Apple Store London to open November 21

Wow! That was amazing... the feeling of walking into that store (no 12) was pretty well indescribable. All the Apple employees (save the 6 manning the registers) clapping, high fiving, cheering us on. The throng of people stopping traffic on Regent St to watch us walk inside was pretty spectacular too

As for 'not having to buy a bag' - well, no - although as you were swept into the store, you were swept straight to the back register to collect one... so they were hard to resist! I'd say though that the general feeling amongst those opening them was disappointment - I heard thirdhand of a single iPod discovered and many were getting £70 travel speakers with another group of the £120 iSights.

And no, there were no iPod socks for the first in either

Great fun tho and would camp out again despite the cold since meeting everyone in line and experiencing the atmosphere was amazing. Thanks to all who made it so good!
 
The opening...

Thanks to everyone who made the night tolerable through the bitter cold, especially Tom and Saif from Sothampton University, who were hilarious!

The bag was ok, and i would definitely do it again.......if required! The only bad thing is that i haven't saved up enough money to buy a PowerBook yet as i am but a poor student! I got an iSight, which isn't really much use to me due to the lack of a Mac. anyone fancy swapping it for an iPod mini?

At first I thought the guys who had been to multiple store openings were a little crazy, but after today I can see how it could get addictive 🙂 Tho I don't fancy camping out outside the Bullring or Bluewater.

I would just like to thank everyone (especially matt) for making the cold and long wait as much fun as it was.

So ok I got speaker, but the lucky bags were still a bargain!

and all the hardship waiting outside for 15 hours was forgotten on the welcome we received when we entered the store.

People thought I was mad (and perhaps I am with cinnamon and macs) but if more people in this world were as nice and the people in that queue over the weekend this is no problem we could not solve in this world.

A big pat on the back to everyone involved

They did seem to be cutting the costs of the bags to the bone - it's probably lack of sleep, but I can't quite figure out how the £705 adds up, unless the World Book is £38. Even then, the original list has been fiddled a tad, though.

The people I *really* sympathise with are those who'll have been told all through the night, based on lots of people counting, and what seemed to be a fairly solid count handed down the line, that they were in the first 300, only to be turned away. I went from being in the very low 200s to the last 40 on the door, and seemed to drop a few more places between there and the lucky bag queue... Not only were Apple staff in evidence all through the night, but there were *lots* of video passes down the line that I'm sure people would have been happy to lend. I'd have thought it would have been a very good demonstration of the sheer usability of the AV software available to have sorted a rough reference list out between, say, 6 and 10am.

I wasn't one of the mentalists who braved the night on regent street (etc). I managed to turn up at 7:45 this morning and still get a T-Shirt, but alas no lucky bag. It has to be said that those who got them certainly deserved them for their efforts.

Was interesting to finally get inside that place, it was buzzing! Also managed to get hold of an iPod photo! just transferring my music and pics onto it now!

now for an afternoon nap!
 
Just got home...just about to go to bed..sooo tired!

It was an amazing entrance and I was pretty impressed with the police and security throwing out queue jumpers during the last few hours.

My lucky bag is for sale if anyone who didnt manage to get there is interested. PM me with offers (about £350 and above I'd say) (contents iSight, Airport Express, keyboard etc)

Ah well, nice to meet some of you guys, post your photos asap!

..off to bed..Apple store openings make me dizzy!

I just left at 1:30 and witnessed the last t-shirts being handed out, oh plus of course it has started to rain! Definitely glad I came when I came! Perhaps I bought too much stuff though... i don't have enough arms 🙂

Thats me. I arrived at midnight, or just after, and counted, I was 280th in line. I never moved position... And was 4 or 500th into the store. The people that oush in really spoil it fir everyone... I was a bit pi$$ed off with that...

Now for the *I-love-you-apple* bit... I got into the store, and as I got in, there were the cheers. I got my t-shirt, and saw a queue going up to the check out. I thought I had no chance of a lucky bag at this point.... I wasn't in the second group in, I wasn't in the first 300. Then I saw someone being given a lucky bag over the counter...! But... It was the VERY last one... So, depressed, I walked round the apple store for a bit, and then I bumped into a apple person whop asked me why I was down. I told her, I had been camping since midnight, I was 13, (youngest there!) and thats why I was down... After a bit of talk, she came back with a SILVER IPOD MINI! And gave it to me for free! That is SO freakin' awesome! I LOVE apple! Anyway, no I have two silver minis. And I am going to be spending my weekends at the apple store... 😉

Just thought I'd share.

can someone post a picture of the t-shirt as i want to know what it looks like (i'm keeping mine sealed to keep ebay value)

and dose anyone know where all those pictures they took of us are going to be posted?

Got back about an hour ago and i am soooooo tired! Only got 30 mins sleep, it was so damn cold!
I was with my mate, Chimera, and we were about numbers 30-something. We started to queue from 4 30 yesterday afternoon, it was pretty crazy thinking about it. We had a tent from about 8 30 p.m. on friday, which was the first one going round the corner next to Ted Bakers shop.
Anyways, had a pretty rough night with basically no sleep and freezing to death for 17 and a half hours.
..Was it worth it?! Not sure really, was definately an experience of a lifetime and going to the opening of the store and being a part of it really was fantastic. The staff were friendly and, if a little, too eager to help and please. I picked my goodie bag but was dissapointed not to see an ipod, just an express, isight, wireless keyboard mouse and keyboard and software...all of which i didn't need or already had. Should sell seperately for around 350 so a 100 quid profit isn't too bad and kinda makes up for the horrid night.
Oh btw dunno if any of you guys saw those three right ****s who pushed in front of us at around 5 am, 2 of which had blazers, but they really got on our nerves. Thank god police came to chuck them out. Makes me mad thinking about them.
anyways, had a good day but unpleasant night. will certainly be a 17 and a half hour experience i won't forget.

Congrats to those survivors!

I'm sorry to hear so many of you were disappointed with the lucky bags. I considered getting in for 5 in the morning, but after reading the post thought better of it. I'll probably pop in when the whole thing cools down. Well done to everyone who managed to survive the cold.

To those of you who knew me, hey! To those of you who dont...... I was the guy wearing the red 'ASU' Hoody who got the Mexican Wave going!!! (twice, quite successfully i might add according to the lady police officer!!)

Yeah, had a class time, the guys around me....Morgan, Tish, James, Pu, Jen and his Missus, Richard the Irish fella, Wayne and Peter from SLOVENIA!!! (thanks for keeping us all company and making the night so warm!

Hope you all get to use the stuff u got in the Lucky Bags, I heard of one iPod in a lucky bag, and the 13yr old kid getting one cos he licked arse! (fair enough, reminds me of that scene in Shrek 2 with Puss in Boots!

Was Roof Rabbit about at all?

Make sure u top up on ur vitamin C guys...

I got there at midnight and was about 270th so was expecting to get a lucky bag. I was 8 people away when they ran out. There WAS alot of queue jumping, and it really pissed me off. I kinda expected better from apple people. It was especially annoying when I was just about to enter the store and some fresh faced (ie. didn't look like he'd spent the night on the street like us) bloke tried to sell his lucky bag to the people in the queue near me for £500. What a w****r.

I was very disappointed. And tired. And cold. But now, after hearing what was in the bags, I'm kinda chilled as I'd have probably been a little dissapointed.

I dunno hopefully the Apple Photographer will be sending me some pics later today... she was very very nice 🙂 she was under the impression that some of them may go up tonight on the apple site but you can never be too sure, and i forgot to ask where, d'oh.
