Apple Shares New Videos Aimed at Luring Android Users to iPhone

So? The second question when using the app move to iOS is about what about WhatsApp messages. Apple could ask WhatsApp to do a tool for that or something.

Moving from iOS to android a lot easier and even with WhatsApp -messages. You just fetch the database -file from the iPhone backup -> move it to Android -phone's mass storage -> use a legit app to translate it to a WhatsApp Android -backup -> install WhatsApp on Android -> return the backup from phone's mass storage.

On iOS? Not a chance..

Of course this is not a deal breaker to so many people. But some won't change from iOS to Android because of the iMessage. Of course there is an app for iMessage on Android, but I don't how well does it work.

Very unlikely for Apple to ask WhatsApp to do that. Apparently WhatsApp doesn’t care; otherwise they would have provided a way to do that.
As you can see, they don’t care, just as they don’t care to make their app compatible with the iPad.

It will take a lot more than that, from what I can tell. The smartphone industry has peaked, and like it or not, the iPhone isn’t as compelling a device as it used to be.

"Just not compelling" he says as close to a quarter of a BILLION people on the planet will buy one this fiscal year, at higher ASP then ever before.

98% of Android users choose android phones because they are cheaper. No amount of cute advertising is going to change that.

Facts are otherwise grasshopper. Here's some recent examples of how wrong you are. Once Android users get exposed to the benefits of the iPhone, they switch by the millions. This shows that tens of millions are switching each year.

"The good news for Apple is that relative to earlier quarters, they attracted a higher percentage of iPhone buyers from Android phones. In the past three quarters before the June 2017 quarter, Android owners had represented 14% to 17% of iPhone buyers. With lengthening upgrade cycles and a growing percentage of owners with the most recently released models, continued platform switching will be important to the success of the next iPhones …"

And,

"20% of consumers surveyed said that they were switching over from an Android device."

I must be doing something wrong then. I just bought my girl an Ocean Depths Essential PH-1 to replace her bunk LG G4 and when she signed in, nothing started autoinstalling. I had to manually pull down all of her apps and arrange them as she liked them (she was working on a paper, so I offered. She's not tech-illiterate.).

Yeah I might just have good luck not too sure. I haven't bought the Essential Phone yet but plan to when I trade my S8 for the S9 in a few weeks.

Personally, I only hate these kinds of posts when they fail to mention specific examples. What part of the iOS UI do you consider archaic? I think the latest iteration of iOS has done some fantastic things with the UI, definitely a massive improvement over earlier versions of iOS.

Oh jeez where do I start, spring board full of icons auto arranging top left corner, notifications not grouped together, iphone X specific: having to hold the app before closing, very little ability to customize anything.

Not UI based but annoying a big increase bugs, a ton of features constantly being delayed.

If you're going to call me out lets hear the "fantastic things" Apple has done to the UI.

The only thing I can think of is the look to see what your notifications say with FaceID. FaceID itself has it drawbacks on flat surfaces or when I'm lying down I guess my face looks all different.

My complaints my seem small but the greatly affect most people's day to day use. Having to use an extra step for reachability and swipe away every notification to keep certain ones live is a huge pain and time waste.

Are you too cheap to buy your kid a decent Android phone? Sounds like a typical Apple fan.

Yeah i am, Android supposed to be equally good but cheaper without the Apple tax and i can add memory later on with a card, yes?

The best advertisements for iPhone are cheap Androids and a lot of people buy cheap Androids, not just me.

We are at the F- series vs Silverado point. Ads don't change brand preference. They arm their userbase with copy and remind customers to upgrade.
Agreed. This has nothing to do with android owners switching to Apple...it’s to remind current Apple users why they should remain with Apple. The headline in this article is wrong. It’s about keeping the user base...not luring android to Apple.
[doublepost=1519776163][/doublepost]These ads are terrible. Trying to be cutsie is not the Apple way. Garbage.

Ah so Apple are worried about the new S9 then, considering it’s markedly cheaper then the iPhone X it should be!
If they don’t drop the price of the 11 and then start the 11 Plus from say 1200 to 1300, then Apple will lose sales I think no matter how many videos it makes.

I couldn't agree more. The galaxy s9 is just as functional and gorgeous (If not more) than the iPhone x and yet it's cheaper.

