App is fastest

I just ordered mine on the iPhone app and completely finished the order before my desktop with Firefox had the Apple store open. Yea!

128GB Gold w/ LTE, AppleCare & (Red) cover

I leave on a cruise on Sunday the 26th. Hoping this arrives before then. My 32GB Air doesn't hold a lot of TV shows so the extra space is going to be fantastic for these weeks away from reliable Internet.

Crossing my fingers for a 23rd arrival date!

I'm genuinely curious. What hardware features are you after that the iPad doesn't offer?

This post speaks volumes. This is a moderator on THIS MACrumors forum. :eek::eek::eek::eek:

I find Google+, Google Drive, and Dropbox to be much better solutions than iCloud. I don't like "syncing" and don't consider iCloud to be a true cloud - it's a mess IMO.

Google+ provides a real cloud both backup and accessibility from any device, browser, and platform. Dropbox provides file syncing better any device and platform.

i saw the nexus 7 at best buy almost a year ago and one look was enough to make me not want to buy it

what do the android tablets have the ipad doesn't?

I am not abandoning Apple by any means, I love their software 1st, their hardware (Sadly recently) 2nd. Just as my need for a PC sitting next to my PowerPC G4, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro, I sometimes need to use a different tool for a given job. I would also not be the 1st Moderator to have both iOS and Android, many of them dabble in both worlds, like many tech fans tend to do.

As far as a Tablet, The rear facing, mono, speaker on the iPad kills me. I often use my tablet to show clients finished videos, and I enjoy having a tablet for casual video / youtube browsing online, or within my library. Having to pull my iPad out of a case, to hear it properly just kills me. The front speakers on HTC, nVidia and similar products are leaps and bounds better.

I also use SD cards in many of my camera equipment, and I often need to review footage quickly, do a quick edit for Instagram / YouTube when I am covering an event for a big client. While the cameras I use do support WIFI file sharing, it is abysmally slow when working with HD files, and the transfer process sucks down valuable battery life on the cameras, and the tablets I use.

Since my GoPro, and other action cameras have had no issues with Micro SD cards for years now, I have now (call me crazy) switched to Micro SD cards in my SLR cameras too. Having a Tablet that will support this will be huge for doing quick edits, and posts while I am on the road.

I am fully aware that an adapter exists for our devices, however I also fully admit that in the heat of the moment (I often leave for a shoot at a moments notice) I am a complete Space Case! For the same reasons I forget Thunderbolt connectors for my MacBook Pro, I will also forget the lightning SD card reader for my tablet. Apple, You gave us SD readers in our Mini, and MacBook models, why not sacrifice a tiny bit of Thin for the convenience of having it in an iPad!!??

There are also a few Android Applications that I would like to try that some colleagues in the field are running. And lastly, one of the models (the nVidia Shield) is tempting me, as I can stream my PC games anyplace in my house so I can have a little more than 'casual' gaming while I am away from my gaming tower. The last thing isn't productivity related, but hey a tablet has to make a great toy too right? :p

In the end, I am not 100% sure what I will do, it's a tough call either way. Hopefully I can have both down the road, just need to get some other work done first and earn some more toy funds!

I just got word from my friend at apple that when the store comes back online the entire iPod line will see a minor refresh. same look, but larger flash storage and minor price changes

Welp, so much for your friend's inside information... :p

Or maybe a mashup between Sculley and Spindler. Sculley was father of the Newton; Cook delivered the Apple Watch. Spindler birthed way too many just slightly similar Mac models to thoroughly confuse consumers; Cook is selling 3 different iPad mini models, two of which are only differentiated by Touch ID and gold aluminum.

Yes and it's hard to understand. Especially for an extra $100. Clearly Apple is trying to pull the wool over consumer's eyes -- iPad 3 contains a bigger number than iPad 2 therefore it must be better. Question is, will it backfire?

I've had a rethink on this. I think the original mini is still around to clear out inventory and will be gone within 6 months. I think the A8 was destined for the mini but supply constraints are an issue. If Apple was planning to phase out the mini what's the point of the mini 3? Just reduce the price on the mini 2 and be done with it. Apple could hardly do nothing to the mini and keep the $399 price point. At the same time getting rid of the $399 mini only to reintroduce it next spring makes no sense either. So perhaps the current mini 3 is a placeholder for an upgraded device next spring. And maybe this moves the mini upgrade cycle to the spring (being a quarter or so behind the Air keeps the Air and possibly future "pro" as the flavship device).

Do the ipad ship times tend to slip fast? I thought these were readily available on launch day.

Ordered mine, on its way. Just as an FYI, I tried ordering from MacMall. You have to call, they don't have available online. Got all the way through my order, and then was told it expected to *ship* (not arrive) on 10/31, which is too late for me (need it as a gift). It sounds like the 3rd party retailers have to order from Apple, have it shipped to them, then ship to you. Seems like a raw deal for resellers.

So I paid the sales tax and got directly from Apple. Expected delivery is 10/24 or 10/25.

Want to order it, but I ordered an iPhone 6 on September 23rd & I still don't have it in my possession :( Tired of the waiting game

Given the minimal change from 2 to 3, I'd be inclined to buy a refurbished 2 from Apple....you can get a 64GB 2 for less than a 16GB 3.

Refurbished Mini 2 prices:
16GB = $249
32GB = $299
64GB = $349
128GB= $439

Thanks! I forgot about the Refurbs

Sure as heck doesn't have to go down for 4-5 hrs for that.
Regardless we can only speculate. I am sure their IT department has limited opportunities to implement server or database changes. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a lot more going on than a simple store update / change.
