Doubt it? Refer back to the prior incarnation of iMac Pro and check that pricing.
(NB: Not disagreeing...)

You can get a 32GB/1TB/32 core GPU Mac Studio for $2400, add a Studio Display for $1600 and still have $1000 change from the base price of the iMac Pro. You get a faster CPU, a your-mileage-may-vary GPU, same RAM and SSD plus the 4TB ports that were one oft-overlooked advantage of the iMac Pro over the regular iMac.

Even c.f. the iMac - a M2 Mini, upgraded to 512GB SSD + Studio Display comes to $2400 and performance-wise is really comparable with the $2300 i7 2020 iMac.

So its really just the lower-end i5 iMac that doesn't have a comparably priced Mac + 5k display replacement... although the new 24" iMac is a lot better than the old "small" iMac.

...and, yeah, any new "affordable" better-than-5k display from Apple is only going to be "affordable" c.f. the Pro XDR.

Which makes no sense to me. Consumers aren’t going to avoid this device because they think a consumer priced device is coming later. That isn’t how Apple works.
I would imagine most consumers would avoid the device because it’s $3,000 or more (depending on configuration) and has no software for it. :) Sure there are some that will want it just because it exists, but I don’t think Apple will have a problem supplying them for the companies that want them. They’ll have most of them on the Apple Store for Business for preorder and a few on the regular Apple Store. Once they sell out on the regular store and delivery dates are pushing into December, they’ll still be able to sell to Business customers.

UPDATE: I suppose my “or more” was accurate. :) But, as it looks like there WILL be experiences (and won’t be out this year), so no concern about lack of supply this year! I do expect some kind of announcement to developers regarding how they can get their hands on one that they can will have to return, like the first Apple Silicon Mac Mini’s, though.

So after the keynote, I’m back to options for updating my 2017 iMac. Looks like best solution is a refurb’d 2020 iMac. The $7k entry price for the iMacPro puts it firmly out of reach (or need, if I’m honest).
