All the things they could choose to highlight in a commercial about the new Apple TV and they chose Netflix. Wow.
While I agree with most others here that these ads kinda suck, can you name another app on TV (besides YouTube) that most of the world can relate to? Most people know what Netflix is or at least has heard of it.

One could argue (and have a very valid point) that the Roku is cheaper and offers substantially more functionality in terms of content than the latest Apple TV does at present. The only things Apple TV can do that Roku cannot is AirPlay and a handful of games. I'm sure that will change over time; but right now, it's impossible for me -- a 3rd gen ATV owner -- to justify buying the 4th gen ATV.

Also, what device/"smart TV" doesn't have Netflix built in? At this point, Netflix is basically understood to be included because without Netflix, the product would almost certainly be DOA.
I have ATV on one TV. Roku on the rest. Still attached to cable TV which I am sure is a factor.

Netflix is an important part of any streaming device. It's quite fine for apple to let customers know that netfilx is on the apple tv. I'm not sure why you don't get this.

I've got a few apps that are great and every entertaining. I certainly don't need an xbox.

They are quite fine.

Very silly discussion. What's the point?

I can't even begin to understand this statement. And the apple tv4 is just fine.

SlipperySlop is objectively right, you're all objectively wrong. Please stop trying to state your opinions and attempting humor. Everything about this product and ad campaign is "quite fine"! Move along.

The only apps I really want to come are those that make my cordcutting experience better, a Vudu app, Amazon, Starz and Encore, etc, where are these apps ? If they come along with other streaming content apps I'll be happy everything else is just gravy

Why does Apple advertise Netflix? Every smart device has it, and since Stan Lee is now in charge of Netflix TV series, I choose Amazon Prime..it's night and day better

Apple give me Amazon Prime, Starz and an exclusive game similar to Infinity Blade, and I'm all for it!

Was that
Apple is compromising their integrity by promoting Disney Infinity for AppleTV. It's such a terrible port that Apple should in fact bury it, yet no doubt because of a business relationship with Disney, they're promoting it instead.

It took 10 minutes of load screens with 5, yes FIVE different loading bars on the screen at once (who designed this crap UI?), registering for an account with a horrible mixed UI and then waiting another 10 minutes of more load screens to discover that playing this game with the Siri remote is a terrible experience.

I'm not one to complain much but this game port is so laughably bad, I can't believe that Apple would want to be associated with it. Right now, there are thousands of people who have seen this ad and are trying the app at Apple's suggestion. If this is what Apple recommends, how bad are the other games and apps on AppleTV?

Meanwhile, there are games that translate beautifully to AppleTV in their control mechanism using only the Siri remote that should be highlighted. Alto's Adventure is the best example yet.
Was it downloading the game?

I disagree, Apple made the right decision, Apple TV will sell like hot cakes because it's for everyone..not just for gamers. Throwing an x-box controller in the box..it's not innovating at all, hopefully in the future the Siri remote will get more features like Force Touch, Touch ID and maybe others so you can get better experience when playing Arkham City.
I don't understand this statement at all. The ATV, although a good device, has never sold like hot cakes. The iterations in the ATV4 won't make it any more hot or cakey. Although it's not just for games, a significant portion of Apple's marketing is highlighting the ATV's gaming capabilities. So obviously Apple thinks the gaming component is important. Throwing a controller in the box may not be innovating (what exactly is innovative about the ATV4) but it would be a serious indicator Apple has plans to go beyond casual iPhone games. I'm sorry but playing Arkham City or any substantial game would literally, metaphorically speaking, blow chunks using that remote. IMO, of course.

Before people say I am just an Apple hater, look at most of my previous posts, I have been an Apple supporter since the mid 90s, and up until recently, I would recommend Apple products over their competition.

I have the new ATV4. The UI is horribly design. I know that some people complained that the ATV3's UI was outdated, but it was simple to use.

The new UI for Netflix looks nice, until you want to look for something to watch. I wanted to look for standup comics today, and that was pointless. What happened to genres on Netflix? Or shows and movies that are similar?

Hulu is okay, maybe a slight improvement other than using the IR remote. The buttons are inconsistent between video apps.

The bugs are annoying, especially the sound bug which plays sound at a low volume, then high, then low and so on.

Using the new ATV, and many other things that Apple has been doing lately has made me question whether to use Apple products in the future.

Great ads. I like how the colored bars interact with the content. This campaign is smart.. focuses on apps which will only get better with time.

I like the new Apple TV, but man, it just feels so incomplete. I can't even put my finger on exactly what it is yet, but that feeling is definitely there for me. I'm eagerly awaiting new apps to hit the App Store, because right now, there's a lot of junk in there and very few standout apps.

Why bother upgrading from your Apple TV 3? Or Roku? Or drain your phone battery?
Never said it was worth upgrading to at this point. I do expect that the AppleTV ecosystem will eventually surpass the Roku, and even the Fire TV... Likely the real reason Amazon decided to pull it from their site... But as for right now I say unless you have $150 to burn, stick with what you've got.

You're at home. You can plug your phone in.

I can't play crossy road on my Apple TV3

I wish I could have the ATV3 UI with the app store to play these games. The games are a little weak so far, but will probably be better in the future.

The ATV3 is far better imo when in comes to the UI being user friendly, if it only had the app store and a little more storage.

All they are showing is games and videos. What is the product, is it an actual Apple TV, a box etc.

They are selling something and they don't show what they are selling. At least with the iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac they actually show what the product is and what it does in a quick and entertaining ad.

I love my ATV 4 but this is just complete crap.

At least show the unique remote, and how easy it is to use and actually use the apps and games with.

You are watching it wrong!

Seriously , for starters how these Copy Road characters get away with copying FROGGER is a mystery.

Then not to show the ease of use etc.etc. boggles the mind.

Looks like kids in elementary school got to do an art project with daddy's Hi-8 camera.

If it's not an Apple TV it's not an Apple TV!

Really.

Do you own one of the new ATVs? I do, and the remote sucks for games. I also own two of the new Nimbus controllers, which I'd prefer to use.

I can name a few things for you:

Bugs, such as the audio bug.
Near unusable UI for Netflix.
No universal search for stuff stored on the computer.
Universal search works maybe 75% of the time. Try looking up: "standup comics", "standup comedy", "Noah Wyle".
Voice-over turns ons way too easily.
Lack of good apps in the app store.
The remote button placement is not user friendly, especially for games.
IR remote functions are messed up and inconsistent between apps. Example, to pause a video, sometimes the select button works, and sometimes it doesn't.

There are others, but I figured I could listing something to put your finger on.
