Ugh. Creepy gut feeling, I don’t know. But what I DO know is that I don’t want to live like that, ever more alienated, distant and removed from reality.
I enjoyed the presentation, but also felt a tinge of Matrix anxiety during that attractive and calming video.

It will be interesting to read observations from users as they more regularly use AR for their TV screens and surroundings to relax.

The digital persona thing is weird. Even in this video and apple commercials, it doesn't look that great. I know it's still in beta, I just hope the expressions will get warmer and natural with time
The woman’s eyes looked so unnatural 🫣

Whoa... pretty amazing presentation. I can see all sorts of uses and applications.

It's a shame most here are criticizing the people giving it, rather than the tech itself. But that was expected.

"Any size screen you want"

That's not how users work. They choose an optimal size, not any size. The optimal size monitors are already on offer and don't require any discomfort or massive cost, and on top of that have the benefits of audio, USB ports, etc.

Only a nerd would or could wear a ski goggle all day that will 100% leave terrible scars and bad hair days on the face of long time users. Most people...just...aren't...this level of stupid and ugly.
“Terrible scars???!”— Nepobaby may need to crawl back to momma or papa and do some remedial learning about how headwear works!

Last I heard, wearing a padded device on your head doesn’t produce scarring. I mean, unless you’re crashing through a windshield or falling off of a building…and even then, I imagine the rest of your head would be in worse shape that that under the device.

As to ’any size screen’, that is obviously a reference to the user’s ability to set a visual spatial dimension to their liking — anytime, anywhere. And, didn’t you listen to this, the VPro does have audio intrinsically. It’s like some of you just want to hate anything new and anything daring.

This is the first iteration of what will be a platform of the future. It will probably take at least 10-15 years to truly grow to be mass market vector, because really how much can the price be reduced considering the number of lenses, cameras, sensors, required for fluid functionality, and likely higher RAM, as well, etc, but this type of computing and virtual space IS where almost all computing will eventually move, for anyone who can afford a phone or a laptop.

Yes, this first model will be underpowered when compared to the third or fourth or fifth generation product, but that is the entire history of technological production, from massive computers which needed entire rooms to home computers to laptops to cell phones and tablets and next to virtual screens on wearable tech.

It’s seems to be unable to detect or recreate our neck movement. Which is crucial to make animation more life like. There is also a lack of tongue movements.

The digital persona also looks kind of like what I imagine a golem would look like…similar to a human, but actually made of clay… The caller’s ’persona’ was just a bit creepy-looking, as in not-quite-human and possibly a pod-person replacement.
I agree, though, it will improve.

the more i watch i can’t justify what else i can do with the device aside from having my own cinema… but it’s a good start for apple introducing new product in their line up.

Actually Meta is kind of achieved this. But it still requires a lot of processing power or something. We know it’s not real but it’s the movements that make it’s life like not the resolution details.

I think Apple could already achieved the same just limited by the lack of the sensors.

"You have been using this before, right?" he says to the Vision Pro product manager. Wow.

I really almost never would believe its his first time.

Stepford Wives level of tension.

Isn't this great?

This is great!

You're doing great!

It's all great!

Even if it is technically true that that was his first time actually putting it on and activating it, it was clear that the entire thing was highly scripted and clearly edited. They made many, many subtle points of emphasis. Little things like him not banging his shin on the coffee table, a shot of his face not being all messed up immediately after removing the headset, etc.

We’ve seen all these demos before, this was just a more public facing demo of what was at WWDC designed to subtly address points of criticism.

Those avatars are really amazing-looking. I wonder how far away Meta is from releasing that level of realistic avatar animation.
