Guess I'm a stupid and ugly nerd because i can see myself doing just that. Being able to work from anywhere in the house or even while commuting / traveling with any screen size i want is a cool benefit to me. On top of the other entertainment / immersion aspects to it.
"Work anywhere in the house".

What does that mean? People don't work "anywhere in the house". They have an area they feel comfortable working, like an office, and don't want to be forced to work in the bath or sitting on the toilet or at the dinner table. We already have monitors and laptops to do that comfortably with little cost and zero discomfort.

If you want to end up scar faced with deranged hair and people wondering what's wrong with you, go ahead. It's your money. Don't forget to buy lots of battery packs too. It's an expensive entertainment device with less battery life than a worn out Newton.
I think you're going to be surprised when people do things your imagination doesn't allow for.

It's a great demo there's no doubting that. The issue is you need a heavy device strapped to your face

"Any size screen you want"

That's not how users work. They choose an optimal size, not any size. The optimal size monitors are already on offer and don't require any discomfort or massive cost, and on top of that have the benefits of audio, USB ports, etc.

Only a nerd would or could wear a ski goggle all day that will 100% leave terrible scars and bad hair days on the face of long time users. Most people...just...aren't...this level of stupid and ugly.
Not even sure if this product will be a success or not, however, I just have to say that this is all totally wrong.
Apple tried it with the iPhone and iPad, 3.5 inches for the iPhone and 9.7 for the iPad.

Then the iPhone 6 and6 plus, the biggest at the time and first with any screen size options, became the best selling smart phones in history.

These days people are trying to fit tablet sized screens in foldable phones.

There is clearly a demand from customers that they want the biggest screen they can possibly get when they’re on the move.
Even if that means having a big camera cut out at the top, even if that means having a big crease down the middle, people will take these compromises to have the biggest screen possible.
There’s a reason the iPhone mini was discontinued and we’re rumored to be getting another bigger iPad Air.

Will people take the 1.5 pound brick on their head to have a massive 4K display that can fit into their bag? Time will tell, but when it comes to displays there’s one thing that’s clear, people want bigger, bigger and more big.

Forced to work in the bath or on the toilet? Are you good?

No one is forcing you to do that. You sound a bit… unstable. Anyway sorry you are missing out on the Vision Pro!

So just to be clear, you, a person i've never met are telling me, a person you have never met how i like to work from home? 😂 the internet never dissapoints.

Yup, i like to move around the house here and there when i wfh. I do that in the office too. Sometimes i work from my desk. Other times i'll go to an open area or the office patio area. What's hard to understand about different people work in different ways? The beauty is, if i move from my desk to the couch at home, i can bring the large virtual monitor with me and have my bluetooth keyboard on my lap. If i'm on a plane traveling for work and i need to work on some documents, i can do so in a large virtual screen instead of a cramped laptop screen.

"If you want to end up scar faced with deranged hair and people wondering what's wrong with you, go ahead."

Life is too short to worry this much about what others are thinking of me. Plus I'm in NYC, the list of things people do that are far more deranged on every street corner is vast before you get to someone wearing an Apple Vision Pro.

Some of the immersive, entertainment experiences look cool but the only way I could justify the current price is if this changes how I work. (Unfortunately lol.)

Being able to run MacOS on an iPad and project that on this device would go a long way towards overcoming the few reservations I have about AVP’s practical use. I use a Mac mini at home and an iPad when I travel for work and have for several years now. There’s a handful of things I exclusively prefer to do on the Mac, so much that when I need to replace the iPad, if there isn’t a major change like this, I’ll go back to a MacBook of some kind.

So true. Oh so true.

Ok Sympathy MVP

The digital persona thing is weird. Even in this video and apple commercials, it doesn't look that great. I know it's still in beta, I just hope the expressions will get warmer and natural with time
It’s seems to be unable to detect or recreate our neck movement. Which is crucial to make animation more life like. There is also a lack of tongue movements.

They should make this mandatory to watch before you buy the device. And turn this into a ad so more people can see it. Answers so much

I wondering if you can only mirror your Mac screen, or if you can extend the screen and set up additional screens - this would be killer while working on the road.
Yes, this is a fantastic feature. Apps that won't have vision Pro dedicated apps at launch can be used within a single Mac monitor which is scalable to any size. So if you want to have Resolve open, for instance, in your Mac window and have Lightroom open as an app in a second monitor, and shutterstock open in a a third app browser window, that's entirely possible by mixing the Mac window with app windows. This is gonna be terrific for users with a variety of different workflows. Made even more amazing by its portability.

“You can see my eyes….??”

Dude was about to cry with this line lol. Weird forced presentation but really cool seeing the little actions and techniques being shown off for the first time. Should’ve gotten this video at the launch announcement.

Ordering a couple of these devices was the high point of my day, but this post is definitely a second high point. The thought of Tim Cook coming over and forcing you to work in your bath...now that's magical.

So just to be clear, you, a person i've never met are telling me, a person you have never met how i like to work from home? 😂 the internet never dissapoints.

Just to be clear...

I work from home.

I have a designated area to work with. I use a keyboard and tablet like many professionals. I need actual apps not floating widget style apps. I need actual keyboard not air pinching. I need actual drawing tablets. I need actual RAID storage.

You cannot do this "anywhere in your house". A keyboard and tablet requires an actual desk.

I need comfort when I work. I cannot have my face mashed and creased. I need the freedom to move unhindered without cables coming out of my head like some kind of Keanu sci fi slave.

If you're fine with all this discomfort and want to play with your air pinching keyboard from the comfort of a closet or toilet, then that's you. But if you pitch science fiction on a forum then you get called out.

Go ahead and buy 100 of these stupid ski goggles. As an Apple shareholder I'll take your money. I'll take your money and spend it on an actual computer and monitor.

I just thought of something - this thing will be released before the SuperBowl! Man, imagine how many people will actually watch the game using this thing?
Apple has not shown any additional sports or live venues. For some this is a huge draw and for one of the first reviewers he said he would buy it just to watch basketball games at courtside. But apple has been quiet on those experiences.

Just to be clear... listening!

I work from home. Great!

I have a designated area to work with. I use a keyboard and tablet like many professionals. I need actual apps not floating widget style apps. I need actual keyboard not air pinching. I need actual drawing tablets. I need actual RAID storage. Awesome!

You cannot do this "anywhere in your house". A keyboard and tablet requires an actual desk. Yup, doesn't sound like you can for your use case.

I need comfort when I work. I cannot have my face mashed and creased. I need the freedom to move unhindered without cables coming out of my head like some kind of Keanu sci fi slave. I would never want to hinder your freedom! Would never clip your wings!!!

If you're fine with all this discomfort and want to play with your air pinching keyboard from the comfort of a closet or toilet, then that's you. But if you pitch science fiction on a forum then you get called out. I am fine with it for my use case. Which was my whole point. Never said everyone needs to move to the couch and work. A large amount of folks can't work from a device like this and that is obvious.

Go ahead and buy 100 of these stupid ski goggles. As an Apple shareholder I'll take your money. I'll take your money and spend it on an actual computer and monitor. Oh I didn't realize I was speaking with an apple shareholder. My apologies, please forgive me for not addressing you with the respect royalty such as yourself deserves! 😂 Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day spending time in a forum specifically for a product you have no interest in.
