With the way things are going today I'm waiting for Apple's follow-up announcement, "Content can only be viewed on the new Apple TV 4K." 😉

Seems unlikely. They want to increase their market penetration.

Apple today shared the first teaser trailer for its upcoming science fiction thriller series, "Invasion." The show will premiere on Apple TV+ later this fall, on October 22.

"Invasion" stars Sam Neill, Shamier Anderson, Golshifteh Farahani, Firas Nassar, and Shioli Kutsuna. The plot centers around an unknown extraterrestrial threat invading the planet, with multiple storylines taking place across different locations around the globe.

Earlier this week, Apple shared a trailer of all the shows coming soon to Apple TV+ this summer and beyond, including new seasons of "Ted Lasso" and "The Morning Show." It also highlighted upcoming new shows like "Foundation," "Schmigadoon!," "Physical," and more.

Any extraterrestrial species capable of interstellar space-travel would certainly be capable of taking over our planet literally in their lunch-break.

But sure, you can have a take at this 15 minute period from 50 different people...

Will this be a real sci-fi? Or will it be 90% housewife drama like For All Mankind?

You know, I stopped watching this new trend of shows because they fill up the show with a bunch of meaningless dialogs that could have been at least interesting conversations or good acting... but they are none.

And when I watch something I like, I use the "right arrow" on my keyboard to skip the nonsense and go to the good part. I would say it takes me less than 10 minutes to watch a show. I do not care about "character development" and dramas and parallel stories and all that crap. The reality is that all that is pure lazy writing. You do not need to spend a ton on CGI, just have a good script.

Based on a true story, I assume.

Of course I take the view that aliens would have no interest in conquering earth anyways.

Maybe they want to collect all of our forum posts for their scientific research into the habits of species throughout the galaxy, and they aren't getting a good Earth-Internet connection from their distant home planet.

Your concept of a great Sci-Fi TV Show is so primitive, in the range of 3 to 12 year olds, who only want to see continuos action without any character story.
Galactica also had drama, same as The Expanse, and both were/are great shows too.
I think there was a better balance of drama and action in those shows. It wasn't the lack of action that bothered me, it was the lack of science, or more specifically, the lack of the moon. There are plenty of great dramas out there, but in this show, whenever we weren't in space, I found myself counting the seconds until we were again. The drama back on Earth just isn't that compelling. The subplot about the adopted daughter discovering herself and her real parents being a standout example. It felt completely unnecessary. Just shoehorned in there for no good reason. This is a TV show about an alternative history where we colonize the solar system. At least stick the drama in space!

this is how hbo works too and disney plus...its about focus more than releasing everything and its done
From business point is the right way
Apple usually different and better. Focusing on Apple, but true others are releasing weekly. Which I only watch once or twice a year After the shows have all been released. Each his own Opinion.

Hope Invasion is all action instead dialogue like the Epix's War Of The World TV Series. Season 2 is turning to be worse then that of Season one. It is basically two street gangs having a fighting in their neighborhoods in France with U.S. close quarter SWAT equipped assault weapons(Colt M4 Commando) mostly and a couple of scope out .308 sniper rifles. The aliens are using the same weapons as the survivalists. Both sides are in normal casual street clothing. Only difference between alien and humans is a quarter size tattoo black ink "target" sign on the hand. The Boston Scientific dogs are still very mechanical, slow and smallish. LOL! It is so bad in every way that you want to know if it has a chance to be better in the next episode! Season 2 continues with the dating, relationships theme as a subplot to the survival theme that is in Season One. Dialogue is 80% of the scenes with a lot of what if's, doubts, leaders question why they are the leaders, what we do nows, search for family members type based dialogue continues from Season One. ;) Action type battles are maybe 5-7% of the time in each episode in Season 2, it is increasing tremendously from that of Season One where only 1 out 4 episodes had any action in it at all.

For All Mankind started strong but then it got, as you say, 90% too long and drawn out with mundane "housewife" plots.
I disagree. This show is a drama set during the space race. Personally I think it’s some of the best written characters I’ve seen in a long time. The drama is all apart of the characters story it’s not there for filler… it’s there with a purpose wether it pays off in season two or extends to season 3. When you finish season two and look at how far all the characters have come from the very first episode it’s rewarding. But it’s ok if you didn’t like it.

Are you saying alien mothership can not be shot down by WW1 airplane? Wait! I was fooled all these years??? 😅

Definitely will tune in when it drops.

Keep in mind that the whole story revolves around people. What happens in their lives affects their decisions either on Earth and in Space, and could affect the story from that point on. I don’t want to write any spoilers, but think about it, some of those decisions impacted the season finale.
The subplot about the adopted daughter will impact what happens in the future, most likely on the next season, when I believe the daughter may have met her goal. Choosing between her real and adopted family may have impacted that.
If the story gets rushed, it will end sooner without leaving its mark.
Just like with beer. A lot of people don’t like the foam, but the foam makes it taste a lot better.

It is an "alternate history" of the Space Race. Most of the actual Space Race took place on Earth.

And that's one of the worst parts about Netflix, IMO.

HBO, Disney, and Apple agre
Are you confusing streaming with binge-watching?
The way Apple and others are presenting their shows, old school TV without commercials. Streaming is user defined watching. Nothing says the shows on others like Netflix and Amazon requires binge watching. Users choice, watch all or watch weekly or monthly. Apple and others, no choice, old school. Maybe that defines what streaming means to me, choices.

These shows are always good for a laugh. Just picture it another way. With the combined forces of the US Navy, Marines, Air Force and Army against the Roman Empire. Heck they flattened the Iraqi army like it was nothing and the tech difference was much closer than an alien invasion would be.

Not that there'd be anyone to fight. They'd flatten any military forces from orbit and receive surrenders from all nations in less than a day.

Of course I take the view that aliens would have no interest in conquering earth anyways. Any automation and artificial intelligence would be way beyond the capabilities of humans. So, slave labor is out as slaves would likely be more expensive to maintain. Resources are out. For such an advanced space fairing civilization. There are far virtually limitless resources in our solar system let alone the galaxy. Our humble planet wouldn't be worth the time.

Really, all we'd have to offer are exotic plants, animals and spices. So, flattening the place or risking us destroying it with nukes wouldn't make much sense. I have a hard time even picturing our planet as a food source. As our proteins would likely be totally incompatible. Plus their tech and available resources all over the universe would make such an expedition extremely inefficient compared to some sort of farming in space.
There has been ample evidence for decades that they are here for our cows. And they like to make complex graffiti in our cornfields.
