I've always done my pre-orders through AT&T - not Apple. So, I imagine it will be available through Verizon as well.
I love how locked down everything is this year. We have some speculations, but for the most part, nobody knows what iPhone 5 will look like (of if it is even iPhone 5)... I bet Steve put the fear of god into everyone involved to prevent what happened last year...
right, but do they do preorders via verizon stores or just on apple's site? just curious. my phone is my only non-apple device, and keepign things synced is a pain.
Man I hope the T-Mobile version is true.
Same here. but i remember last year was a real headache ordering through AT&T's website
Not for me... took a couple of minutes, and I was all set.
In my opinion, with an October ship date, it feels like the extra time they took to put it out will make it a possible 4g iPhone. Why else would they take 5 extra months beyond their typical life cycle?

Well, looks like another night of staying up until 4 AM for when the AT&T site goes live for pre-orders.
Like others who did this, I got my pre-ordered iPhone 4 the day before it was officially released. I got to drive past AT&T stores with people lined up outside them and smiled.
Mine too. I guess we were lucky since I remember reading here that lots of people did have problems.
I took mine to the local Apple Store and walked around with it, also passing the poor souls camping out in line over 12 hours before it went on sale.![]()
The iPad 2 needed a new os version which pushed back ios5 which pushed back the iPhone 5.

The team who makes the OS aren't the same ones who make the hardware. One has little to do with the other, since they previewed iOS 5 in June already.
Not 100% sure, but I think the pre-orders were only available on non-contract devices last time around.cannot wait to toss my crapberry. how do preorders work price wise as far as the 2-year contract price?

I don't know how real this photo is, but 9to5mac posted it with their post on this topic.

According to them, its iPhone 5 production, but other than that, there are no details. You can clearly see the smaller bezel and larger home button, but for all we know it could be the assembly line of one of the fakes, or a very elaborate photoshop.
