I have, and this is right on the mark.

Ted Lasso was a good/decent show, but it wasn’t ‘magical’. It just was average.

People hype Ted Lasso up so much on here that when I watched it to it’s completion I felt scammed. It was a good show, but nothing about it made it spectacular or great.
Everyone's got their own opinion/preferences but you are the first person on the entire Internet or IRL that hasn't said Ted Lasso was great and actually made them feel a little happier or better about humanity just for watching it. True story.

The Netflix way works better for me. I wait until everything is released before signing up for the service, watch everything interesting and then turn it off again. AppleTV is the only thing I’m currently signed up for and that is only because currently it is still free.

Unfortunately that hurts Netflix's economics so I bet they're going to start going the way of Disney+ and HBO with weekly releases as well.

Disney+ is smart (from a business perspective) in that they're doing weekly releases, as well as keeping up releases with new shows. Big Marvel and Star Wars fan, so they're playing it smart with WandaVision, followed by Falcon & Winter Soldier and now Loki all strung out over a few months. I personally don't mind weekly releases as it allows my friends to all catch up for discussion, but it doesn't help with my wallet though...

What’s happened? Is there more than throwing non M1 mac owners under the bus?
No just venting some frustration. Might as well have some fun with it.

I think there was a better balance of drama and action in those shows. It wasn't the lack of action that bothered me, it was the lack of science, or more specifically, the lack of the moon. There are plenty of great dramas out there, but in this show, whenever we weren't in space, I found myself counting the seconds until we were again. The drama back on Earth just isn't that compelling. The subplot about the adopted daughter discovering herself and her real parents being a standout example. It felt completely unnecessary. Just shoehorned in there for no good reason. This is a TV show about an alternative history where we colonize the solar system. At least stick the drama in space!
Cheaper sets is my guess.

Pretty tired storyline. Would have thought they'd be more original than this. Besides, doesn't this just further foster xenophobia? I thought Apple was all "woke".. its a small step from "aliens" to "illegal aliens"

These shows are always good for a laugh. Just picture it another way. With the combined forces of the US Navy, Marines, Air Force and Army against the Roman Empire. Heck they flattened the Iraqi army like it was nothing and the tech difference was much closer than an alien invasion would be
Why would people always think hypothetical aliens invading earth would have very superior technology? Maybe they’ll just barely make it like we currently do. If we ever get to mars we won’t be this super advanced, mind-controlling civilization. The first humans will probably barely make it so an alien counterpart might be in a similar situation.

Those are Netflix international releases.

CBS on Paramount+/All Access also releases shows weekly, and Netflix gets the intn'l rights to those shows. True Netflix originals are all released at once. But again, in my opinion, that's a massive negative for Netflix. Binging takes away the enjoyment of the series, the chance to breath after an episode, take it in, and think about it. Unless your goal is mindless time wasting.
You know, you don’t have to watch them all at once. But for those that want to, why not?

Your way doesn’t give them an option, whereas their way still gives you options.

They don't have enough content that I care about to manage to keep me subscribed though. I'll watch Loki when they finish the 6th episode. I don't think Disney+ has anything else I want to watch right now though. Disney+ does well because lots of families have children. How many times can you rewatch The Mandalorian or The Rise of Skywalker before you get bored. Kids don't get bored rewatching and want to rewatch things over and over.

One of the most annoying things about Apple TV, releasing one episode per week. Apple does not get the concept of streaming.
Sure it does. Apple doesn’t have the library of Netflix and wants you to stay for more than a month. HBO, Disney, Amazon are all doing the same thing for new shows created just for the network. I don’t like it, but I understand it.

It's very likely that any species that can traverse 100s to 1000s of lightyears in a reasonable time are far, far beyond our technology. It is possible that we would get invaded by a species that just entered the age of interstellar travel but what would be the odds that they find us and attack? It is much more likely a species that has had interstellar travel for a very long time would find us.

Having said that, interstellar wars don't make a lot of sense and it's likely that any species technologically advanced enough to reach Earth would have better things to do with their time.

Literally all streaming services other than Netflix release content on a week basis. It keeps subscribers from canceling their membership after binge watching their favorite show in a day.

Because they have technology capable of travelling light years?

actually, maybe a good story would be a bunch of aliens that have travelled for generations inside a giant asteroid, it comes here and whereas their original plan was to drop rocks until we were extinct so they could move in and set up shop without any interference, they had become agoraphobic and believed anything outside the asteroid was not real. set up a parking orbit and established trade relations with North Korea because they are just as insular.

maybe there isn’t enough challenge in that plot though

Pretty sure I've seen this one before.
And no it’s not like in Independence Day that the whole world unites to fight back. And some world leaders will claim the invasion is a fake. And others might say that the aliens are friends. Some people may even protest that it’s their right to get killed by the aliens.

I wonder when the premiere of Foundation is going to be announced. They've been sitting on that for a very long time.

I'm assuming i won't see any aliens until like episode 5 or so... I hate that.

Other than that the show looks really good. I'm looking forward to it.

Remove the first 5 seconds of the trailer and repost it. We know we're watching a trailer.

Haha true.

Thanks to people's ever-shrinking attention span... they have to show a 5-second pre-trailer before the trailer.

It's because people already have their finger over the "Skip Ad" button. It's like a desperate plea to keep watching.

:p

You obviously have never watched a single series on Apple TV+. Like, not literally one series.
I started 5 series, most prominently The Morning Show, all I saw was clean tables and compliancy. Ted Lasso was good fun though. But also as clean as Favreau's speeches.
