Actually, it's NOT because there's a market for it but because it makes the 128GB more appealing.

I'm pretty sure there is a market for it as well. When was the last time Apple took a chargeback on unsold inventory.

I've got a capacity of 26.4 gig on a 32 gig iPad Pro with 18gig available. I think that is just greed in the extreme. We should be insulted. What is 'Pro' about such a tiny capacity?

LOL! Funny thing is go to Amazon and look at the cost for a 32gb flash drive. $10.00! Then look at the cost for a 64gb drive $20.00. And we know Apple isn't paying what consumers pay for flash memory. Apple literally could have spent a couple dollars more per iPad to increase the capacity to 64gb, but the number crunchers knew that Apple fanboys would buy Snowcones at the North Pole if it were sold by Apple so they gave you a big middle finger and a 32gb $799 device haha.

1.It's delusional to think that $10 flash drives use the same kind of flash as smartphones, iPads, Surface tablets etc.

2. The 128GB flash version is $50 more then the Surface Pro 4 at $899 with worse CPU.

The apps aren't optimized for the touch interface... Mouse/Stylus input only apps on a touch screen display.
However more and more developers will start developing for windows 10.
75+ million (!) people have already installed and using windows 10. developers can't ignore it.

you could also say the same about the iapd pro, developers havent optimized their apps for the amount of power and screen size. In terms of power as well, developers haven't taken advantage for a number of years on IOS devices.

Photoshop could probably be ported over, however what we actually get is a compltely watered down version. I hope this trend doesn't continue, otherwise the Ipad will always been more of a consumption device than creative compared to the full desktop experience.

The crime is that Apple didn't introduce the standard S/M/L format, because they know that most users would take the 64 Gb over the 128 Gb.

But it's the same market positioning that led them to offer a 16Gb iPhone and no 32 Gb, not to mention the the gimped iMac and the Mac mini.

Offer something cheap then upsell the customer once they're in the door. I'm not saying that MatthewStorm is an idiot, it's just we should all know by now that Apple stiffs customers on the base model. I'm sorry he had to find out the hard way.

Sure just like they did for Windows 8. It's amazing that the only people that say this are on forums like this.

Apps on a PC make very little sense, exhibit A. The Windows Store now.

Here is the link to actual cost of what Apple pays for NAND memory according to IHS. This was back when the iPad Air 2 first came out and costs have come down since then. So it is reasonable to say that Apple would only have spent $10 more to go from 32gb to 64gb for memory for the iPad Pro. Ultimately, Apple is only concerned about their bottom line and the number crunchers say that people will buy iPad Pro 32gb units for $799, apple pencils for $100 and apple keyboards for $169. If you are surprised that Apple wouldn't give customers a good deal by offering 64gb iPad Pros and would rather save $10 then theres your answer. I think its great that Apple fanboys will buy anything Apple sells lol. Its entertaining.

You do realise apps simply mean applications? There isn't any difference and windwos have a millions of "apps" already.

It's about optimising them. and comparing windows 8 to windows 10 is ridiculous. It's not far fetched to say windows 10 has pretty much gained universal appraisal.

I don't know why people keep saying Apple is only concerned about their bottom line. It's a for profit corporation. Obviously they are going to make decisions to maximize their profitability. If consumers get angry they will not buy the products. The market will force Apple to increase the value propositions of their products. Business 101, if you are a market leader you maximize profits. If you are a market trailer you have to increase the value proposition of your products to increase market share so that you can be the market leader and then maximize profits. It's not an insult to Apple to say that they only care about profits. If consumers feel insulted by the choices that Apple puts in front of them they will vote with their wallets.

I know what you mean. I laugh at people who reflect bizarre behaviors online, myself. I'm laughing right now, in fact. Do you actually go to Apple Stores and watch people buy stuff?

You misunderstand. I actually like Apple products, but it doesn't mean that I have to love everything they make and vehemently defend Apple about every decision they make. Sometimes they offer a good deal and other times, they offer really bad deals. I come on these forums to discuss both positives and negatives of products they release and how I feel about it and some people get so offended they cannot comprehend how there are negative aspects to Apple products.

Could Apple have spent $10 more to offer a base model iPad Pro 64gb model rather than a 32gb model, thus offering a better deal to customers. Most likely yes according to IHS. Do I feel like Apple is trying maximize their bottom line at the cost of providing value to their customers with the iPad Pro. Yes. At the same time, I think it is funny that people will get on these forums vehemently defending Apple.

If Apple always placed value over maximizing profit, then the iPhone 5C wouldn't have existed. We all see how much of a flop that was due to it no longer being continued in 6 and 6s iterations.

I was looking forward to the iPad Pro as a computer alternative, but the value just isn't there for me. If enough people feel the same way, then the iPad pro may go the way of the iPhone 5C.

1) you picked that amount of space 32gb. You should know by now that these already installed apps are part of iOS. You should have purchased 128.

2) That's how Apple provide....otherwise...return it.

I see where your coming from. However, the 5C wasn't released an altruistic gesture from Apple. It was a product released under pressure from stock analysts who thought Apple was missing the mid tier of the market (i.e. more profit). They tested that hypothesis and it wasn't the most successful even though from what I remember the 5C wasn't exactly a failure of a product. Apple values innovation and maximizing profit from that innovation. Apple doesn't need to offer 'good deals' because they don't need to. Consumers will do their cost benefit analysis and the sales figures will tell Apple what they need to do. I remember when Apple used to offer coupons to their online store.

You might not know what altruistic means.

You also admit that Apple did what stockholders wanted, thus trying to maximize bottom line as opposed to maximizing value. You see, you cannot both give the customer maximum value and provide maximum revenue because those things do not agree with each other. The more money Apple spends on making a better value product, the less money Apple makes in profits.

Thus we can see from the 5C release, Apple tried to maximize profit too much and it didn't fare well, which can be seen with no further "C" iPhones in the iPhone 6 and 6s.

As a customer that is aware of the cost of technology, it is insulting to see a company such as Apple, whom I am used to usually providing a good balance between value and profit leaning more towards maximizing profit while decreasing value. Knowing for a fact that Apple could have spent $10-$15 more to have a 64gb base model Pro when they sell the device for $799 is insulting. Add to that they charge $99 for a pencil and $169 for a keyboard while Microsoft sells n-trig quality pens for $59 and best in class keyboards for $129 and I feel even more dissuaded on this "Pro" device.

I know what you are trying to say but value is subjective. Maximizing profit is not. Innovation & marketing tries to coerce the subjective value judgement of the consumer. So, I don't agree that these are contradictory. Of course every consumer has their own decision matrix and you have an intrinsic right to feel insulted. But the only reason you would feel insulted would be if it is something you want which isn't available at the price point you want and thus doesn't meet your idea of value. I just don't see the reason to be emotional about it. Microsoft provides an awesome competing product which took them 3 to 4 years to gain traction on. Apple is only now entering this space. Why be insulted when you have options?

Look at the capacity on this iPad Pro on display at the Apple Store...

It lists the capacity as 65.1 GB with 48.6 GB available.

Does Apple have special configurations for store display?

It wouldn't seem to be appropriate for a 128 GB to show so little capacity. My 128 GB lists it's capacity as 114 GB with about 94 GB still available.

Greed in the extreme? Not on the iPad. It would be how much they charge those silicone cases, covers and watch bands. Ridiculous.
