Not sure why anyone is surprised ... coming from the guy who bankrupted a casino

That's like somehow screwing up a microwave dinner

The MAGA People are fine with Trump being a moral degenerate, they are fine with his bullying the world etc…however once their little retirement nest eggs start rapidly dropping they will turn on him in a second. This might do it.
They typically don't have one. Their plan is usually to sell off the business they have, small or whatever other assets that are usually crap and live off that cash. No healthcare needed or dental plan. Pay as you go in cash. So most don't care about 401k investments or the likes.

Apple's risk management department and CEO have failed the company. The writing has been on the wall for a decade with respect to Apple's over reliance on China.
Apple has been diversifying since the first Trump administration. Have you missed the part where he put tariffs on all foreign countries
It's all about deception. He did not campaign on worldwide tariffs and DOGE.
he actually constantly said he would implement world wide tariffs. He thinks countries smaller then many states should be importing as many goods as America does.

I don’t really understand trade so maybe I’m missing something, but…

If the US raises tariffs on all of the countries, and all of the countries raise tariffs back on the US but not on each other… How is that a good thing for the US exactly? Surely they’ll all just trade with each other more and cut the US out?

He absolutely 110% did. Did you not pay attention to anything he said? Did you not pay attention to project 2025? You know, the thing Trump said he knew "nothing about" then in the very next breath said "it has some very good ideas"?

Seriously it was all wide out in the open long before the elections. The news (well, real news, what some people call "liberal media") was talking all about it.
Exactly all the news outlets that talked about his horrible proposals were called far left fake news outlets. Many of his supporters only believe what he and certain podcasters tell them is true

It doesn't matter of they're reversed. Politics and business are about relationships. Trump has shattered the reputation of America on the worldwide stage. Even if tariffs are eventually reversed, irreversible economic damage will be done, and no one will trust America like they did before.
Perhaps, but I think everyone knows Trump is an aberration and not a true representation of the US. I mean, we all knew that from last time around.

Having said that, since we already knew exactly who Trump was from last time around, I think the American people are to blame. He won the election; people voted for this. Sure, not everyone, but enough to win. I mean, who's to blame if I put my dog in the driver's seat to take my kids to school, the dog or me?

I know a lot of MAGA folks, and have a A LOT of them in family. Every one of them has a 401k and/or investments, and none live on pure cash. They are middle-class people, with middle-class jobs.

To clarify, I'm not a part of that nonsense.

Did you miss the part where he put tariffs on almost every country a lot of companies including Apple moved to manufacturing in Vietnam which just got hit with a 46% tariff
Nope -- didn't miss that part. But I am am talking about Apple's over reliance on Chinese manufacturing, which is where Apple is (and has been for a very long time) at risk.

It's not

People are deluded into thinking 19th century ideology, protectionism and nationalism is going to somehow be good.

The world has proven to be wildly better and more efficient with international trade combined with regional focus and specialization.

We have deeply unintelligent leadership that lacks any sophistication or historical knowledge around why we got to where we got.

The easy thing is always to destroy -- when what's usually needed is course correction.
It's hard to sell shirts and hats on "Let's Tweak America a Little Bit"

Perhaps Apple can get an exemption if they agree to make changes that agree with the new administration's agenda. Stuff like removing apps about science and history from the App Store, and content on Apple TV+ and Apple News that is contrary to the agenda.

Edit: Or perhaps the incoming NSA director can have a back door into encrypted data on iCloud. That might be enough.
You mean like the democrats have been doing for the past 12 years. See statue removals, book withdrawals, and school curriculum as evidence.

The market is in a sell off for the second day, it isn't just Apple. The market is going through a correction because people know we're going into a recession.
Not just that. Everything has been overpriced for years. I mean simple PE analysis shows just how ridiculously priced stocks are. And that was before tariffs. It’s going to get far worse before it gets better. But let’s remember, Trump wants the power to negotiate trade agreements that he believes are fair to America. This is just the beginning. If countries won’t negotiate and do retaliatory tariffs, Trump will keep inflating it. However, Congress could step in. Let’s remember, the wealthy run America and them losing money is what matters and how the government truly operates. Money makes the world, and money makes the CEOS and politicians GREEDY.

If facts were on your side I would agree with you but they aren’t. The tariffs do work and you will see that fair tariffs can work for everyone. The current tariff structure has worked for everyone else but the US. The initial bump on tariffs during Trumps first term worked for the US and stuck through the Biden admin because they actually did work. We all know he would have removed them if they didn’t.

It's going to be a little rough before things get better. But they will be better than ever once we get rolling again. It's time to stop America from getting ripped off.
Uuhh… the average Americans will get ripped off now, just wait…
The world is far more complex, than Mr. Trump and his fellowship can even think of.

It doesn’t matter all countries just got hit with increased tariffs except Russia and North Korea
Vietnam is planning to eliminate all tariffs. China just increased their tariffs. Countries friendly to the United States will work it out and negotiate. Countries not friendly will dig in exacerbate the problem. China is not a friendly country and Apple produces over 80% of its products there. So, that's on Apple's risk management.
