Excellent.

Now maybe they can spend even MORE time not fixing their buggy software before wide release.

Seriously, quit while you're ahead with the knockoff carpool karaoke no one already watches.

Luckily the guys who are coding are unlikely to be the ones producing the shows.

Finally starting to look like Apple's video offerings might not be half bad. Maybe someday we can can exorcise the demons of Planet of the Apps and Carpool Karaoke, a fevered dream before they went to rehab and got straightened out.

Do you understand at all how this works? They bought the rights to a show. Not one of the coders responsible for fixing bugs in iOS have a single thing to do with this show being made.

It means that upper management has split their focus between their core business and this TV stuff.

And yes, that can affect resources such as coders. Seen this happen with other companies that try to expand their interests.

Great show, I re-watch this show about once a year. Every time I do, I am sad when it is over.

We've been talking about doing this for some time, I think you motivated me to do it :D

The show has one of my Top n all time greatest moments in sci-fi: the atmospheric jump in Exodus.

Now that I'm retired I've tried to watch more TV and movies but sadly, I keep laughing at the acting.

Not sure what you're watching, but there's some spectacularly good TV shows being produced, that also have outstanding acting (in addition to writing, directing, etc.)

Eddie Cue: "You, dude writing code. Stop that and come over here. You are now a key grip. You, gal doing QA, you are now a camera operator."

It could happen...

Hollywood scandal!
Mainstream Media: Eddie Cue accused of Sexual misconduct
Millennial: I was called a "gal." How dare they assume my gender.
California: Eddie Cue found guilty of violating the Gender Recognition Act. Charged with hate crime.

Could be true. Could be false.

Right now it's definitely anecdotal so can be safely ignored.

Or perhaps the management should be spending their time on making sure the coders fix the buggy code rather than being distracted by TV shows

Seems like even the management of something like this vs. software/hardware would be different as well.

So far Apple's target market for shows is 15-18 year old teenage girls and 45-55 year old single men.

Also know as Roy Moore date night. :D

It’s nice to have so much money that you can just throw money at anything and see what sticks.

Not to acquit Apple here, but that is basically Google's modus operandi.

Agreed. It's easily one of my favorite shows ever.

If you're into gaming, the new BSG Deadlock game is amazing. Covers the initial Cylon war, and the game captures the atmosphere and music from the series perfectly.

Battlestar Galactica (the reboot) is easily one of my favourite shows ever, so Ronald D. Moore making another space drama excites me. What concerns me is that it is being made for Apple and they commented at one point that they wanted to make family friendly content which can be showcased at the Apple Store, which means this will be nothing like Battlestar Galactica...
[doublepost=1513381940][/doublepost]
Battlestar Galactica? Is that the same TV show from the early 1980's? It was hysterically funny for adults but my serious 7 year old loved it. Haven't watched much TV since because of family & work getting in the way. Now that I'm retired I've tried to watch more TV and movies but sadly, I keep laughing at the acting.
Apple creating fiction? They should merge their entertainment division with their product marketing division.;)
There was a reboot of Battlestar Galactica that ran from 2004-2009 which was much darker and grittier than the original. That is the series they are referencing above.

The only problem is, BSG as aired wouldn't really fall into that whole category that was mentioned a while back about how the shows Apple is producing need to be family-friendly enough to display in the Apple Store. The BSG reboot while excellent, was at most times not something I'd call family-friendly.

Might be cool but given the directive for family-friendly I can imagine Apple will have all kinds of other items they insist on, and the creative guys while chafe at the restrictions and we'll end up with shows with high turnover in the production end.
Yes, my concern as well... an overly sanitized version of BSG wouldn't be the same.

Oops... sorry, Apple. Turns out that wasn't actually Ronald D. Moore, but a Cylon so the deal's off. Really, you should have known. Everyone pretty much turns out to be one.

I loved the show too, but the last episode and his attachment to religion destroyed the series for me. I hope he doesn't go a recovering catholic again and say angels are behind everything.

Great, another show for him to ruin the final season of with pseudo-religious crap.

Man that is awesome and Epic!

I'm VERY excited for this upcoming drama.

huge fan of BSG - both generations.

I don’t care if they signed Spielberg, to me it’s throwing money at projects to see what works. What else is it?
You can say the same about Netflix or Amazon. They both have some great shows, some mediocre shows, and a few duds. The same with the cable networks when they started up. But I'd say they are getting better at finding what works and Apple will have to go through the same learning process. I think trying a lot of different things is the right approach instead of limiting yourself (and your nearly unlimited resources) to one or two precious shows. The competition is vicious and you have to dive in 100% to this market, I don't think dabbling, putting your toe in the water cautiously, will work.

This is exciting! Finally some content that sounds like it might be interesting!!!!

Yeah same show ... BUT completely remade and a LOT BETTER - even by today's standards.
You'll not get the same production and design garbage as the new Star Wars movies vs the old stuff. Kinda the opposite from the original BSG where the remake is a LOT better!!

PS: Starbuck is female great dynamic ... takes a bit to grow on you. Muffet isn't a robot dog and only gets 4mins of air-time thank god! Edward James Olmos goes the lead that Lorne Green did (mutual of ohamaha) in the original, even better.

yeah the original was a PURE joke including the TV pilots in the early 80's (82-84) with flying motorocycles to Earth stolen concept from Macross/Robotech anime.

BSG Universe remake order:

BSG Pilot (2 shows)
BSG Mini Series Seasons 1-4 (that should tell you how good it is since the original BSG lasted 1 season)
BSG Blood & Chrome (a prequel to the Mini Series story line that was made after)
Caprica (one season only ... last 2 episodes you'll find were a bit rushed due to poor ratings/timeslot affected)

PM me if you want these uploaded.

Then after you enjoy these, since you where 7 watching them you'll probably be around my age, you can enjoy Buck Rogers!

Where is the remake of THAT show?!

Yes only surprising part is which group is watching which show.

Lol at watching space over Anniston and Witherspoon.
