These ads honestly make me feel very sad - the banality, the triviality of the times we live in. When such expensive toys and smart people bring us... this.
Amusing ourselves to death.

So you want to bring back to boring, confusing, overcomplicated Blackberry world? Which one would you choose?

IMO, these ads are some of Apple's better ones as of late. They highlight the innovative tech in the product and are a bit less cheesy than some of their other ads. I look forward to the day when there are DC superhero emojis!

As an aside, I was a big fan of TouchID, so I was really skeptical of FaceID. However, I get far fewer false negatives than I did with TouchID and it just makes the whole user experience that much easier.

They certainly work very well. I am just waiting for something else to use the tech (I mean beyond face ID as well). Animoji isn't something I care about, at all. I tried one out. Worked as advertised. Still don't care.

Not a complaint, just an observation. I am sure there are folks out there that this is exciting for. Good for them!

It doesn’t fail...it can’t see you if you aren’t facing the camera. It’s one disadvantage like TouchID not recognizing wet fingers or fingers in gloves.
Is there a technical reason why it couldn't see you in landscape? Serious question, by the way. Looking at images of the IR map that it spreads on people's faces, I don't see why, technically speaking, it couldn't do the same in landscape.

What does demand have to do with anything? It's not just about the Animoji's, it's about the technology behind the Animoji and utilizing the new camera capabilities. Apple is using the Animoji's to demonstrate this.

Other than unlocking the phone seems that Animoji is the ONLY other feature Apple or programmers have yet to find any use of demonstrating this capability off.

This like PhotoBooth in OSX will be something better left ignored by all users soon enough.

I find it horribly embarrassing.

Rick sums it up quite succinctly!

Did you find this horribly embarrassing too?

Just as Animoji is soon enough yes that was silly and embarrassing. How often do YOu use photobooth on your Mac now?! Lol I’ll bet not at all.

Who still thinks trolls predicting Apple doom aren’t dreadfully wrong?

Why is he a troll when having an opinion, maybe an unpopular one? Forums are about different opinions.

BTW: I‘m curious if the iPhone X will outsell iPhone 7 or iPhone 7s and wouldn‘t bet at its current price point.

I agree...probably is possible and maybe just software.

Animoji is such a joke... Apple was clearly reaching for features to add in to the iPhone X. Animoji could of been on the iPhone 8, it just uses the front camera.

Welcome to the new age. If you don't like an opinion or an idea you throw a hashtag-like label at it and move on.

Marques Brownlee showed that you can cover up all the other sensors on the front of the iPhone X and just use the forward facing camera, and the Animoji will still work. Nothing special to the iPhone X, just an exclusivity ploy by Apple.

I also think this is the "photobooth" of iPhone. Not worth all the extra money to me. I'll take it when it comes at the regular price thank you.

I figured as much. Just like Siri when it was released. Gimicks to sell units. Let the fools pay extra for it. At least with Siri they didn't upcharge for it.

Any humidity on the touchId sensor leaves it useless.
Gotta say that was very uncommon for me. FaceID fails so often for me...outside in sunlight, laying on my side in bed, even scratching my face with the other hand while opening my phone. I do love my X, but am finding myself typing in the passcode more frequently than ever before.

Ha! Apple should be paying us to continually beta test Siri for them...

Totally agree. If they spent whatever time/money they used on animoji making Siri better I would be SO much happier.
