The tariffs were used to get leaders of other countries to come to the table to renegotiate percentages.

Many countries have now enlisted in new talks. And China probably will too, soon.
I'll ask you the same question. Where are you getting these "facts" from?

He made up the tariffs that he claimed other countries were applying. In layman's terms, he lied. Apart from Taiwan, who owe their security to staying onside with the US, literally nobody else has offered anything to Trump that wasn't already there.

You are being lied to, and these lies are very easy to disprove. Why do you choose to believe them?

This was probably the biggest market manipulation event in not just US History, but likely internationally as well. And our government will do...absolutely nothing about it. But god forbid if a Dem did all of this loony tunes sh**. I'm tired boss. We are reaching levels of corruption that I thought was only possible in rotten tomato rated movies

I don’t know why Apple stock is jumping, most of their stuff is produced right in the place with 104% tariffs. 🙄
The delay on the Tariffs, just means what ever happens won't be permanent. So, if you have the cash, buy everything now. It's low, but it will recover, probably a few more crashes before it's all over. But if have cash you don't need on hand for the next 4 years. BUY

One thing that got me thinking that was is listening to the complaining about lack of access for foodstuffs to the EU - surely a post-industrial superpower wouldn't be so concerned with agriculture, and would be more focused on high skill, high value employment.
Well, you can’t eat iPhones.

The way I understand it is every country gets a break except China.

And we are now at 125 Percent.

Which still means its a SAD day for APPLE

I cant Pay 125 percent more to Stick with Apple Products.

I better get use to Windows 11 and Android Phones.

The 10% baseline is still in place. ;)
Is 10% enough to change sending habits to force companies to build factories in the US and use US labor?

Just looks weak to go revert back down to the 10% baseline.

edit: decided it's not worth getting into on here... sorry!

This is, I don’t know what this is but this is just pure chaos and uncertainty. One day it’s 100%+ tariff, the next day is let’s put everything on hold. what’s it going to be tomorrow? Who in their right mind would invest in production facilities in the US under these circumstances.

Nobody said the markets were logical.
Apple/MSFT has the foresight to diversify their supply chain meaning they can scale down in China while scaling up in India or Vietnam. I don't know why Amazon and Walmart would rally though.

My friends and family outside the US have shared photos and discussions of the near-complete boycott of US goods in their regions. This was before any tariffs. I'm not sure countermeasures are needed for the EU, UK, and Canada. Whatever % of revenue came from sales in those regions will be dramatically reduced.

Well, anyway, I wonder what this means for US/Canadian Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, since launch will occur within these 90 days?
I wouldn’t dare to predict anything at this point.

To add to the uncertainty, the president said he might consider exempting some U.S. companies from the tariffs over the 90-day pause period. He said his thinking on this would be made “instinctively.”

I'll admit it's going to be fun to watch folks continually trying to "make sense of what Trump is doing and why it's a great idea" all get rug pulled over and over again as he capriciously flies from one pole to another based upon political and donor class reactions.
Fox and the Scorpion.

Parking mine in bonds and HYSA at the moment. I took money out of both of my Fidelity Index ETF towards the end of March. Kinda wish I knew how to short sell stuff, but I'm not a finance person/bro.

Kudos to Apple diversifying the iPhone supply chain in advance. It’s a long process, but it’s better to be proactive than reactive. And as a weird side benefit, our current Apple devices are ostensibly more valuable (though pretty sure my Vision Pro is about $1,250 at this point 🫠)
