Wow, that's not going to help the old "BBC is biased towards Mac" arguement. But having the store broadcast on the national 10 O'clock news is brilliant publicity for Apple.

Make sure you have Real Player installed. You can access it by going to news.bbc.co.uk and clicking the "Watch BBC News in Video" button at the top right of the page. This brings up a separate news window where you can select "1, 6 and 10 o'clock news" bulletins at the bottom and then this video will play.

OK...nearly time for the midnight update! 😀

Just gone for a walk around the block and the people at the end now, think they are around the 250 mark. I think with the people who have called timeout for food and WC breaks that it may be closer to the 275-300 mark.

If you want a bag, you better get a move on.

Great atmosphere down here. Everyone walking down Regent St is stopping to gawp in the windows and take pictures. The front of the line on Regent St (the back is much more peaceful and quiet... and dark!) is getting a lot of drunken people now.

Yeah i counted 240ish at 11:50pm. I'm not good at counting though - that's what you get for having a maths degree.

I gave up counting after the second beer and a bottle of wine! 😉

The Beeb news bulletin reported it using the description 'dozens', but they must have pulled the footage from about 4 hrs earlier.

Man, it's cold in my house so you guys must be feeling it! More power to you.

Could be those in the queue are exagerating? Maybe the cold has gone to their heads and they're not thinking straight 🙂

Those numbers are concerning me though, I really don't fancy getting up there in three hours and finding I'm number 400 and something... but I don't want to leave it and find that there weren't that many people there.

Oh, dilema. Is it worth standing in the freeeeezing cold for 7 hours to save 500 quid on some Mac stuff? At my hourly rate, yes... but, in the sensibility stakes I dunno... bed or apple, bed or apple, bed or apple, bed or apple? Oh I really don't know.

I'm afraid my bed is going to win this one.

Froze my nuts off coming home 😱 so I'm not going back in. Taking a friend iBook shopping tomorrow though so if any of you guys are still alive then I may see you in the store tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck to you all.

C

🙂

What if Apple opens the doors in 9 hours and the first 200 people in line are frozen solid so they can't move their feet to enter the store? Will Apple employees use PowerBooks to heat them up again before letting anyone else in?

I bet those Apple iPod socks are going to be bought for more than keeping your iPod warm 😉

2.24am

I am starting to feel the cold here. My iBook has abour 18% of battery.

I'm trying to get some rest, but the amount of caffine I've been hacing is preventing me from going to noddy land.

I can barely feel my fingers.

I am pissed off at the amount of people asking us why we're here.

Must be quite a few of "hard core" mac fans there, if your noticed by passer-byes.

I'm 20 mins away but have decided to give the store a miss and go to the Expo instead.

Respect to the al-nighters.
