Just got off of the phone with the Indianapolis Keystone mall store - not opening early tomorrow and no iPad 2 stock available currently

That is interesting. I called about an hour ago and the guy said that they would actually be opening at 8am. He said that they will be open for "training and stuff" but I could, "come in and buy something if I would like". This stuck me as odd because they don't usually open until 10am.
Hmmmm.... well I called twice once earlier in the day and once later in the day and got one of each of your stories..

I will be at the Keystone Mall around 9am..

I went to the Easton Town Center store here in Columbus and one of the employees told us that they would be getting a shipment of them tomorrow at 9am (the store normally opens at 10am), but that they had no clue how many of which models. Needless to say, I'll be there a couple hours early.

Just so I am clear - is the store opening at 9? Or are they getting a shipment at 9 but still opening at 10?

anybody check any stores in NYC? I'm going to call the 5th ave store now to se if I can get through..

14th St is opening at the normal time, but says they start answering the phone at 8, and suggest calling then.

What is a "mall walker"?

I think they are people who take morning walks inside of the mall. I saw this when I was at a store this morning, I was thinking wtf are these people walking in here for.

Various stores in the Baltimore/DC area. None are opening early.

did you call the towson town center?

I might just go there early and check it out... i dont have class til 930, so it wont hurt!

Wow. That's really sad.

He didn't specify. It was a bit ambiguous. It seems they may be selling iPads at 9am. Otherwise, I think he would've just said 10am, or so I would think.

Why can't elderly people walk in normal places?

Well, my grandmother, for instance, can't be outside when it's really cold in the winter because it's hard for her to breathe.

Anyways, back to the topic...

Or the weather is too crappy. If you didn't know it rains here in Seattle.:)

zama36...you definitely aren't lying about weather here in Seattle!!
Have you gotten any word about stores in the Puget Sound area? I can't get any word from them at all about potential stock! The Bellevue store even told me that it could be a month or so before they get more stock in haha...my guess is they've been getting so many calls about the iPad that the employee stopped caring about her response lol

Apple Store Fashion Valley (San Diego) will be opening at 9AM for iPad sales. They do not know if they will get a shipment but are opening early in case they receive one.

Both stores in the Sacramento area (Arden and Roseville) are opening early, but Arden said it's "unlikely" they will have iPads and Roseville said it's "possible" but they may not know until 10 am.

I thought those were very odd answers. I decided I'm not taking two hours out of my busy work day based on this. They very well could have instituted an "open early regardless" policy with no idea whether they'd have anything to sell. Screw that. I've got one on order that delivers in four weeks or less and I'm just going to cool my heals and find some patience. Four weeks will go faster than I think.

In other words, I've found sanity (though I will still be checking stock status at my local Best Buy from time to time).

Try not being so ignorant. Elderly people have difficulty walking in bad weather and on uneven surfaces. So they walk inside a mall where they are protected from the weather, can rest on benches, use the bathroom, etc. you sound really narrow-minded.

Haha good for you for finding the sanity in your life. I'm stuck to Roseville and that must be the smallest apple store in the US. So I will probably have the best luck at BB since I am guessing that apple will give priority to the larger stores.

It's just that living in a real city I'm not used to the bizarre practices of suburbia. I still find it baffling that some Apple stores are located in malls. I've certainly never been to one of them, and I've been to at least a dozen Apple stores.
