’t use a phone.
What we need is to get rid of that stupid notch at the top of the display. How many more years we need to wait for that? The competition is making foldable display and Apple can’t even get a full display coverage without the notch. And when it comes to specs they only selectively point out things. We want to know what the amount of ram is inside compared with last year’s phones. Same display as last year except for higher refresh rates which again most people don’t care. And new colors, how stupid apple think consumers are?
Apple: if you don’t have a new phone you don’t need to repackage to release it every year. It would be more ethical to enable some of these features in iOS updates and bring a substantially better phone next year

It goes without saying that you are entitled to air your opinion, but I think you’re conflating “we” and you. Most people don’t care about any of the things you mentioned. They just want a spangly phone that looks pretty, does stuff and takes good pictures. So long as iPhones keep iterating and improving, people will keep buying them. No one is forcing anyone to upgrade every single year. People buy a new phone when they think the time is right for them. And every year hundreds of millions of consumers find themselves in that position. You’re overthinking it. Don’t be salty because you don’t want an iPhone 13. Other people can buy one on your behalf and enjoy it for you 👍

>Sigh!< It's so tiresome having to constantly remind tech-enthusiasts that unlike them, the VAST majority of iPhone buyers do NOT upgrade EVERY YEAR! They hang on to their phones for an average of 3 years, and someone coming from an iPhone 10s will be blown-away by the new models.

Camera, camera, camera? HELL YEAH! For a large number of users (apparently not you) photography is one of the more important uses of an iPhone. Apple clearly knows this, which is why they put so much effort into camera tech.

Yep. Every three years for me - or longer. I went from an 8 to a 12 last summer and only because the battery life was significantly depreciated.

Exactly this - I've always held by a 'buy flagship, keep longer' routine - I find a three or four year replacement cycle pretty ideal for my needs. My last watch upgrade: 1 > 4, my last iPad Pro upgrade 9.7" > 2020, and now iPhone X > 13 Pro.

It was a hard decision between the Gold, Sierra Blue, and Silver… I’ve had gold iPhone Pro Maxes for years, but this year I will try the Sierra Blue… it looked good in the video… hope I like it.

My iPhone X is still good as new. I suspect Apple is gonna treat this one like the iPad 2 and keep supporting it until 2025 or 2026 with iOS updates. It won’t get all the fancy new features but it will still be supported.

As for when I will get a new iPhone 2023 is it for me. And that will carry me through to 2027 when the 20th anniversary iPhone is launched. Going back to the X though, with each new iOS update, it’s like I am getting a brand new phone every year.

With photographs like these, there really is no complaint:

Absolutely. People forget what it was like to pick up a Pro Motion iPad for the first time. It is wow experience. From a display standpoint, yes, it is exactly like seeing Retina for the first time.

It is a really big deal.

I got my 12.9 about a year ago and I absolutely remember being wowed by the ProMotion. But as time went by I stopped noticing it all together.

If I were to pick up a 3GS right now I would absolutely notice its low res screen, but if I pick up my iPad Pro right now I do not recognize the 120hz like I did for the first few days of having it.

I don’t think it’s really a big deal at all based on my experience, but good to have just as an evolution of screen tech.

Looks like a disgusting baby blue, Lol..more like a fisher price toy! 😂

I'm not a fan of baby blue at all...but I bought one only because I really love my Pacific Blue so I'll try it. If I don't like this Sierra color in person, then please believe I'll be the first one in line to exchange for a Graphite 13PM.
