I have a FAN account went through apple.com, passed att verification. One I selected to have it shipped to me though I got a reservation instead of being able to check out.

For me, AT&T shows the button to pre-order the iPhone 4S, but leads to the iPhone 4.

Apple lets me place the order all the way to the end, only to state that I cannot order due to an error.

I am beyond frustrated, and will be tired at work tomorrow because of this. I planned to wake up, order and sleep. Now I'm wide awake due to these mishaps.

Make sure you click the pre-order checkbox

AT&T site faster

could not get through on Apple.com, however AT&T site was super fast and smooth once the upgrade came available at 1 AM / PST. Had to pre-pay, but they ship it to you for it to arrive on the 14th.. and shipping is free.

I have a Best Buy FAN and I quit working there almost 2 years ago......WTF!

Screw you Best Buy for not keeping up with this crap....

This is just getting annoying. Anyone think they'll have iPhones available in store on launch day? That might be the way to go (so I can sleep now).

Now I can't get past the eligibility check...

Made it all the way to the end 3 times before getting kicked out. Now this crap

Anyone else with unlimited AT&T have to select "iPhone 4s unlimited plan"? My account said that the iPhone 4 unlimited plan was not compatible, but that I would have to choose the iPhone 4s unlimited plan for 30.00 a month.

I believe that if you have an ATT FAN discount account, that may be the problem. I cant get mine to go through on either Apple or ATT. Always kicks me out at the ATT verification step (although it works fine through the separate verification page - at least to tell me I can get the upgrade pricing).

This happened on on the previous iPhone upgrades. I eventually had to go to ATT store to order my iPhone. No rhyme nor reason. I am pretty sure I ordered online for my iPhone 4 last year on launch day.

I got through to the part where it asked me to choose a texting plan and I have a FAN on my account. It then promptly timed out after that step. I'm about ready to switch to Verizon and I freaking WORK for AT&T.

AT&T, screwing over their loyal FAN accounts.

Good night, and I guess I'll try tomorrow.

Finally got my order through at ATT. I can't believe I had to have it shipped to my home and now someone there has to ship it to me here at school. Why can't the shipping and billing address be different? Such a joke.

While ordering on Att. Warning says

Important Information:
The phone you've chosen is NOT COMPATIBLE with the following feature(s) currently on your account:

Data Unlimited for iPhone

Note: To avoid excessive charges, please log into att.com/mywireless or call Customer Care at 800-331-0500 after you've activated your new device to remove your current incompatible feature(s) and to add new compatible feature(s) to your account.

That blows

Angry

Tried for the last 1.5 hours on AT&T and Apple.

About to give up and get some sleep. Too bad because I've already locked a price on the re-sell of my iPhone 4, so if the 4S is sold out and back ordered, I won't get that price and will end up paying the full upgrade price. That sucks. They need to change this ordering system!!

64gb white ordered thru att on my ipad. to those people who arent seeing the 4s in the store on att use a different computer. i only got the 4 on my computer but on my ipad it was a breeze.

Why does this process have to be so ****ing rediculous? All this hoop jumping for checking upgrade prices, etc....its almost 2012 and they can't get this **** ironed out.

It's the most archaic system of all time

I got it processing and then at the very end it kicked me out on apple website. now when I try it can oder already exists and there is a continue button but hitting it nothings happens?

anyone else?

Screw Apple.com, just put through an upgrade on AT&T website with no problems. Considering past history, thought that would be the other way around. Ah well, finally off to bed.

For UK customers, appears that the old micro-SIMs from the 4 should work so if you want to pony up and pay for an unlocked phone (best iPods money can buy) then you can buy right now from apple.com. 3 still offering micro-SIM only contracts starting at £15 per month!!

Unlocked iPhone disclaimers from Apple:

The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a contract commitment. You can activate and use it on the supported GSM wireless network of your choice.* The unlocked iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S will not work with CDMA-based carriers.
If you don’t want a multiyear service contract or if you prefer to use a local carrier when traveling abroad, the unlocked iPhone is the best choice. It arrives without a micro-SIM card, so you’ll need an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide. To start using it, simply insert the micro-SIM card into the slot on your iPhone and turn it on by pressing and holding the On/Off button for a few seconds. Then follow the onscreen instructions to set up your iPhone.
* Credit check may be required; must be 18 or older. An unlocked iPhone may be activated on supported GSM carrier networks. See www.apple.com/uk/iphone for more information. Service may not be available in all areas or at the signal strength, rates, speeds or bandwidth as demonstrated. Wi-Fi Internet access required for some features; broadband recommended; fees may apply. Some applications, features and services are not available in all areas. Check with your service provider about network coverage in your area and international roaming options. Warranty information available at www.apple.com/legal/warranty/iphone. When available, transferring your mobile number to a different service provider will terminate your service with your existing provider; termination fees and other charges may apply. Some features may require added fees. Contact your service provider for more details. Use constitutes acceptance of Apple’s software licence agreement and third-party terms located in the iPhone box. Unauthorised modification of your iPhone software violates the software licence agreement. Inability to use an iPhone due to unauthorised modifications is not covered under your warranty.
