i will receive my upgrade apparently only on june 11th in luxemburg.
and the date did not change lately.

probably because i will receive the "french" version, maybe it is not printed yet. if you try to order the upgrade in germany the shipping date is still JULY...

For the happy people who received it already, HOW IS IT??? :D

Everything looks good so far, but I haven't been doing much else than opening the applications yet.

One thing though: Color looks god-awful! It's even worse than Shake when it comes to being a non-mac application, but hopefully they'll get rid of that after a while..

Instead of wanting Apple to dumb it down why don't you spend some time trying to learn how to use it first? It's a professional grading app that cost $25k before Apple bundled it in FCS2 so of course you aren't going to be able to just "sit down and go." It's like climbing into the cockpit of a 747 and going, "Gee I sure wish they'd get rid of a bunch of these gauges and switches so flying a big, commercial passenger plane wouldn't be so confusing."

I'm not complaining about the functionality of the application at all, just the fonts and windows.

Shut up will you.. (And I'm usually NOT rude)

I'm not complaining about the functionality of the application at all, just the fonts and windows. There, continue jumping to conclusions and be and ass if you wish..

Color is not a Apple/Mac app. It looks ugly. But they had it for just 4 month. So I guess they couldn't really do anything about it. Wait for Color 2 or 3! I am really glad that Apple added it to the bundle - not because I need it now.

I am really looking forward to the release of the successor of Shake. My guess is that they will add it to the bundle as well. Hopefully 2008.

Same, Shake is great, but will benefit from a Apple-makeover.
And I'm thrilled that Color is in there too, I wasn't complaining about the application at all, it was just pretty underwhelming being greeted by that UI when I did the obligatory first-start-up of all the applications. I was just giving an opinion on the first thing I noticed, because the rest of the applictions looks pretty much the same, apart from Soundtrack, but I still haven't been able to do much. At least I got through the installation-process, which was hefty enough, 52 gb or so, since I had some Garageband-things installed from earlier..

Being a regular I'm sure you know that personal attacks are frowned upon here at MR.

I apologize for misunderstanding your very ambiguous remark about Color. If you just think the fonts and such are ugly just say you think the fonts and such are ugly. When you just make general comments that leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

W/the bundling of Color in FCS2 I know there are going to be a lot of "why is this app so hard" type of posts across the internet and, again, I apologize for jumping the gun in thinking that your post was one of them.

I'm sorry too, it just annoyed me a little that you portrayed me as a "gee, I don't know what this application does but it seems to complicated.."-kind of guy, which is far from the truth as I love learning these things. :)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning it, as I look forward to Apple at least getting their dialog-boxes etc. in there

Not to derail this thread from the video specialists, but I am most interested in what is happening with Soundtrack pro. I work in radio and have long been searching for a Mac audio application that can finally release me from my dependancy on Windows and Audition. While there are tons of great applications for audio on the Mac, they either cater to professional musicians or very consumer driven audio needs. To date, Soundtrack has been the best answer for me, but it is buggy and very unpolished.

When I heard about the latest release of FCPS 2, I immediately checked out Soundtrack's latest revision, and I am VERY intrigued by the new multi-track/single track integrated workspace. If this new workspace approach works like I think it might, and assuming the stability and batch processor have improved along with it, I might finally have my Audition killer.

If those of you who have purchased and installed the suite would post impressions on the latest version of Soundtrack along with any screen caps, I would greatly appreciate it. It is a lot of cash to lay out for an audio app, so the more I know the better. If only :apple: would allow for the individual purchase of Soundtrack :(

I own FinalTouch HD (the program that became 'Color'... actually FinalTouch 2K became 'Color'...which was 25 thousand!)... The application is very powerful - the learning curve was lil' steep considering they didn't really have a manual at the time... but after using it for over a year I've become very skilled with its feature set... although I personally never really liked the interface, and I agree that it is VERY un-apple... but I have high respect for Apple buying this company, writing a very detailed manual, worked out MANY MANY bugs, and packed it in Final Cut Studio 2 within 4 months! I too see Apple having an interface redesign in the near future (I would think)... but honestly, once you get looking at something enough you get used to it (even if you don't think it looks good)... Why do you think people stay married for so many years! :D

I guess there is no chance that they would have incorporated an .omf exporter in Soundtrack Pro, right???
would be nice in order to premix a protools session

I bet that Apple is working on a new interface and will have that for Color 2.

Taken from apple's website re: Soundtrack Pro 2:

"It’s a Big World Out There-
AAF and OMF are common formats used to transfer audio projects between many different audio and video editing systems. Work with other popular third-party NLEs and DAWs using AAF and OMF transfers."

Thanks, I read this and was quiet happy.
But I got suspicious when I read this from the FCS2 product overview PDF file (page 45):

OMF and AAF import/export
Easily move complete multitrack projects between Soundtrack Pro 2 and other
industry-standard audio applications. Import and export AAF files for round-trip
convenience. If you need to work on older projects, you can import OMF files.

This made me think that you could only import OMF files, but not export.
Then again Pro Tools can import AAF files as well, now with embedded audio, I was just getting used to OMF as it was/is the industry standard for such a long time.

BTW, Does FCP6 export Volume information now in the OMF export? If you wanted to do so in FCP5 you had to get Automatic Duck, a 500$ translater/plugin.

Look at attachement, seems you can export at least.

EDIT: I don't see and export-option for OMF from STP2, only fra FCP.
