Yes, this is a fantastic feature. Apps that won't have vision Pro dedicated apps at launch can be used within a single Mac monitor which is scalable to any size. So if you want to have Resolve open, for instance, in your Mac window and have Lightroom open as an app in a second monitor, and shutterstock open in a a third app browser window, that's entirely possible by mixing the Mac window with app windows. This is gonna be terrific for users with a variety of different workflows. Made even more amazing by its portability.
What's going to be amazing (when it works) is dragging photos or files between these windows and having it "just work". Copying and pasting between phone and computer is still one of the best demonstrations of technology working correctly together. No messing around just copy and paste.

A good start. But I'd love to see a version of the ad with headless MacStudio or Macmini running creative apps and being able to use an input device suitable for their best performance. This should be available now.

I don't think you can use the Mac laptop screen while projecting it in VP, at least not right away. Watch the video, the laptop screen blacks out. I would be also skeptical that looking at a huge projected Mac screen then squinting through the AVP to see the real laptop screen would be a good experience. I hope though, AVP can give you multiple virtual Mac screens in extended desktop mode. but while in a hotel room or on a plane, I will be happy with one huge virtual screen for now!

Just to be clear...

I work from home.

I have a designated area to work with. I use a keyboard and tablet like many professionals. I need actual apps not floating widget style apps. I need actual keyboard not air pinching. I need actual drawing tablets. I need actual RAID storage.

You cannot do this "anywhere in your house". A keyboard and tablet requires an actual desk.

I need comfort when I work. I cannot have my face mashed and creased. I need the freedom to move unhindered without cables coming out of my head like some kind of Keanu sci fi slave.

If you're fine with all this discomfort and want to play with your air pinching keyboard from the comfort of a closet or toilet, then that's you. But if you pitch science fiction on a forum then you get called out.

Go ahead and buy 100 of these stupid ski goggles. As an Apple shareholder I'll take your money. I'll take your money and spend it on an actual computer and monitor.

How self involved are you? I, I, I, I. Great, it doesn't work for YOU. Congrats!!! You clearly have never had to work on a plane or in hotel rooms with NO EXTERNAL MONITORS.

The only thing appearing stupid here is YOU because you literally can't imagine anyone doing anything differently than you in your your tiny little world.

The acting of the "first-time user" is pretty bad -- don't know why they couldn't just show us how to use it.
I got goosebumps.

Chances are very good they wanted to capture authentic reactions and it's a mix of: 1. complete surprise, 2. prompts to prepare the user, and 3. do-overs.

Correct, you will use the mac content within the VP environment alongside the VP app content.

"Work anywhere in the house".

What does that mean? People don't work "anywhere in the house". They have an area they feel comfortable working, like an office, and don't want to be forced to work in the bath or sitting on the toilet or at the dinner table.
For now because technology limits where the work can be done - like you may need a table to support a screen. No reason why this cannot change and literally be anywhere.

it looks like it the video sections, its actually called "Sidecar", so exactly how I am using my iPad as a second display now with my Mac on the road (which freezes ALOT when not connected to the Mac with a USB cable). Are you saying you think you can have this screen in the AVP AND use AVP apps along side? If so, a bit janky but doable

We have known that you can since June. "While you can only push one display from your Mac, you can mix-and-match it with visionOS apps. So the practical way to achieve the equivalent of multiple Mac monitors will be to use your virtual Mac display for your power apps – Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and so on – while creating separate visionOS panes for things like Safari, Mail, Notes, Maps, and so on. In that way, you’ll get something that is the next best thing to multiple Mac displays, and practically indistinguishable in use."

cool, thanks for the clarification...but then how would the input work? using the laptop keyboard and track pad for Mac window, but what if you want to type on an AVP app like Mail?

Watched the video and wasn’t impressed. Looks like it will be poor for working as scaling will be limited along with needing a keyboard/mouse. To me it’s clear this is just a media consumption device no matter what you want it to be.

The real issue is, putting this thing on is a commitment. You don’t just pick this up to watch a quick video or check email, you grab the phone that’s most likely next to you ALL the time. This thing will sit on the charger until you mess with it for 30min then your head hurts and back it goes. Cool tech but not good enough for the price.

You need a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse

How about those of use that need to look at the keyboard to type? I can type 80 words per minute but since i learned to type from the High School Football Coach I don't use any of the proper techniques. So if I were to use the VP as an extension of my Mac I would surmise that I would constantly need to look down at my keyboard, then back up into the VP, then back down to my Mac, etc. At that point I would think it would be more useful to use, well, my Mac.

Came here to echo the bad acting of Mr. First Time User.

He's equal parts stupid and faux-enthusiastic (or rather the writing for the "character" was) and its just completely off-putting. For a company that puts so much in controlling its image I'm surprised this passed muster.

Can someone please tell me where this product falls? Is it an iPad replacement a Mac replacement, is the primary use to see videos and pictures in a more immersive environment. I see this as a novelty item at this point. I mean who’s going to wear a headset for 8 hours a day for work related duties? The VR novelty gets stale quickly. If this would have been a $750 or $1000 items for what it does, a for sure buy for me. For $3500 I’d rather purchase a MacBook and iPad Pro.

"Any size screen you want"

That's not how users work. They choose an optimal size, not any size. The optimal size monitors are already on offer and don't require any discomfort or massive cost, and on top of that have the benefits of audio, USB ports, etc.

Only a nerd would or could wear a ski goggle all day that will 100% leave terrible scars and bad hair days on the face of long time users. Most people...just...aren't...this level of stupid and ugly.
In a few years, not now. Presumably this tech will get better and better.

So ... Apple must be working on a special Vision-version of MLB Friday Night broadcasts, right? Watch a game as if you're behind home plate or by the dugout like a bat boy? Seems like a no brainer. Now how does Apple get the NBA, NFL and NHL to do the same?

100% agree.

Makes me wonder what some people do for actual work?
Safari, Mail and… they're good to go. Apparently.

You will be able to use bluetooth devices for all windows Mac and VP. We don't know yet what VP input will do on the Mac window.

Yes!
That is what I am waiting for as well.

Show me this AVP is a tool that will make my working experience better and I'll be all over it when it gets released in the UK.

But don't try to sell me a USD4,000 iPad with a lot of hand waving and finger pinching woooooo.

How self involved are you? I, I, I, I. Great, it doesn't work for YOU. Congrats!!! You clearly have never had to work on a plane or in hotel rooms with NO EXTERNAL MONITORS.

Now now, breathe!

No need to get insulting.

Just be happy with your new AVP.

Enjoy!

I wonder how long until they nerf it because some people feel nauseous like they did with AirPods Pro 1.

Looks really good, naturally no point on comparing to PSVR2 or other full VR dive devices which are not AR like this.

Hope Sony will finally give 3d movies into 2gen of PSVR after this move from Apple :)

Awaits for not paid reviews and mora effect discovery if present and how Apple made it handling properly gestures

Hilarious. If that was his 1st time he would have ripped the goggles off his head and ran out of the room screaming when the rogosaurus appeared.
