I usually order at every iPad refresh but I don’t see many benefits over the 3rd gen iPad Pro. If it would have had 5G I would have ordered but I’ll wait for the fall.

I'm still back at the gen 2 model, and it does much of what I need. I didn't move to gen 3 due to durability concerns (I am a bit of a traveling superuser), but if I did go to gen 3 and was happy with that unit, I can't see why anyone would need to rush to get this one either.

Now if when it starts showing up in people's hands I'm hearing good things about its durability, I'll jump at the purchase of a gen 4 (without the "high-end option display") and give my gen 2 to my wife.

I am very thankful for this forum. I was initially very excited to upgrade my 2018 11" 256GB WIFI to a 2020 12.9" 1TB LTE, but seeing the benchmark scores made me reconsider given it would be a ~$2000 upgrade. I have now cancelled my order, and willing to wait it out and see what comes of the 2020 14" MBP or a new iPad Pro with bigger improvements.

I've had this mindset as soon as I had the first generation 12.9" iPad Pro. I've had every 12.9" iPP from the 1st to 3rd generation (planning on skipping this 4th generation). And after years traveling with it... I've grown accustomed to the size. I always purchase the LTE model... so whenever I go out, I always take it with me. It's my favorite Apple device... and I'll most certainly buy the mini-LED model. However, I highly doubt it comes in fall 2020. I envision a Spring 2021 release...

I think the 12.9 iPad is nice to have for certain scenarios, but for me, it’s a desktop application. That’s all I really intend to use it for, as the majority of my workflow is completed through my iPad. If I want anything for portability, then I would just opt for the 11 or below.

Better than OLED? How is that possible, isn’t miniled still LCD with thicker layer/glass compared with OLED?
Probably meant more reliable than OLED, the larger the screen the more issues... my 65inch oled tv on its second panel is already starting to show image retention issues... its beautiful but the fact it has to be babied is kind of ridiculous

Well that's just embarrassing for these iPads. Did Tim Apple actually "okay" this update or did some Apple Lackey jump the gun? ;)

I thought "we" already knew we'd get the same CPU performance as the A12X. If it had a faster CPU, Apple would have mentioned that. If it gets same GPU scores, then we have a problem...

Is it really not on the radar to do this for the 11"? I was hoping it was being staggered similar to how MacBook 16" came out before the rumored MacBook 14" later this year. But not even on the radar? That's too bad.

The person asked about micro LED, which are not coming to either device anytime soon. They may have meant mini LED which is what the end of year release is rumored to be. Currently the rumor is for 12.9" but there is no mention of an 11". I, too, am wondering why they would do one without the other but maybe, like you said, it is simply going to be staggered.

No, "we" figured it maybe would have a nice 15% bump or so, but not 1%. The GPU is only showing 9% boost as well. That's just unacceptable... Now this is not 103% trustworthy, but it is interesting all the same.

Gonna wait and see what happens at the end of the year no reason to buy the new ipad pro now would love to get the 12.9 inch

I wonder why they are reporting 20% decrease in memory performance - hopefully it's either wrong, or not noticeable in real-world use.

With my limited silicone knowledge. I am assuming that the A12Z is able to shut down several cores when not needed? And then boost itself when needed hence saving battery yet allowing for more powerful boosts? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Sounds like the 2020 iPad Pro is an interim, early 2020 model, that will get passed in performance by a fall release. It really is surprising that Apple didn’t at least swap the CPU to last year’s chip - there must have been a reason not to make the change.

It’s not like I’ve ever thought my 12.9 was lacking in performance, so I don’t see any reason to upgrade (the cameras aren’t enough of a reason). I’ll grab the new keyboard / trackpad and be very happy with what will feel like an all new device.

Still uses a backlight and can still suffer from backlight bleed, uniformity issues, white spot pressure point, etc. OLED or micro LED would've been better especially on a $1K+ device.
