Perhaps that's the reason FaceID can be used by similar peple "because' Apple allowed detection of when a face "changed."

Based on the issues, its got work to do. I bet if users were asked to re-do FaceID when they grew a bead, there wouldn't be any issues with "i gave this person my phone and they unlocked it with FaceID"

Yeah, making $20b in profit in 90 days is going to be petty embarrassing...for every other company on earth.

Thanks to the naive / show offs. Animals have not changed in terms of “evolution” but yet I find them intelligent...

Samsung has done well too. People talk about Face ID as it is the best but other brands are a year or two behind, which is not relevant because Face ID is first gen. Samsung are developing foldable phone which turns into a tablet and batteries that can eventually fully charge in 12 minutes.

So we are not saying Apple is doomed, but what we are saying is that Apple has reached to it's peak, and they should not be too complacent by producing sub-par products like iPhone X and over charging their loyal customer who brought them to the top - we are not asking too much, eh?

It feels like I am repeating myself on every thread, I am not sure if I am talking to goldfish’s or what?

Who still thinks trolls predicting Apple doom aren’t dreadfully wrong?

Please read above

Still passing
If apple would release imessage to android Id have a shinny new Note 8. Thats not gonna happen so Ill just keep the 7plus and maybe the next iPhone will be something more than emojis

I realize the angst when you have always been a blue bubble. Since I have always been a green bubble it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, a friend's son was going on one night how you have to have an apple phone because apple message works only well when you, yourself, are an apple phone users. I don't know. I am in a group chat with my wife and her sisters and I never seem to run into a problem even though they all have apple phones.

Not hating but unless you got an aging device such as an iPhone 5 or want a bigger screen with an improved camera (<iPhone 6S) i still dont see the point in updating.

At the end of the day you will be using the same old iOS going back to the same apps as you were.

I pretty much do the same thing i did on my iPhone 6. i only updated to the 7 Plus cuz i wanted a bigger screen. Dont see the point in updating just to get a different method to unlock lol

Maybe when we get an iPhone XS Plus with Apple Pen support. One can dream

Did you find this horribly embarrassing too?

No.

Not only it's older customers but also new customers buying an iPhone 8 with the same A11 chipset as the X. There is absolutely no reason for that feature to be withheld on the 8 other than it being an arbitrary decision to give the X some exclusive functionality.

Is it really that big a deal? I doubt 8 Plus buyers could give a hoot about not being able to do Animated Unicorn Karaoke.

Honestly, I think this is all just because they couldn't make the fingerprint sensor under the screen work. This is a punt and a gimmick to sell the phone. I think all the "leaks" on fingerprint sensors on the back was to test public sentiment and when it all went South they went with "Plan B" which was faceid and a bunch of other shiny things to help sell it all.
Fake news.

Apple worked for 3 years to make FaceID happen, and they nailed it. iPhone X design was locked down in November of 2016. Since Apple had FaceID working, there was no need for a plan B.

Samsung has done well, but mostly in chips and oled screen production. Their phones are profitable, but the company’s profitability is driven by their manufacturing.

No one knows if Apple has reached its peak, you very much included. Based on their numbers, you’re entirely wrong. Your feelings don’t matter. Did you study their Q4 report? Objectively, it was outstanding. Growth across the business in all categories and all parts of the world. These numbers had no iPhone X and only 2 weeks of iPhone 8 and Watch 3.

You talk so confidently about what Samsung may or may not release. You have no idea what Apple might develop. Apple spent $11.5B in R&D in 2017. Rumors point to autonomous cars and AR glasses among other things like Micro LED panels. Jury is out on foldable phones, lol. We will see how it’s executed. Samsung doesn’t always execute well. Apple almost always does. Apple even got Samsung to produce a screen for them that is better than the screens Samsung outs on its own phones.

No question. In full iPhone X CPR Mode. :apple:
Right, because they weren’t going to market their product if the iPhone X was selling like they thought?

Do you guys even try to make sense or do you just hope it’s failing no matter what the facts say?

Explain the difference.

Ugh.... is it that hard to believe Apple would make something exclusive to a higher priced model because "it uses tech not in the older models" when that isn't true given that they did the same thing with Siri?

https://www.techgig.com/tech-news/t...ly-need-face-id-for-animoji-apparently-142199

I imagine that the jailbreak community will backport this just like they did Siri for a bit. Then Apple will do their patented lockdown on it and have code for "phone validation" or something just like Siri. It's just another gimmick to sell the product. No big deal, but it is what it is.

These ads honestly make me feel very sad - the banality, the triviality of the times we live in. When such expensive toys and smart people bring us... this.
Amusing ourselves to death.

Welcome to the club. Most have been afraid since the fart app, and games were the top apps on the AppStore.