Not everyone is willing to pay a grand for an iPhone x. Those who could care less whether they have an ios or Android device could jump ship and get a s9.

Post numbers or you’re riffing. Loyalty was at an all time high according to Apple in May 2016. They mentioned something similar in the last couple quarters.

Regarding North America being the last holdout, just lol.

North America isn’t even the biggest revenue driver for Apple. Since the group North and South America, it’s estimated over 60% of Apple revenue is out of the states. Have you seen Japan, the UK, or even Urban China? iPhone and Apple in general are killing it.

Tim Cook: “In Urban China and the U.S., the top five smartphones last quarter were all iPhones. And in Japan and the UK, six of the top seven were iPhones.”

Apple is a lot more successful today than ever before.
Do you have any other sources about Apple's figures besides from Apple? Of course they're going present the numbers that favor them. On a related note, the salesman at my Toyota dealership says Toyotas are the best cars out there :p

You're kidding me, right? Pixel xl, S8, Note 8 are about the same price of the iPhone 8/X. I pick pixel because of the camera, battery life, and stock Android. I'd say you're out of touch, but the mods on here won't let you say one bad thing about someone.

I know 4 co-workers who own iPhone X, but ride the bus to work because they cant afford a car. So who's cheap now?

What are you talking about? I think you quoted the wrong person, check my original message.

Apple’s numbers are the only numbers. You do realize they can’t lie, right? It would be very foolish to do so as the SEC would be all over a public company misleading investors. The numbers are real and audited.

Do you know anything about public companies? Apple has no history of misleading investors like most good companies.

They should post an ad showing that Indian character that takes down their apps and then ask Android users if they want to switch.

Or an ad that shows iPhone lasting 1/2 the time as the average Android phone battery life and taking 4 times longer to charge.

or an ad showing a constant stream of iOS updates to fix problems that only introduce more issues.

iPhone, today, is a platform of well polished problems that are more reminiscent of Android of the 2000's then the Android of today.

These ads feel very desperate by a company that is scaling back iPhone X production due to a lack of expected demand and the increasing perception this company can't deliver quality anymore and by starting to do the whole "us vs them" ads to trying and squeeze a few extra sales.

When Apple does well, their "few" ads never mention the competition, whey they do poorly their "frequent" ads mention the competition by name. This is a VERY accurate portrayal of their advertising campaigns for all their history.

Steve Jobs said if you do a product right you don't need to advertise, so it is very clear from these ads how Apple is performing these days.

QuickTime Player. Apologies for the troll dig ;)

Oh no worries at all, I giggle to be honest, plus you replied to help me out. For that I'm grateful. Turns out the method I used still fails (I selected "EDIT" and then tried to drag the picture into the edit window inside Contacts.

Your method ... dragging the picture over the actual picture bubble area worked like a charm.

Only thing that's funny is Android SoC performance in 2018.

Why is it funny? Adults don't buy devices to run silly synthetic benchmarks when they can use features like DeX for desktop alternative. iPhones lack DeX, VP9 hardware acceleration for YouTube, pen input and even basic old features like split screen multitasking, background multitasking, etc.

True, very true. Also, Android phones devaluate way faster, so, you can get quite decent androids for cheap, after a few months from release.

Not sure if that really true.. The price of smartphone components decline over their lifetime. Most Android OEM's like Samsung pass the saving back to customers frequently, whereas Apple pockets the growing difference until the new phone comes out. If you call that devaluation, I'd let you have that.

Most android users I know are cheap in most aspects of their life, tech included.

The few that care most about tech are intrinsically attracted to the inconvenient ways of doing things.

As a OnePlus and rMacBook owner, most iPhone users I know are very insecure in most aspects of their life, tech included. They seem to believe that flashing Apple logo somehow elevates their sense of fashion or economic status -- especially those with a circular hole on the back of their iPhone case to show off Apple logo.

I'm talking more stuff like how they never separate out how well their iPhones did, Apple Watch, Ipod Touches... they always combine those sales into the same, lump figure.

They don’t have to report unit sales and I wish they’d stop. People get too enamoured with meaningless unit sales for a 90 day period. If they just reproduce $64B in iPhone revenue, people would have rejoiced.
