At 3:05 a.m. there were 296 persons in line, wrapping around two faces of the Regent House building, and then off into the darkness of a back street. The first 30-40 persons in line aren't sleeping, and are still huddled around the corner of Regent and Princes Street. The line beyond that is in various stages of sleepfullness--more and more people are asleep as the line goes along.

Must be quite a few of "hard core" mac fans there, if your noticed by passer-byes.

I'm 20 mins away but have decided to give the store a miss and go to the Expo instead.

Respect to the al-nighters.

Certainly a lot of us.... and it is still f**king freezing. Thanks applespider for the pain killers, worked a treat 🙂

Respect to those who camped out. I thought about showing up from five AM, but am just getting over a cold and my health is more important than getting some 'free' Apple goodies.

With luck, there'll still be T-shirts by the time I make it down.

Woo hoo!

Hang in there guys, not long left!

Thanks!

As expected I suppose.

Gives us an overview of the guide book when you get the chance.

most people are gettying jbl speakers instead of isights.

no one at all is getting ipods

I question the value most users will get from the bags contents. It will be interesting to see what people post in the next say or so about their thoughts.

I would have liked to see things like 50 pound ITMS vouchers, and hardware that clearly wasn't just clearing out stock that isn't moving.

Well no one forced anyone to buy a bag I guess.

Did you get the T-Shirt and Socks?
http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=10216

"Apple is giving away free T-shirts to the first 2,500 visitors. The company is also giving free sets of iPod Socks to the first in the queue. Macworld reporter, Karen Haslam, is on the scene. She describes the excitement as "at fever pitch"."

If I had queued through the night for the contents of that lucky bag, I would be pissed !

I'll second that, pretty poor I'd say.
Glad I didnt go to queue, too cold I thought plus I'm going to see The Producers at Dury Lane tonight and didnt want to be too knackered for that. Might pop up to the store before the show if we have a chance.
What I am surprised about is that no photos have been posted, c'mon lads lets see some pics. Perhaps everyone is sat looking woefully at the disappointing contents of their lucky bag....I do hope for the poor addicts who braved the cold all night that there are some worthwhile goodies in some bags.

Congratulations to everyone who lasted the night.

Hope you got a good warm welcome from the staff!

I'm on my way in very soon ... are there any queues to get in?

Well, I just got home. I won't go through the bag stuff, except to say I got pretty much the same as Hector (we were sat together for a while during the line) except for the JBL instead of the iSight, and my wife got the same as Hector.

I was in the first group of 6 people to go in, no sign of iPod Socks 🙁 We had really got to fever pitch by 10 o'clock. Just before the store opened all 189 staff ran the length of the line and they were all cheerd and Hi 5'ed.

Entering the store itself was like nothing I've ever experienced. With about 4 minutes sleep in 28 hours of sitting in the freezing cold, to be confronted by 2 lines of staff cheering and clapping, with U2 blaring out and bright lights and warmth was the shopping equivalent of Shock and Awe.

A big thanks to everyone in the line for making it a unique experience. Thanks to all the Apple staff, particularly Ben (the last guy in the line of staff) and Max (who helped me out in my shellshocked state) and to all the hired security who were friendly, efficient and a good laugh.

thought people might this pic amusing. i went down to the line at about 9am this morning; I eventually found the back of the line and a police officer told me they estimate 6500 people in front of me! 😱

so i decided to come back later in the week as i obviously wasn't going to get a free t shirt. 🙁

i got this picture of a guy from one of the local coffee houses who had been kind enough to go down the line with some hot drinks for the maniacs who had slept out.

Sounds like a great welcome.

Anyone got links to video of this thing?

Hi.. this is Nikki, the wife!!

WOW is all I can say about last night.. As anyone who I met there knows, I wasn't planning on staying out, but got caught up in the vibe and have to say, was a great way to spend the end of my twenties *grins*

Love the Sabzi photo *l* That man was a nutter I swear - but really apprecaited hot sweet coffee at that moment!

bag was, well, kinda crappy.. I'm most upset that the actual bag is totally plain black with no Apple logo at all.. BUt I was bought a gorgeous Pink Mini Ipod as my birthday pressie from Kradlum!

Great to meet you Hector - and you got your ISight set up pretty damned quickly!!

Very surreal night, and morning 🙂

All gone?

I'm guessing by now that all the lucky bags have gone, you lucky lucky people.

Or was everyone queuing for t-shirts and the undelivered socks?

When I foolishly arrived at 8am I was faced with 5000 people so decided to go for an early morning stroll through London instead.
