I'll be honest and I know I'll piss people off here by saying this but I've found 3D touch to be pretty 'meh'. I was really excited for the feature but you just have to press way too hard. I've got it set to the most sensitive level and I have to grip the phone harder with my other fingers and push much harder than I've ever tapped on the screen before to activate 3D touch. It means I just don't use it, it's too awkward.

I also think it is meh, but I realize it is very early in the tech. I think it will make the touch user interface much more efficient in the future but we just aren't there yet. Over the next 20 years or so we'll wonder how people ever did without it probably.

This is one cool ad... The energy, the speed and Mr. Fox. is just awesome... Great job - makes a great demonstration of the 6S - makes me wanna buy one.

It's a very cool feature, I keep forgetting the phone has :)

Liking my 6S more and more

I absolutely love 3D Touch. Yes, it may be a little limited, but its up to developers to make it have good use. WhatsApp for example, hasn't really compelling Quick Actions. Only 'Search' and 'New chat'. Would have loved to see something like a shortcut to your latest conversation. Do use Peek for photos and videos though. :)

Overall 3D Touch works great. Not only Peek and Pop, and Quick Actions. Also the system based features like the trackpad and the ability to easily switch between apps by force pressing the side. Found myself using the home button less than ever before.

Hopefully, developers are going to take even more advantage of 3D Touch. The good thing however, is that it's already being adopted quickly. Many apps on my iPhone have it as of now. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, Scanner Pro, OV Delay (Dutch transportation app), IMDb and more. Plus of course, many of the default apps. I think adoption is going even faster than last year with Touch ID, am I right or not? :p

Anyway, like the ad! Apple did a good job on this one.

I got an iPhone 6s for a little over a week and I returned it. I feel that 3D Touch isn't there yet. I was intrigued when I heard about it but was thoroughly disappointed when I got it. The only place where I found it useful was switching between apps. Otherwise it's not much faster than tapping. Trackpad mode didn't always work for me. And it's even worse in Safari—most websites are optimized for mobile phones so all I saw was the page title, rendering it useless. Having to hold my finger to wait for the page to load was tiring at best. Also, when previewing, my finger blocks the content.

Overall I think it's a solid upgrade for iPhone 5s (or older) users, but not much really has changed from the iPhone 6. Maybe when developers get creative with it, its potential will shine. Yet Xcode 7 (nor 7.1 Beta) doesn't support force inputs in the Simulator even on Macs with Force Touch trackpads so I think we'll continue to see a slow adoption pace.

I love the new 6S. Because it means I don't have to upgrade my 6. Apple has run out of features, but they feel the need to update every year. So they came up with this nonsense.

I'm sure the ad is very slick and all, but I really don't get what 3D touch is or why I'd want it, so it fails in its primary purpose. It's style over substance.

Maybe 3D touch is like Force Touch on the Apple Watch, which is just mostly confusing and annoying and I almost never use it.

Here's one thing that hasn't changed: Apple massively over-hyping its own products and the fanboys going crazy with excitement.

PS I'm a fanboy. I'm just not a crazy one.
PPS I want the new Apple TV and I want it now. Its screensavers are little movies instead of pictures. THIS BLOWS MY MIND, obviously.

Really not sure why a press and hold can't do exactly the same as 3D Touch on ANY device.

All Apple would then need to do would be to change the action to delete an app.

Force Touch is technically not needed at all.

Well I, for one, quite like 3D Touch. Whenever I'm using my iPad Air 2 I find myself pressing a web link etc and expecting to be able to "Peek" and "Pop".

As more and more third party devs. intergrate it into their apps (as well as Apple) it'll definitely serve more of a useful purpose.

Be great if someone could develop a trackpad for iPhone to use on your Mac that allowed you to use Force Touch without buying a Trackpad 2.

Ive given 3D Touch a shot, and I'm convinced at this point it's a gimmick. I'd rather tap and let something fully load than have to hold my finger on it while I peek. This may change with 3rd party development in the future.

Most of the you tube reviews say there's just not enough apps taking advantage of this new feature and that it won't fully develop until iPhone 7 is released, is this true?

3D Touch is good, but not great, and surely not necessary.

If I 3D Touch on a link, the peek will still open the whole webpage and loads everything. If the website is large, it takes a lot of time, and the loading needs to repeat if the peek accidentally disappears and I 3D Touch it again.

Peeking of images are more useful, but I don't see why I couldn't just tap the picture to open it.

But the flight info thing is interesting and I never tried it before. I'm wondering if this is a built-in function of iOS? Can I activate it anywhere else like Spotlight? (Edit: Spotlight is negative. Typing in a flight number shows nothing.)

3D Touch, the most innovative feature on iPhone since the iPhone.

The other problem with 3D touch for peeking at emails/websites, is that your finger is in the middle of the screen, so 'peeking' is annoying because of the obstruction of your finger.
It's frustrating because not only is Apples UI inconsistent, it's backwards.

Home Screen Force - 3D Touch triggers menu that stays on screen after release (Usually a "Create New.." Dialog)

In-App Force - 3D Touch pops preview that disappears (Usually quick glance data you want to preview)

Peek should stay on screen after release like on OSX. Hit the preview to open it and tap to go away.

But just like Live Photos it all goes away on release so it's difficult to see the whole view without "thumbstruction".

The new tagline, "The only thing that's changed is everything," is at least better than "if it's not an iPhone it's not an iPhone."

The commercial was fine but Apple's tagline have lately felt a bit flat.

I remember when they had good stuff like, "Think different."

But then the phone couldn't tell the difference between a peek and a pop. I've found that to be useful.
