Yah, they don't normally, and am confident that this won't be a special exception. UPS is managing millions of shipments per day; the iPad won't be a special arrangement to deliver here in the sticks. Sucks that they use UPS for a Saturday launch date. I think I will demand my shipping costs back! oh, wait...![]()
But, when Apple slips 10-100 million dollars under the table to cover these extra drivers, and keep their clout, it's incredibly likely. UPS is manage millions of shipments from no names, Apple is giving them AT LEAST $100 million in shipping charges to make this happen, and providing a solid 1/8-1/3 of the shipments moving around on Saturday, yea, exceptions and corporate manipulation is happening as we speak. Every single one of the 200,000+ iPads will be here on Saturday with few exceptions. Greedy drivers <3 triple overtime pay.
EDIT: Fedex would have been a far better and cheaper choice, but monopolization and price locking and whatnot probably led to this denial. Plus, Fedex has far more native Saturday delivery areas. It was an interesting choice, but I'll roll with it, and keep faith in Apple to make it happen.
EDIT2: While I'm still compulsively refreshing my UPS tracking page, I get the distinct feeling that it means nothing. Everyone's iPads are most likely AT LEAST in Louisville, and likely in the closest warehouse. The more in the dark we are kept, the more secretive and SECURE our iPads are.
