Most of the time Apple really selects a good mall location if they can, the very large Apple Valley Fair San Jose store is a good example, has two entrances one to the outside, and one inside allowing Mall foot traffic.

Couple of good images to show its size. This store is the one where most stuff gets delivered as well as main store for Apple Guru support. The bottom image is showing the store looking further into it, it's that large.

this couldn't be late Nov 2022. Everyone is 100% masked

Anyone else surprised to see such a massive mall opening when malls have been failing all over the country? What sort of magic sauce does this place have to expect to survive?

NJ malls have been doing very well. There's several large malls in Northern NJ that all have their customer base and seem to do well: Garden State Plaza, Short Hills, Riverside Square, Bergen Town Center and American Dream.

They won’t survive. They have already defaulted on debt. Everything there is wildly overpriced because the stores are desperate to recoup their losses. This mall was always a bad idea, willed into being likely because there are some shady dealings behind it. Research Xanadu mall. Apple should have stayed away from it; I’m guessing they got a great deal on the space.

And for the person who posted about Paramus malls, if you think they aren’t struggling, you’re nuts. All malls are struggling now, Paramus or not. Although I will concede that Garden State Plaza, specifically, is one of the more likely to survive.

All I have to say about this store... is that I LOVE that Apple logo.

Can I get that logo variant as a high quality sticker?

Do you know what its square footage is? I think their largest US store is Apple Boyston St. in Boston (21,350 sq. ft).

I live in NYC my whole life and even I find it odd the phrasing of this article. 10 miles outside of midtown Manhattan in New Jersey. Just say it’s in East Rutherford, NJ. No one in Manhattan will travel to NJ for the Apple Store since there are like 4 in Manhattan alone and many people in Manhattan don’t drive.
OR for now on, any new Apple Store opening announcement article should include how far they are from Manhattan.

Having said all that (just poking fun) I think I have been to this mall a few times :) it’s very nice.

There’s a couple of short documentaries about this mall and its rough start. A majorly ambitious project that has never reached its potential, and still may never, even if it manages to exist. It’s still not thriving and it’s hard to envision it doing so as it ages and requires more repairs and upkeep.

Cherry Hill Mall down here in South Jersey has been around since 1962 and has always done well. Big new Apple Store with inside and outside entrances. Old location inside was always packed every time I went.

Apple today announced it is opening a new retail store at the massive American Dream shopping mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday, December 3, at 11 a.m. local time. The store is located around 10 miles outside Midtown Manhattan by car.

American Dream is the second-largest shopping mall in the U.S. behind the Mall of America in Minnesota. Opened in 2019, the three-million-square-foot shopping destination has several indoor attractions, including the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park, DreamWorks Water Park, a year-round indoor skiing and snowboarding resort, an NHL-sized ice skating rink, a burger restaurant owned by YouTube star MrBeast, and more.

The store features Apple's latest retail design, including a dedicated pickup area for orders placed on Apple's online store. Like other locations, the store will offer free Today at Apple creative sessions and Genius Bar appointments for hardware support.

Apple's grand opening date at American Dream was first spotted by Michael Steeber, who recently released an iPhone app tracking all of the company's retail locations.

Apple operates over 520 retail stores worldwide, including 11 other locations in New Jersey.

FYI: East Rutherford NJ is ’outside’ of NYC as Baltimore is outside of Washington DC…
