Apple today published a ten-minute "Guided Tour" video for its Vision Pro headset, walking new users through its interface and key features.

The video, available on the Vision Pro page of Apple's website and on YouTube, provides a basic overview of how to use the headset and its key features. It highlights aspects like viewing photos and panoramas, Spatial Video playback, placing windows in 3D space, FaceTime calls, immersive environments, bringing a Mac display into the space, and experiences like Mindfulness and "Encounter Dinosaurs." Watch the full Guided Tour video on Apple's website.

Pre-orders of the Vision Pro opened earlier today and the device launches in the U.S. on Friday, February 2.

In a few years, I can see how people will get a MacBook pro and just use vision pro to replace a full sized monitor when working from home. Any size screen you want.
...or do that on Feb 2. Then add in all of the other apps you work with in other monitors. Chrome, Word, Excel, etc. It is already equipped to be an amazing Mac extension.

Ont the Cringe side, "I didn't even have to teach you to zoom out". :)

"Any size screen you want"

That's not how users work. They choose an optimal size, not any size. The optimal size monitors are already on offer and don't require any discomfort or massive cost, and on top of that have the benefits of audio, USB ports, etc.

Only a nerd would or could wear a ski goggle all day that will 100% leave terrible scars and bad hair days on the face of long time users. Most people...just...aren't...this level of stupid and ugly.

Their staged apartments always look so pretty, no wonder they are in favor of pass through AR. I’ll stick to my VR view to hide on a foreign island for a few hours 😅
The environments thing was awesome. I can’t swing $3500 for that right now, but it would make WFH a little cooler for all the people who can’t just pack up and run to the hills on a whim.

I just thought of something - this thing will be released before the SuperBowl! Man, imagine how many people will actually watch the game using this thing?

Will someone think of the hair! 🙄

So...who else works with just mail, music, and safari. No, I need citrix and 20 work specific apps. Let's see how those do....becasue what they showed is worth an in store demo but not $4k.
Citrix was one of the first apps announced. The store is available to find your required apps, and you can assume any iPad/iPhone app will be available (unless it’s Spotify, Netflix, and YouTube, but those are really “work specific apps”).

Guess I'm a stupid and ugly nerd because i can see myself doing just that. Being able to work from anywhere in the house or even while commuting / traveling with any screen size i want is a cool benefit to me. On top of the other entertainment / immersion aspects to it.

Some, I suppose. The Superbowl is a social event as much as a game. I think I've been to or hosted a Superbowl party for at least the last 20 years.

Enjoy your new device, for those that have ordered. It's not for me, but I'm sure it is for some!

I wondering if you can only mirror your Mac screen, or if you can extend the screen and set up additional screens - this would be killer while working on the road.

Such a short sighted comment. You clearly have never travelled for work, having to work on and reference multiple complex Excel, Word and Powerpoint files. Doing in an office with external monitor is fine, you ever try to do this for any length of time in a hotel room on a laptop? Or on a really long flight? Don't assume your use case is the only use case.

"Work anywhere in the house".

What does that mean? People don't work "anywhere in the house". They have an area they feel comfortable working, like an office, and don't want to be forced to work in the bath or sitting on the toilet or at the dinner table. We already have monitors and laptops to do that comfortably with little cost and zero discomfort.

If you want to end up scar faced with deranged hair and people wondering what's wrong with you, go ahead. It's your money. Don't forget to buy lots of battery packs too. It's an expensive entertainment device with less battery life than a worn out Newton.

Yeah some social events are just that social. Vision Pro isn’t that social but at least it allows for some social interaction beyond the internet.
