The biggest enemy of Apple is not Google but itself. Most of its profits come from iPhone but they refuse to give people different sizing options and so people like me have pre-ordered the Galaxy S4 because it has a 5" screen compared to my puny iPhones 5's 4" screen.

Why can't Apple just do a 4",4.5", and 5" screens? Give people options, small screen phones are so 2007. Also, redesign iOS, its so boring now.

PLEASE tell me this is a sarcastic post?

Myself and others got some pretty mean replies over the past few months talking about how Apple was overvalued.

Loss to date: $11,772

To the people who were snarky to us. Who's laughing now? :p :D

To those who weren't mean: sorry for your loss :(

Of course you leave out the fact that 90% of that 700M can't afford today's iPhone. If they build a phone for the the middle/lower class of China, that WILL impact profit margins, the stock price, and eventually the brand.

So you are saying that there are 70 million who can afford an iPhone. Sounds about right. Let's see, if Apple gets 30% of that well to do group, that's another 21 million iPhone's a year. Seems like pretty good numbers and some pretty conservative assumptions (though I think your 90% might actually be a little too low).

So Verizon is out with their quarterly numbers. iPhone sales at 4M, down from last quarter but up from 3.2M sold this quarter last year.

People (not saying you're necessarily doing this) always say "oh, stocks are so ridiculous, they go down even when earnings are rising, just because they didn't rise by as much as predicted!"... That totally ignores the fact that stocks are valued on a number of different factors, not the least of which is how much the company will earn. Apple at the moment isn't worth nearly what the stock is valued at even today; when you take into account the future earnings, it could be worth it or even more.

That doesn't mean Apple is a crappy company or that it wont do well in the future, it just means it wont do as well as the current stock price indicates. Apple was valued as the biggest company in the USA a few months ago (still is ?? ).... really? I mean, really?

So you don't think that Apple is going to make $40 billion in profit this year? It did $41 billion last fiscal year (ending September 30, 2012). You think it is going down? Growing more slowly, I expect, but actually decreasing in net profit, with both of its major markets smartphones and tablets still increasing in size, I do not expect.

Competition

The competition has finally caught up with Apple with regard to phones and tablets. MUCH moreso on the former.

Why is it iLife and iWork are not on 18 month release cycles? Why is spotlight so primitive, why is it not more "AI Based?". Why can't Apple's work processor see that I'm writing a research paper and automatically enforce the style guidelines (APA or whichever) Or photo editors that can detect faces and do automatic crops and skin tone fixes. Natural language searchs of my iTune library for the songs with the words like "Who was that who did Blue Suede Shoes?, no I mmeans a more recent cover with female vocals..."

Why can't I simply tell my email software in English. "If Jim sends my anything, text me a summary" and let the software figure out the details.

Spend a Billion Dollars and much of this will happen

EXACTLY!!! best thing I read in this thread. You suck apple. And I've used your **** for 22 years.

Make affordable phones be reasonable to common people then it will sell more.
Then the company will prosper. It is simple business sense.

So what's happened to cause this already today? The component rumours?

Is the market really that receptive to unsubstantiated whispers?

Apple should, in light of the horrendous loss for shareholders continuing, address these rumors.

If the rumors are correct - Tim Cook should have the decency to resign. If he won't, Levinson & the Board should do the second part of their job.

If they are incorrect - address the market.

They don't want to respond about rumors on a routine basis but circumstances are now extraordinary.

Where are all the supporters with their execuses? Apple is on a downward spiral, and with innovation like the GS4, Note 2, and HTC One, it looks like Apple is being muscled out of their own game.

It's been nice knowing you Apple!

They are not innovations. Get over yourself. They are just phones with huge screens.

Apple won't/can't respond to rumors during the "quiet period" which is right before earnings release. And that's when most of these rumors have come out. No way Tim Cook is going to respond to a DigiTimes rumor 1 week before earnings release.

The market overall is taking a bath today. The company I work for is down 4%. Maybe this is a good thing as one could argue the equities market is in a huge bubble. Maybe that bubble is starting to burst.
