The biggest problem, IMO, is what the hell will actually translate well on a TV? There are so many great apps in the iOS App Store, but how many of them will anyone use on their TV set?

I wish I could have the ATV3 UI with the app store to play these games. The games are a little weak so far, but will probably be better in the future.

The ATV3 is far better imo when in comes to the UI being user friendly, if it only had the app store and a little more storage.
Yes, they are really nice. Also, I love to play some GBA and MAME games on it. I hope they release an N64 emulator soon.

Seems to me that Frogger, I mean Crossy Road is a fantastic game. Somewhat disappointed in their promotion of a rip-off product given the legal cases they've fought for their own IP.

The Netflix app on ATV4 is a neutered version compared to the Netflix channel on ATV3.

SMH
I like Netflix much better on atv4. It's certainly much, much faster. And the interface is fine.

It's both interesting and sad that there are so, so many negative apple bashing comments here that I really tend to ignore most of them. I really don't know which negative comments are sincere and which are just there for the sake of bashing apple, even if untrue. That's the consequence of a free for all board such as this. Most certainly, the negative comments here are nowhere close to reflecting the real world. Just walk into an apple store and it's obvious that apple is succeeding very well. If you listened to the comments here, you would think apple is near death. Finding useful info and sincerity here is simply getting harder and harder. the few intelligent comments are being overwhelmed by the silly and nonsensical.

It really exemplifies Apple of today. It's essentially a game from 30 years ago that is 10% game and 90% minimalist design statement.

I would have thought it would say something about the game developer, not Apple. Do 3rd party fart apps on a Samsung phone exemplify the Samsung of today?

Crossy Road looks terrible. This is the state of Apple Gaming.

I know.
I'm old enough to appreciate just how sad this looks.

It's at the quality of a games console/home computer from the 1980's. which would be ok, other than it's now almost 2016 and Apple are "SHOWING THIS OFF" as the cream of the crop of gaming on their system.

If I was them I'd be embarrassed about it, not displaying it.

Sheesh :(

No, but I don't expect Samsung would choose a poor app to show how low grade items they can offer.

Crossy Road has been one of my favorite iPad games for a nearly a year now. I'm surprised by how new it seems to be.

I am far from an Apple basher, look at all my previous posts. That said, I have to disagree with you about the new UI on ATV4. The ATV3 is so easy to use, my parents in their 60s, have no problem using the one I bought for them. I was going to buy them an ATV4 for xmas, but I think they may not use it do to is being more difficult.

Also, there is nothing wrong with people voicing their frustration with Apple and their products.

Apple sells their products for a premium price. People expect a premium products. Apple, especially lately, seems to have selling sub-premium products, at high prices.

As for the Apple store being packed, I think this is due to Apple selling quality stuff in years past. I kind of feel like Apple is slowing becoming what MS was 10 years ago, and if it continues, they might start to decline.

Required? Most of the games I've seen can use a third party controller. What else are you supposed to use for games?

Developers are complaining because your game as to be playable with that remote, it restricts them.

Along with the old A8 chip and the size limit for apps... just sucks.

It needed that A9X and an official controller from Apple, then they could have competed with the consoles and developers would have jumped on board.

Apple TV wont be picked up as a result.

GTA V could run on the A9X chip... but not the A8 and gamers build platforms up, gamers are the app store and I'm sorry that Apple still fail to understand that.

Seriously , for starters how these Copy Road characters get away with copying FROGGER is a mystery.
Oh there were already countless frogged clones within a few years of its release. Same for all the early arcade games. And even today it's pretty common for developers to copy gameplay mechanics from popular titles. (Eg. Every recent beat 'em up has clearly taken cues from the Batman Arkham series)

The issues with ATV4 are bad enough, but these commercials are kinda sad.
The Netflix one is kinda strange. It is almost like Apple wanted to use marketing student's advertising projects, but Apple decided to pick the lowest graded ones.

The Crossy Roads one isn't bad, and the racing one is okay though.

Why? The game is really popular, loved by almost anyone who plays it.

the "product" is TV OS for Apple TV. Apple always has a mixture of OS and hardware commercials. Plenty of iOS9 commercials that do not show an iPad or iPhone
Mmm, I don't think there's a single iPhone or iPad commercial that doesn't show the devices. It's obviously not the same though, you use your iPhone or iPad to do stuff, you don't use the Apple TV phisically. Maybe they could show the Siri Remote but that's it.

Bought one on release day, and its going back. Virtually no advance on ATV3 despite years of work from apple. STILL 1080p. The games are mindless drivel. The remote is more difficult to use than the old one. The voice control only works for some things forcing you to remember what it can and can't do.

It they want to charge lots for it, give it a A9X and a proper game controller. Port some big name games and MAKE IT 4K!!

Very frustrating.

What size 4k TV you got bro?

:D

Hisense is copying Apple TV translucency effect for its new user interface VIDAA Lite

Errr, Crossy Road is most definitely not minimalist design. More like the polar opposite.

More difficult how? Its essentially the same thing with a grid of icons, it couldn't be more easy. In fact I showed it to my 70 year old mum and she thought it was still the old Apple TV box!

I know this would have required an actor, but having a guy/girl with the Siri remote using Siri to find the item on Netflix, would have been far more compelling and would have shown the USP, how to use it and the hardware, I could have made their ad in 10 minutes and it looks and feels that way.

Either do it right or not at all..
