So technically speaking, Can i go to my local apple store and camp overnight and hopefully get an iPhone 7 Plus on the 16th if i'm early enough in the line?

I have an iPhone 7 Plus preordered and it has a delivery date of Oct 4-10 but if i can get an iPhone 7 Plus 128gb this friday (dont care if jet black or matte black) then id rather do it if i can,

Anyone camping out overnight will be get an opportunity to buy the iPhone they want on a first come first get basis right? meaning whoever is in line first is likely to get whichever model they want considering they are early enough in line and considering the store has a stock for that color/storage configuration? no reserve system ahead or anything like that this year right?

if your paying out right then yes you can. get there like at 6AM or 5AM. if you are upgrading with a carrier then you will most likely not get approved because your number is already linked with an upgrade.

Don't understand why this year it's so late. Even for the 6 plus, I got it within September. Mine is Oct 4-10, too. No luck for me tho gotta work. :/ I guess if you're one of the first 10 people then you'll likely get one in store. But you have to camp at least on Thursday noon. In my area, last year there was already a relatively long line on Thursday noon.
And it was just for the boring 6s. This year I think it'll be harder.

Yeah im buying outright paying in full

I'm guessing the lines will be shorter this year. Heck, it is still possible to get an 8:30am in-store reservation at Michigan Avenue in Chicago for the 7 (not 7 Plus). Last year the time slots filled up much more quickly IIRC. This is a much more muted launch. I expect next year will be crazy, though (almost like the 6 launch).

Says who? My Apple Store says that upgrading in store can be done. It just might take a little longer.

T mobile and sprint both have said the 7 launch is beating all their previous pre order sales. If that holds true for people looking to buy in store you might need to start lining up Thursday morning lol

What do you mean in store reservation? the apple stores are taking reservations for people to come in to the store in the morning? whats the point of camping out on thursday night then hoping i can get a phone on friday morning if they are reserving spots for people to come in 3 days before the iphone comes out?

Where are you seeing reservations still available? That is the store I am thinking about camping at... but I need a 7+ JB or Matte...

What time do you think I should get to the Chicago store? I was thinking Thursday evening but that could be to aggressive.

You can actually reserve 32GB iPhone 7 Plus (no JB or Black, of course) for an 8:30 pickup on Verizon using the Apple Store App. The basic 7s are available in most colors and capacities (except JB) for Verizon and Sprint (only 32GB for AT&T and no 256GB for T-Mobile) for an 8:30 pickup. The Lincoln Park store time slots are filled until 1:00pm (probably because it is listed first in the app).

One option is to reserve something else, and then try asking the rep when you get there if another phone is available. 8:30 is the second wave of reservations, but you'll still get in the store more quickly than the campers if last year is any guide. I had an 8:00am reservation last year (and this year), and they let the reservation line in first. I was in the second batch in the store and was out the door by 8:30.
[doublepost=1473781908][/doublepost]Just to clarify my last message, I am upgrading through the Apple Upgrade Program (I joined the program last year). It looks like reservations are not available using the other purchase options. Interesting. For all the issues people had with the upgrade program, it looks like Chicago-area stores were better stocked.

Are you talking about buying the phone with a contract or something? because you're mentioning carriers and what not, Im talking about coming to the store and buying it outright in full price, where on apple.com does it let you "reserve" an iPhone for pickup on Friday Morning? and if they do let you reserve, then why would people camp out of the store waiting in uncertainty when there are people "Reserving" spots, im not sure i understand this whole scanerio

Sorry, I am able to make a reservation on the Apple Store App, but only because it detects that I bought my phone last year through the upgrade program. There is separate inventory set aside for that purpose.

I see, that makes sense now that you mention that, i dont like these upgrade programs and paying in financing for my phones or any product for that matter, i like to buy my phone outright and pay in full straightforward

So I just called my local Apple Store and they claim I could have reserved a spot online to come and pick up the iPhone I wanted on the 16th, I did not see any "reserve" option when I preordered my iPhone at 3am on the 9th when preorders went live, I asked him if I came early morning ok Thursday if I will be able to buy the phone and he says probably not because they reserved most of their stock, what kind of bs is that?

Was there a lineup last year? I remember a huge lineup for the iPhone 6 but none for the 6s.
It was well stocked plus there wasn't a need to illegally export to mainland China anymore since they released there at the same time.

yeah im pretty sure there was a lineup outside of stores for the iPhone 6S,

What i dont understand is how are people "Reserving" an appointment to walk in to the apple store in the morning of the 16 and just buy an iPhone 7 straightforward outright? if they are doing reservations before the iPhone even came out then what is the point of having people wait outside of the stores?

I have been to two of the apple stores near by me and I got two different answers on this. One said they were doing reservations and the other one said they were doing walk-ins.

So what does that mean? is my chance of just going on friday morning to an apple store to pick up a 128gb matte black 7 plus realistic or no? im paying outright for the device in full

My advice if you go and when you get inside is to Quickly state to the Apple employee I want 7 Plus Matte Balck clearly, why ? Because they like to Chit Chat and while you are chit chatting some other guy might take your black 7 Plus.

So I don't really know. I am also looking to wait in line too since I want a 7 Plus 256 Jet Black. So I am going to my apple store on Thursday, the same one I lined up for the iPhone 6 Plus and see how the lines are and ask the manager if they are still allowing line ups.

So it seems that apple is doing reservations for Friday but those are all pre-orders and iPhone upgrade program. Reservations for non pre-orders open the next day Saturday at 8:00 AM

The apple store employees come around at 6:00 in the morning with a iPad and slips of paper and they ask you what phone you want and they check to see if its still there then they either send you a txt or email or give you a pice of paper with what you choose.

I was told by the manager at the Apple Store in Albany, NY that they would open at 8AM and the mall is allowing lines starting at 5AM.

Also if camping out is dependent on the mall and the apple store not all malls allow it so you need to check that out on Thursday.
