Was there a lineup last year? I remember a huge lineup for the iPhone 6 but none for the 6s.
It was well stocked plus there wasn't a need to illegally export to mainland China anymore since they released there at the same time.
Last year there were 2 lines. One for reservations and another for walk-ins. They had stock for both.

You could add another line to your account and get another phone, otherwise you would have to purchase it out right like they mentioned because there's already a phone linked to your account that you ordered online. If you want to get in line at the store, people are going to be there probably around midnight and earlier to camp out. So if you're going to go, go very early or the day before and just stay the night bring you a cooler with some food and a drink. Hopefully the other people in line will hold your spot while you go to the restroom. LOL

So technically speaking, Can i go to my local apple store and camp overnight and hopefully get an iPhone 7 Plus on the 16th if i'm early enough in the line?

Yes. It's what I do every year.

The non-reserved line I was in last year had hundreds of people in it.

So how do you end up getting the phone you're camping out for if there are hundreds of people in line?

I show up early enough to make sure I am either first in line, or really damned close.

Ok, So you're saying they should definitely have stock of the 128gb iPhone 7 plus matte black for friday morning? i mean that should be realistic for me to assume ill get one on friday if i end up going out there to the apple store on thursday early enough?

You generally make friends with the people in line, when I waited in line for the 6 Plus we all watched each other spots when one went to the bathrooms or went to get food.

Also it depends on your store, for example I plan on going on Thursday morning at 10am to see how long the lines are and as long as they are short I will come back latter on in the day like around 2.

Are you paying cash or something? Why do this and not order online?

Another reason to stand in line is, like in my case my carrier screwed up my pre-order and due to that they pushed out my pre-order till November 5th so I don't have a choice but to stand in line, unless my carrier can fix the issue they did say they would call me back tomorrow.

It doesn't matter if there's already a phone linked to your account. I've already verified at the Apple Store that if I find a phone I want, they can cancel the pre-order and reset the eligibility. They did say that it might take some time though. If I knew store stock, I'd cancel my October 4-10 now.

I didn't want to make a new thread for this, but I've been wondering, will the phones be in Apple Stores before Friday? I'm hoping I can see them in person before the rush.

Not until Friday, but you can go look at the 6S, almost the same thing :)

I hope there will be at least 10 Jet Black iPhones at in the larger apple stores in each state on launch day for walk in so if you are one of the first 10 people in line then you could get one.

According to several other threads, and my conversations with Apple Store & Business Managers, this year there is no walk in stock on Friday, only reservations. This is UK.

So no point queuing at all.

yeah im pretty sure there was a lineup outside of stores for the iPhone 6S,

What i dont understand is how are people "Reserving" an appointment to walk in to the apple store in the morning of the 16 and just buy an iPhone 7 straightforward outright? if they are doing reservations before the iPhone even came out then what is the point of having people wait outside of the stores?
Apple's retail director has stated she is trying to dissipate the lines at Stores to obtain launch day products.

I was about to mention this, appears it's only in the UK though? Crazy to think no one will be queuing up Friday morning lol.

T mobile and sprint both have said the 7 launch is beating all their previous pre order sales. If that holds true for people looking to buy in store you might need to start lining up Thursday morning lol
I actually hope it sells like crazy. Put all the doom and gloom to rest.

Let the media target Note7 with Samsung getting their doom and gloom until they recover with Project Valley. Then I can pick one of those Mr. Boombastic Note7 up. I also can get my PS4 slim on the same day. Nobody is talking about that little $300 machine and it gets released the day before iPhone 7. Doubt either Note7 or PS4 slim will sell out once I arrive in the States on Oct 16 with the iPhone 7 hoopla still going on. No shutouts for me. ;)

Actually camping out for a 7/7+ or just waiting in line for one is fun. I suggest people to just experience it. Apple Stores might sometimes offer free water bottles. I love it when you enter, the employees are clapping. Experience is worth it. Build a camaraderie with others with the same passion as you. I miss that with console launches from a decade ago. Just go go go! Buy buy buy! Makes it easier on my future purchases too! ;)

Sometimes it isn't just about getting to your destination. Most of the fun comes from the journey. Have fun on Friday if any of you go...

Last great ad I enjoyed from Apple

This is the first time I didn't pre-order because I need a sim-free/non-carrier phone. Apple says these will be available on Friday. How will that work?

At the Columbia Mall in Columbia, MD, people queue up hours before the mall opens in a parking garage, the opening of which gets very close to the Apple Store. In the past, I used to arrive early and avoid the security cars, then drive into the parking garage when I thought it was safe. Security has also dispersed the crowd the last year that I waited. That was a couple of years ago. I remember one year getting there around 3 am only to find a large line in the garage. I got in the line and waited. Finally, we were ushered into the mall, slowly, very slowly. I had wanted an AT&T iPad. Finally, after an additional long wait, I got to the head of the line. This is no lie, I heard someone yell out of the Apple store, "We just ran out of AT&T iPads!" I thought, "Damn it, I'm going to buy something." So I went into the store and bought a WiFI only iPad. I took it home and thought, "This isn't what I want." I returned it and ordered the iPad online. Lesson learned. I'm not standing in long lines for a hope.
