It started working for me today.

Didn't do anything on my end.

It just, well, started to work again.
Yeah that's happened to me as well. But yesterday's games did not. Hit and miss... still no haptic notifications when wearing the Apple Watch

I had issues with Live Notifications not automatically starting and displaying a Premier League match on my lock screen yesterday for a favourited team within the Apple Sports app, after working perfectly fine earlier in the week.

I had to manually follow the match to get it to display correctly.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with this issue. Hopefully iOS 26.0.1 will fix it.

Many of us had this same issue. It’s hit and miss for live activities across the board.

Update 26.0.1 does not fix the live activities issues. Got start notification of hockey game but no haptic notification for goals scored. Keep on posting to Apple feedback

For me as well, version 26.0.1 does not fix the issue. I still don’t receive notifications for match start, goal updates, or match end in Serie A games, and there is no haptic feedback on the Apple Watch.

Same for me. But be sure when filling out Apple Feedback that you note that it's still broken with watchOS 26.0.2. 26.0.1 was a launch-day update only for the Ultra 3.

Yes very important. I’ve submitted to the iPhone, watch and sports category on their site. It’s important to give as many observations as possible so they can try to repeat it.

Another failed football match for me tonight with Apple Sports missing auto starting my teams Champions League match tonight.

I had to go into the app and manually follow the match, regardless of my team being starred under My Teams.

I really hope iOS 26.1 fixes this

I have the opposite problem where I’m getting notifications with almost no delay, and that spoils games because there is a slight delay on YouTube tv.

Yeah that happens. Don’t use live activities with an Apple Watch? My problem is also no haptic notifications during a game.

I went into the app and removed all my favorites teams and sports. Then added them back. Finally, I turned on live activities for the ones I wanted again and now it is working again.

Is haptic notifications working with an Apple Watch? That's what doesn't work for me.

This garbage is still busted. Amazing how Apple can’t figure out how to push out notifications.

I suggest everyone just switch over to ESPN as it now supports live activities.

That as really crummy solution for everyone to have to do. Everything with Apple services tends to be actual work to make useable. Like iCloud maybe they’ll figure this out in a few years.

They obsess over stuff no one cares about like AI and VisionPro while they can’t even figure out basic push notifications.

I tried that and it didn’t work for me. Still no tap for scoring or begin/end of game events.

Even ESPN will not send haptic notifications when an Apple Watch is being used. That’s been the problem for all live activities for me. However Apple sports is inconsistent at time starting games for favorites.

The sports app for me is terrible. It can't even do basic things right. I recently reinstalled it after laughing at how bad it was originally. Yes its improved and it now has leagues im actually interested however even if you set your favourite teams, while you may (or may not) get the score banner pop up when a game is played if you actually want goal alerts (like most people would) you have to manually open the app find the game and then click 'follow' for every new game. It's just another example of Apple creating things with loads of potential then making stupid decisions that leave everyone going WTF?! It's like they get 3 quarters of the way through making a product these days and then just go for lunch and never come back. So I've deleted the sports app yet again.
I'm not sure what's going on there. You're not supposed to have to follow each individual game. It should work automatically... emphasis on should based on this thread.
