Out of curiosity, just how much of 4K video will you be able to take on base 16Gb model straight out of the box?

Yah, we get it. You, and many others, disapprove of the 16GB model. So don't buy it. Problem solved. Unless your real beef is that then 64GB model should be priced the same as the 16GB model is? That's an entirely different complaint. Are you displeased that Apple is charging extra for something that they should not be?

4k video recording!

'Specially for 16GB iPhone users.

Siri-ously, I fear that advertising Siri is not advisable these days, considering its poor reputation compared to Google's effort. My humble advice to Apple: give up on voice; it's not worth it.

Still, if Apple can increase on its growth of 40% from last year with these ads, then all well and good. We'll know on Tuesday at the earnings call, then more fully in January.
Google... lol. Because Google Now let's me control my home and... oh wait. It doesn't? Fail. They do excel at selling my personal data though. What an accomplishment!!!

Android operating isn't perfect, but it is advancing faster and farther than IOS, which is a shame. I think in time Microsoft and or others will replace that imac or Ipad of yours. Tim won't destroy Apple, but he is pulling a Ballmer.

Tim really needs to go!

Because those users get all those updates... lol

I get no pleasure in saying I fully agree with you, ST. I was going to go for the 6S but after seeing and using the S6Edge I realised that actually the bogey man stories of Samsung phones is just that ... made up. Although - it's only in 2015 that Samsung went for quality build and OS ergonomics - previous stuff was too clunky and menu-heavy. IOS started life as the antithesis to that.

Now IOS has ironically become heavy and clunky. The reason I moved TO Apple stuff. Its by no means been an easy transition but the superior camera/software, ease of use and style win me over every time I use it now. Samsung were certainly guilty of plagiarism of their rivals' ideas and products. Now that Apple has taken its eye off the ball for the past two years, they've taken advantage of this and moved into the overtaking lane.

Too many Cooks (sic) spoiling the broth and laurel resting could be a lot of the problem but it's too late to start looking back. Apple needs to rethink why they got where they are. And it wasn't through making Wacom style styluses (Pencil), Turing-test talk-bots (Siri), iPhones on steroids (the iPad Pro) or for that matter iPhones shrunk to pocket size (the Apple Watch) then having the nerve to reinvent them all as something revolutionary. Again.

Let's hope 2016 is the year Apple stopped renovating the old stuff and starte innovating the new stuff.

Yeah baby!

Nobody cares about Samsung's failure of a phone

Why does Apple spend money on ads for iPhone when, year-after-year, they say they have record sales and can't keep them in stock? Do they really think people need an advertisement to sell them on buying an iPhone? Seems it sells itself.

Well you sort of answered your own question. How do you think the iPhone remains so popular? Keeping it in people's faces by way of redundant advertisement. I've been a Mac user for 18 years, worked at Sprint for 7 years and had the best phones. After leaving I saw no reason to have anything more than a basic cell phone. It wasn't until the iPhone 4S that Apple was able to get me into buying one.

You have to see it from a non-forum member, non-techie position. Not everybody even knows the point of these smartphones and as hard as it is to believe, there are still hundreds of thousands of people who don't own a cell phone and still need to be convinced.

Is it just me or all three commercials the black men all have Rose Gold.

I do love all of them the first with (I had to Google) Selena Gomez was hot!

I'm really not keen on this celebrity endorsement adverts. "Oh Jamie Foxx uses an iPhone? And he's a millionaire! I guess I should too"

As for Siri, I've got to the point where I've straight out disabled it. The only time I've ever used it is when I held down my home button too long. It has never given me consistent recognition when I speak normally, and I have a typical, pretty clear British accent.

@ Coolfactor Are you on some medications? Or am I supposed to ask any random question by going through with your approval first?
Making stuff up just as you go along, whatever you're smoking perhaps it'd be best to keep it to yourself while you laze around in your Apple undies.

I mean Jesus, you say one thing and this one guy just jumps off the roof thinking of another.
Get some help mate. (Another one down the Ignored list, ah lunatics)

Interesting that Apple is advertising 4k and "HD" in an ad like this that seems to target the masses, masses which get base 16GB iPhones. It'd seem to me they should put a disclaimer "iPhone 64GB or higher recommended for 4k and sorry that we are too greedy and still ship 16GB storage in 2015"

Even if i really just want to beat the **** out of Apple sometimes, when i calm down and get back to it. Apple is still awesome.

Apple should better not promote vertical videos and instead of Wlan assist, they better
should have an automatic switch in iOS 9 to landscape videos, or do you have an vertical
Macbook screen ;-)?

Ha ha. Yeah. I love(d) that story too.

Until I actually used one. And found the superior camera. 360°panoramas,pausable video, superior voice recognition, induction charging, fast charging, instant on camera press, built in IR TV remote and pulse oximeter. All innovative stuff I didn't even know was standard BEFORE I switched. And I'm still discovering stuff daily. And double (128gb) the memory and a third less cost? Loyalty has to be justified. And IOS is tired and baggy now. Each update doesnt excite any more. FaceTime was revolutionary. Imessage similarly so. Ideas are now thin on the ground and stuff like Force Touch complicates usability. Not simplifies. And that was the straw that broke the camels back for me. My iPhone using mates are still.iPhone using mates. When they see my rival phone they're very impressed. But won't ditch for fear of the unknown. I can't blame them. But even they will switch if Samsung et al continue to improve next year as they have done in 2015. It'll be an interesting twelve months for all.concerned.

Is it only me or...? "Hey Siri" doesn't work anymore in my car when I plugged my iPhone in.

I use Hey Siri this way all the time. Get into the car after work, plug it in, and say, "Hey Siri, tell my wife I'm on my way home" is a regular thing.

I've also tested and found that the individual voice recognition works very well in my family (i.e. my phone hears me, my wife's responds to her voice, and so forth). I've actually tested lining up all four family phones next to each other and each of us says, "Hey Siri" and the correct one responds. I do so wish, however, that the 5s enabled Hey Siri without being plugged in. Saying "Hey Siri where the hell are you?" around the house would be a regular thing.

BTW I find it hard to believe Siri doesn't realize she's talking to THE Jamie Foxx; she should know EXACTLY how attractive he is.

Oh, and she definitely says "That sh*t's changed" at the end of the first video, closed captioning be damned.
