My uncle has been waiting in line for 3 days. Was told he was guaranteed a jet black model. Late yesterday, he is told " oh sorry, we made a mistake..." offered him a 25 gift card and a smoothie. He is pissed.
Was there something wrong the smoothie? LOL!

Thank you for the direct links. I was searching and did not find any official sources like that. Also, I did not know the statement came directly from Tim Cook, and still those sites only list "Apple" not "Tim Cook" as the source of the statement. I was just passing along information I had received. I don't plan on camping out so I wasn't expecting a phone tomorrow anyway, unless my preorder at Target magically becomes available. My best bet at this point is to check Apple Store reservations starting Saturday morning at 8am.
I think Tim Cook just wants one for himself on Friday and is shortening the playing field while waiting in line to buy his JB 7+ iPhone 7!

Despite what Apple is saying, I still think a few may get lucky tomorrow. For whatever the reason - a snafu, the gods were smiling, someone messes up somewhere, whatever the reason - it may (and I think it will) happen.

If people wanna wait, it's their prerogative.

Even if someone doesn't for example pick up their iPhone Upgrade reserved phone... It has to stay reserved for 24 hours...

I just went to the Apple store in Chicago... The manager advised anyone trying to get a walk-in for ANY iPhone 7 plus in ANY color would not get a phone... so I left and am now having a beer at the local pub.

Smart choice, i was planning to do an overnighter outside of an apple store today as well up until the Apple announcement this morning that said no Plus models will be available for walk-ins, ill just wait for my preorder to arrive in 2-3 weeks

Michigan Avenue? What kind of line was there? I'll be there when it opens since I have a reservation but am curious as to the size of the walk-in line since there is no 7+ available yet.

To pile on, I have a reservation at 9.30am at the Lincoln Park Store... what time does one show up to "check in" at that time slot? I'm not the wait in line type, and am a novice at going to Apple store on launch day (horrible to make AUP members do so, btw), so want to see how early I need to be there to check in then. Advice will be appreciated! Thanks.

If last year is any indication just show up a few minutes before your slot. You will get priority in the reservation line over those with 10:00 or later. I had an 8:00am last year and showed up around 7:45. I got in around 8:05. This was Michigan Avenue. It's the same this year. It took longer for slots to run out there than at Lincoln Park and it is more convenient for me anyway.

There is a separate line for reservations and there are reps to direct you to the right one.

But if the reports are right then most will go home empty-handed. I can't see people with reservations camping out all night.
