My mom wants a max and I’m stalking the apple website to hopefully snag one for in store pickup by her bday next weekend the 9th. There is absolutely nothing at the 12 nearest stores. Is this realistic? Will they get new stock and some may pop up? Also is it better to pick my carrier or click the unlocked one? Does that matter at all?

I think you’ve got a chance, at least. The stores are definitely getting some stock and they do pop up occasionally, but they don’t last long.

You might also want to check your carrier and maybe Best Buy as well, unless you want to do iUP or Apple Card financing.

Best Buy and Verizon by me are completely backordered but I have my eyes on all 3 stores. Thank you!

some more phones popping up now

A white 13P 1TB showed up. I should have grabbed it. I went to look at 360° image of the white and I kind of like it. Reminds me of the 4.

I'm on the hunt for a Pro Max in 128gb in any color besides gold. Do you think my chances are better getting a T-Mobile phone or unlocked? Or will the availability screen show me if there are phones for other carriers/unlocked?

This site is helpful - it's an inventory checker. Verify as a human, then enter zip code and select phone series. It will refresh with inventory around all nearby Apple stores. PS - Carrier selection does not matter when buying from Apple as they are all the same SKU.

Was able to score a Pro Max 128GB Sierra Blue on Tuesday morning, South Florida.

SO glad I scored my 256GB Sierra Blue 13 Pro on launch day in-store pickup by checking at like 730-8AM. Usually, inventory is scarce after launch day but not like this...wow.

I got my 256GB Graphite 13 Pro delivered on launch day (I always preorder the moment they go up) and managed to get the same variant in Sierra Blue for my wife on 9/26 at a local Apple store. Ever since then, all NYC/NJ area Apple stores have been sold out of every variant.

Yup! Crazy...if anyone didn't get the color they like this year, they'll probably have to hold on to it...that 14 day window is looking smaller and smaller, at least in the NYC/NJ area.

Does it refresh on its own or do you need to refresh manually

My wife wasn't even planning on upgrading, as she was still happy with her 11 Pro, but her birthday is coming up next week and I insisted on making the 13 Pro her birthday present. We went to the store on the 25th and I reserved it for pickup on the following day, which was a smart move on my part. When we arrived for our appointment, they were already sold out of most variants, including the 256 GB Sierra Blue 13 Pro.
