Good video. Much better than the last set to win over Android users.
Still not enough to win me over from my Pixel 2 XL

Apple this afternoon uploaded a new iPhone X video to its YouTube channel, which is designed to show off Face ID, the facial recognition feature of the iPhone X.

In the humorous video, which appears to take place at a high school, using Face ID on the iPhone X causes everything in the surrounding area to unlock, including lockers, cabinets, doors, and more, with items flying everywhere.

Apple has shared several video ads focused on the iPhone X, including short tutorials and demonstrations of features like Face ID, Animoji, Portrait Mode, and Portrait Lighting.

This minute-long video will likely be aired on television in the coming days and weeks.

100% agree. Late Apple adds are just... bad. This is not as awful as that kid asking What's a computer, but damn, what kind of ******** ad is this? Apple under Cook is just behaving like a fashion brand, selling fashion statements and disposable goods.

Used to have an iMac 27" 2011, MacBook Pro 2009 and several iPhones. I only keep the iPhone SE and the old MacBook Pro (running Win10).

When the MacBook goes toast, I don't see myself buying another one from Apple (no user side upgrades, all glued up, no thanks).

As for the iPhone... Apple better release an iPhone SE 2 keeping same form factor and the 3.5 mm jack. Otherwise I'm jumping to android and won't look back.

I am incredibly displeased with Apple.

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. .. .Oh, and blah, I don't believe anything you said buddy.

That ad was entertaining in the same way the Microsoft Surface dancing ads were. I'm sure someone thought they were amusing, but they aren't to my taste at all.

If Apple wanted to get the the FaceID unlock message across they would have been much better off showing one person across multiple scenes with a hat, sunglasses, long hair, short hair, bleached hair, a beard, a huuuggge pimple, and other changes to demonstrate FaceID "just works" regardless of how you change your appearance.

This ad missed the mark pretty bad IMHO.

Ummm... you mean like these two?

What a terrible ad. Are they trying to imply that FaceID grants a user access to things that they should not have access to? (By the way, I love FaceID, just not this ad)
Yes... they wanted people to think they could unlock anything by looking at it.... FFS where do you people come from?

So no one finds an ad for a security feature of a computing device that shows a girl accessing and trashing other people’s lockers (evidently telepathically) to be a little odd? To me it seems like a malicious user (girl) is gaining unauthorized access to property and making a mess.
Well then the target for the commercial wasn't you.

That was fun and completely unpretentious! It felt like old school Apple. They should continue this direction with their advertising and stay away from psuedo-intellectual teenyboppers climbing trees with a $900 iPad.

Horrible ad. What’s the message? Your face opens up every locker in school? Not cool. Not smart.

I don't need anyone's validation for my statements. That's my personal experience and perspective on the matter at hand. Take it or leave it, up to you.

What I get from this ad… One single person can unlock anything with her face. Perhaps if instead they had a bunch of people looking at her phone to try to break in, and only she can see things like that text message at the end. I like the energy of the ad, but not the message it conveys.

It is Spike Jonze.

This ad is with Stranger Things vibe targeted to high schoolers. I like it. I like Face ID. I don't like the notch and stupid notifications.

Sorry, you're right of course - I had Spike Lee on the mind as i'd just been watching a long interview with him!

P.S. I love the notch.

This ad demonstrates how far the Apple brand has fallen. I love Apple. But what happened the ads that expressed the importance of technologies such as Siri, TouchID and now FaceID. For example ads that show how Siri can help in an emergency situation. This ad expresses disorder.. from a brand that used to stand for perfection down to the packing material used for the boxing of each product.

Apple can't advert Siri, because Siri is crap!

Right. Now try lying down on the bed and holding iPhone X at half an arm's length, as you normally would lying down.

"iPhone X has crapped its pants. Your passcode is required to enable FaceID. Please don't tell Tim Cook, he's busy with social justice."

Mine works fine like that. Next question?

Really stellar UX design, too.
I know there is a very brief moment where this happens....but...surely the GREATER bug (new feature?) in this ad is the fact that the padlock at the end opens while she doesn’t even look at it...she’s behind the guy’s back...has Apple been working on X-ray unlock for future iPhones??? ☘️

No, yet it matches nothing anywhere., so return the damn thing or it didn't happen.
Got that buddy. You can "take" me calling you a liar and a fabulist as you wish.

Got that buddy. You can "take" me calling you a liar and a fabulist as you wish.

First of all, I'm not your buddy. I am rather mindful with whom I associate myself.
Secondly, you got so lost that not even a map is going to help you out.
What exactly do I have to return? My old iMac 27" mid 2011 that got a toast GPU and I sold for parts on eBay because I was unwilling to pay 700 EUR for an old as hell gpu replacement? Or you talking about my old MacBook Pro that I still keep running on Windows 10? Or perhaps this is about my current iPhone SE? Or maybe you are talking about my old iPhone 6 Plus that I had for a year and half, got fed up with it and sold to buy the SE? You see, you'll have to be more precise than just rambling around.

On the other hand, before accusing people of things, it's a good exercise to think twice what you're going to say and think if there's any value on it.

That was one of the best Apple ads I’ve seen in a long time. Fun, colorful and vibrant - with a great “wouldn’t it be nice if everything worked as easily” vibe. This would’ve placed highly in a Super Bowl spot. Face ID is arguably the X’s biggest advance in tech and sensors over the competition. It’s smart to find an entertaining way to highlight that capability and make it cool to the new generation of iPhone buyers.
