Great, another show for him to ruin the final season of with pseudo-religious crap.

The "god did it" finale annoyed me too, but to be fair, the original BSG concept was somewhat influenced by the Book of Mormon...

SciFi Shows I miss are BSG, Caprica, Farscape and Firefly sadly we SyFylus where people enjoy garbage like todays politics.

Well, things are looking up at the moment: The Expanse is pretty good (the second season was better than the first) and Star Trek - Discovery is probably more appealing to BSG fans than hardcore Trekkies. Haven't seen The Orville but people seem to like it... Altered Carbon starts in February and seems to show great promise... Plus, although its day=after-tomorrow social commentary and not "space opera", Black mirror is probably the best "serious" SF to grace our screens since forever...

Are you seriously saying that YOU THINK the people who debug the software were pulled to work on a TV show?!?!?!?

Sure, that's a silly notion.

However, there is a concern about senior management: if Apple is going to diversify then they need to make sure that each sub-division - Macs, Mobile, Services, Entertainment, Automotive, Estates* - has strong, semi-autonomous leadership that doesn't get messed around by alternating neglect and micro-management by top execs trying to keep a foot in every pie. E.g. at the moment, there's a danger that the Mac business might be seen as the poor cousin to the much larger mobile business instead of, what it is (the third largest PC manufacturer? Biggest retail PC business? Something like that).

* Pretty clear that the top brass regarded the new campus as something more than a way of keeping the rain off their worker's desks...

I love Spielberg, Moore, etc. But what I don't get is... why does Apple which is not able to deliver one polished product in all of 2017 see the need to diversify their portfolio even more and risking even more problems in the future?

To sell more hardware. The AppleTV is not competitive on price and they need more device-specific content to make it competitive. I’m happy with my AppleTV, but there’s no way I would have bought one if it weren’t the only practical device for watching iTunes content on my television.

Starbuck and Starbuck drinking Starbucks in a Starbucks.

What a coincidence! Both their careers went nowhere after Starbuck/s...

You know, I'll give it a shot based off the first two seasons of Galactica. It jumped the shark hardcore after New Caprica, but hey, I don't know whether this guy had anything to do with the mistakes that happened there.

I liked BSG but you are right. It was sort of like Lost where it seemed they didn’t really know where they were going. They didn’t have a well thought out destination and ended up with a very confused story. That said, I’d enjoy rewatching BSG more than Lost. Also in their defense most shows can’t make more than three or four good seasons. But they will milk any successful show for all it is worth.

iPhone X is fantastic.

I blame amazon. It showed Apple that content creators may withhold content from Apple hardware. So Apple had to arm themselves.

Whoa whoa whoa you mean to tell me Starbuck is a chick? Tigh is a white guy? Cylons look like...gulp...humans?!? Burn it! Burn it all down!

Just kidding, being a die-hard original BSG fan I swore off the modern series until a couple of years ago. Watched the first episode and binge watched the rest. I even sought out all the spin-offs. This thread is making me want to rewatch them!

She may be number 6, but she's number 1 in my book.

I tried, man. I really tried. I just couldn't get into the "reboot" series. I can see how it'd be enjoyable to many, but I guess I'm just an old codger who prefers the original series with the original actors, warts and all. Rose-colored nostalgia or something...

Now get the hell off my lawn...

What? iPhone X is polished. iPhone and 8 and 8 Plus are solid. The AirPods, from late 2016, continue to get rave reviews.

Their hardware is doing OK. (Laptop keyboards aside.) The software does appear to need some better QA or slower feature cycles.
A polished product is only as good as its software. "It just works" is not the standard of Apple 2017.

Care to back that up with a list of the five biggest issues with the products that Apple released in 2017?

Totally understandable, I tell you I had sworn off the reboot for years (I grew up watching the original), refusing to watch it--and backed Richard Hatch and his dislike of the new show until they gave him a role, ha. But I really liked the episode "33" and I got hooked on it thereafter. Similar to Star Wars, I'm a die hard original trilogy fan, and they will always be the best in my eyes...but I'm glad I gave the latest episodes a chance!

Glad to meet another BSG OG fan!

33 was one of the best episodes of science fiction on tv ever.

The shame of the series is they had no idea where to go with it after that.

Excellent.

Now maybe they can spend even MORE time not fixing their buggy software before wide release.

Seriously, quit while you're ahead with the knockoff carpool karaoke no one already watches.

Lol. Came here to say this. After the gaping security hole in High Sierra... I mean c'mon it's getting out of hand. Also, iOS 11 lags even on the Pro Motion iPad Pros. That is a software problem. I also experienced bugs on the latest release of iOS 11.2.1 on the iPhone X. It's telling that they're already deep into releases so early in its life cycle.

Hmm... perhaps so many years later, I should give it another chance...

I know - these sound great! Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but what do you have to do to watch an Apple production? Buy it from iTunes? Watch it on an AppleTV? Subscribe to Apple Music and somehow download a video? I honestly don't know, and I'm curious - I'd hate to miss out. Unless it costs too much.

Must be tied to Apple music? I don't know at this point...

Yeah, it was a pretty weird move to fire all the software engineers when they hired people who have a completely unrelated skill set and are doing a completely unrelated thing.

Wait. They didn’t do that.

So are you saying all those hired developers are getting worse ?

In software development, you can focus on quality..... if you are in the business of say being computer company ;) the point many are making is that Apple is spreading into so many things , features and gimmicks take priority over quality .....with the same engineers .

What is not funny is iOS and macOS bugs in the last few years.

Great show, I re-watch this show about once a year. Every time I do, I am sad when it is over.
I used to play the board game (also licensed and based of the reboot) twice a week for about 8 months. That was fun while it lasted. These days, it's very damn difficult to get in games of that since you want to allocate about 4 hours to get in a game. Not to mention you need a group with a mindset that's close (there are hidden traitors and deception involved). Speaking of which....

are they going to feature the space ship campus ?
I can totally see the Apple Campus "spaceship" getting superimposed over an image of Galactica from the board game.... :D

I was waiting for the post. Always has to be one edge lord to run counter to every other opinion.

It’s actually a commonly shared opinion concerning DA9 & BSG, so here’s a tip: it might help having at least a surface level knowledge concerning a topic, before you inanely misuse a meme category.
