Since I have to wait until Feb of next year or there abouts to trade in my phone By then any initial snags should be documented and hopefully fixed, sometimes it pays to wait a few months

----------

It will be interesting to see how a 5.5" iPhone compares to phones like the LG G3.

I went from a Samsung Galaxy 4 with abysmal battery to a WP Lumia 1520 with Fantastic battery, I hope the IP6 can at least come close to the nokia

Wow, great news.
I'm sure Dr. Dre must have something to do with this! :D

----------

The easiest solution is the most obvious. Make the damn phone the same thickness as the current 5s. Problem solved. I don't think many people think the 5s is too thick. This obsession with thinness has, imo, reached a point of diminishing returns. Most don't care if it's the "thinnest iPhone ever". I don't know too many who wouldn't trade a mm of thinness for better battery. Function over form, especially when the form is perfectly serviceable as is.

Exactly!!!!

Lets be realistic. Some people like smaller phones, some people like larger phones. 33% of smart phone users are using phones larger than 5 inches. Just because you don't like a larger phone does not mean someone else does not love it. I know for certain the iPhone 5s is way too small for me. I use an iPad air and a 27in iMac. I will have to weight my choices heavily between the 4.7 and 5.5. More than likely I will have to play with both in the store to determine the benefits vs the negatives. People complaining about the 5.5 in screen size should stop. The fact that Apple is giving people choices is a great thing.

I was amazed that a lot of people still prefer the old iPhone4 form factor too.

----------

I wonder how long the battery will hold on the new 4.7 ?? any ideas? or how big the battery will be 3100?

Not long enough. You will have to wait for iPhone9, iPhone10, or even 11 to get have enough juice. That is the last feature Apple is holding off for a time when they start losing marketshare on phones.

5.5" screens?
At least it will be easier to tell if your iPhone is charged…:D

Perhaps the 5.5 model will be like the iPhone gold at first, just a handful of units. I don't know if they ever ramped up production of those or not, I've not seen many in the wild.

if/when apple releases a 5.5 premium iphone, they will make a KILLING! i believe the excitement is going to be on a level not seen before.

You know there is a simple solution to those here that think the 5.5 incher is too big. JUST DON'T GET IT! You will have other choices! ;)

I didn't believe at the battery issue since the beginning ....

----------

Best way to decide what size you want is to go into an MSFT store and play w/ the Lumias. They have everything from 4" to 6" right there next to each other.

I did .... and I ended up in buying a Lumia 1520 :D

I'm sure AT&T, Verizon, etc would LOVE more people thinking like you.

It really depends on what you use it for. Right now my family already uses drop box to back up our photos (we have a six mint old so we taken hundreds of photos a month of just him). For is, iCloud drive would make a ton of sense because it's an easier solution for photo sharing and the bandwidth is already in use.

On a 10gb plan shared by three people we have yet to even hit 5gb and we generally hover between 3-4. I also do quite a bit of music streaming on my work commute and sometimes at the gym when the wifi is too slammed due to tons of people using it. We do, however, have pictures set to upload only wen on wifi. Browsing permissions, however, are set to all the time.

In short, I don't really see this using much more data if people are just smart about it. Of course, if you are a media junky (read: not one to use the majority of your storage on photos), then I can see your dilemma. But the again, it's pretty clear the person you quoted was referring to photos, I would think, since that's what the iCloud drive announcement was all about.

DAMN ! When I read "Solves Battery Issues" I thought you meant we'll be getting an all-day battery or 10+ hour battery .

:(

Eh. Not to give an excuse to the whiners, but Apple's current track record shows that their precious form factors stop seeing hardware upgrades. You could argue today that if you still wanted a 3.5" iPhone, you can buy one. While that may be true, it's also one with three year old hardware.

If things go how they have in the past (with apple discontinuing certain hardwares), we are likely to see the 4S dropped this refresh, possibly the next. That means the 3.5" form factor is extinct, at least officially through Apple.

These bigger iPhones paired with all the features in iOS 8 pretty much eradicate every complaint about iPhone in existence.....the only thing left to request is an Apple TV App Store......we are going to have to start dreaming up new things to want haha apple is delivering

Shut up...

... And take my money, Apple!!!#

And while you're at it, let's have an iPad Pro

If the past is any indication of the future, the battery on the iphone 6 will be less mil amps than the iphone 5c. They will claim that the new A8 processor will make up for the battery being smaller. They will say you will get 10-12 hrs but in reality you will get about 5 or 6 if you turn off all the cool features that made you want the iphone to begin with. Thinner iphone 6 = thinner smaller battery = runs out before end of day.

I think it’s pretty critical for Apple - at the very least - to present the specifications (and pricing) of both phones at the product keynote in <whenever>. I don’t think people (myself included) would mind a staggered release as much if there aren’t any unknowns. You know, aside from the actual form factor which is best tested in hand. Of course, releasing them at same time solves this, even if the larger option is more limited.

This might be the first iPhone that I don't try and preorder/buy one day one. I think I need to see them in person to see how they feel in my own hand. As long as they're similarly spec'd except for screen size (as seen in iPad Air vs iPad Mini Retina), I don't know which I'll lean toward.
