Don't you mean spoiled adults who are so immature that they need instant gratification, and they can't possibly survive the weekend by going out and spending time in the real world while their new electronic toy is in transit?
He didn't say they'd ship on Friday. He said they would start arriving on Friday. And you're assumption is the only "botch" here.
Ordered a second one for pickup today, going to return the one that shows up on monday/tuesday. If the plex app is available today I will take some pics/video and post them here since I know a lot of us have been itching for a plex app.
They didn't announce the instore date when they started the online orders, they quickly switched all orders to preparing for shipping early Tuesday and then announced the instore date Wednesday! Apple knows once it's prepping for shipping you can't cancel the order... Very sneaky
No, you assumed that. Many of us were well aware that they'd be in store on Friday as has been the case with iPads, iPhones, MacBooks and other devices when they begin shipping.
Thank you for admitting that. I ordered one on Monday, and paid too much for overnight shipping because I wanted to increase my chances of getting it on launch day. But unlike many of the people on these forums bashing Apple I freely admit my own neurosis. I was quite certain at the time I ordered that Apple would have them available in stores today. But I ordered anyway, because I was not sure what the inventory would be like. None of those things are Apple's fault, and anyone who blames Apple is just an emotional child.
I have been reading that you have to restore the device. Either by downloading the GM again from the dev site (even though it's the same number the size is different) or by doing a restore without using an IPSW file.
You'll have to wait to use Plex. As of last night, only 25 apps were in the store and Plex wasn't one of them.
My only issue with the whole thing is that I wish they would just have in store pickup as an option when you preorder. I think that would alleviate some of the frustrations people are having. Either way, happy I can at least get mine today in store.

Great, I was just woke up by a text from UPS updating me on my order that was to arrive today. Great job UPS the F'ed it up your order was DELAYED , they said it was incorrectly sorted and to expect a delay. Well I'm off to Best Buy and the order will be sent back. To Apple. I'm a big apple user and fan but in the last 4 years I have had now three pre orders that have gone wrong. Two UPS issues and one Apple. Why to I preorder?
So I am patiently awaiting the new iPad that I will be using for work and I am really not looking forward to see how that launch goes.
I just received a text from UPs they miss sorted my order and it will now be Monday.
Off to Best Buy. I wonder how many units Apple will sell via pre order that will be returned because of slow service. Mines going back as soon as it arrives if Best Buy has one this morning.
Instant gratification society, no one has any patience. Well, sorry, but you're gonna have a hard time unless you learn some spiritual maturity, patience and thankfulness. Some people don't have clean water, others don't have a safe place to live or have no food, and ALL you have is "No Apple TV". Anyone use the Apple TV or for that matter any smart TV to do Yoga? My wife and I love to us it for Yoga me we also have some meditation apps that at fantastic. It's a really nice way to end the day after dealing with this crazy world we live in. I'm really looking forward to see what apps will be created to take advantage of our 65in and Atv4. It's even better when the kids are asleep and you can do it in the buff! Try it you'll love it.

Well, the one I ordered on Monday hasn't even shipped yet, but I just ordered one for in-store pickup today.
Dropping support for the Apple Watch remote is a deal breaker for me. I can' go back to searching for the remote. Surprised Apple couldn't figure out a way to maintain the current level of functionality from AW to the new ATV. I'll keep my ATV3 which works fine.
