. . . or the stores could be opening Wednesday at midnight . . . truly unannounced, yeah that's the ticket . . . and you have to be wearing a "I Visited the Mothership" t-shirt to get in . . . yeah . . .

SF store

I just called the main store in San Francisco. He said they will have ipad2's tomorrow and will be selling them starting at 9 am. The question is, how many do they have....

That is interesting. I called about an hour ago and the guy said that they would actually be opening at 8am. He said that they will be open for "training and stuff" but I could, "come in and buy something if I would like". This stuck me as odd because they don't usually open until 10am.

I called Keystone after I read this and the woman said, no, they're opening at regular time and they don't know if they'll have any.

I called local Apple store. They said they would be opening at 9 AM but didn't know if they would have any to sell. Very non-committal.

This is what pisses me off the most. It's like they want us to waste our time tomorrow. They're opening early to tell people they don't have any iPads?

I called West 14 store in Manhattan and the rep told they did not get any shipments today but a good time to call back for an update would be 8am tomorrow...

From what I've read here and what the rep told me I have little doubt they're planning a second big launch tomorrow morning.

Thats odd since the stores dont open until 10. That must mean your store is opening early tomorrow.

If they open at 10 am normally, why would they tell you to call back at 8 am if not to offer ipads in the morning?

Well in Manhattan all stores besides the 5th Avenue store (24hr) open at 9 am. And a while back a rep had told me they open at 9am but start picking phones up at 8am. So you can see it the other way but I don't buy it..

Oh. That sucks because if people are waiting post 8 AM then you'll be screwed if you wait till 8 and call.

talked to michigan ave store in Chicago. Said all this talk about early openings were a "rumor" and specifically mentioned macrumors.com.

I think this is hilarious....now it's a rumor? I'm sure most of the people that posted this info on the forum didn't make it up. Curious if this is disconnect between stores....or if only stores with available stock were authorized to do the early opening?

In any case, there is no early opening at the Michigan Ave Apple store.

Our local Apple store (Shadyside, Pittsburgh) is actually staffed at 9am or earlier for special seminars or one-to-one sessions anyway. If you're nice, you can actually go in a buy stuff, although they'll probably have special provisions for iPad 2 right now.

True. But why did he say 8am and not later? I think this was the best way to "admit" there is a second launch tomorrow without violating corporate orders.

Plus, on a massive launch like this, I can't believe they got no shipments since Thursday.

I went to the Easton Town Center store here in Columbus and one of the employees told us that they would be getting a shipment of them tomorrow at 9am (the store normally opens at 10am), but that they had no clue how many of which models. Needless to say, I'll be there a couple hours early.

What time?

So if the store is opening at 9 and the mall opens at 7 for mall walkers, should i get there prior to 7 so I can be in the door asap?

I have never camped/waited for an apple product.

Mall Apple stores depend on the security. You could go early and be denied, or go early and be let in. It is totally random.

Thats irrelevant unless you tell us where you live.

Various stores in the Baltimore/DC area. None are opening early.

Pdx

The Pioneer Place and Bridgeport Village Apple stores in Portland, Oregon both reported that they'd be opening at 9am tomorrow. I'll probably swing by and see what I can discover, but won't be getting there until 8:30 at the earliest...
